I hope the huskers obliterate Pen State. PSU is decadent. They are responsible for untold suffering, and have brought huge embarrassment to college football. Go Huskers! I think a lot of people will be pulling for you guys tomorrow.

p.s. - I have ties to NU through my g-grandmother. Your pharmacy college is named after her brother, Rufus Lyman. Their nephew, Link Lyman, played ball there and is in the NFL HOF.

 
Penn State as an entire institution is NOT responsible for Sandusky's actions. Specific people are, and the law will hopefully deal with them appropriately.

A football game is in no way a method of gaining vengeance on someone for something. It is a game. That's all it is.

 
Knapplc - You are right about vengeance, but thousands of people won't see it that way. People are people. And yes, it's ridiculous to think a win will heal the tragedy. It will not. I am simply rooting for NU tomorrow like I expect thousands of other (non NU family) are.

As far as the institution goes, no one knows how deep this goes yet. I have been reading all the stories. One report suggested Sandusky was pimping boys to wealthy donors. Could he have gotten away with this behavior, over years, without many insiders knowing about it? Don't think so.

 
With all that being said I am willing to bet that the kids on the team were not involved with it. With social media the way it is that would not be kept quite with young men.

Probably correct, but they need to recognize that Paterno did not do the right thing instead of stupidly (blindly) vowing to give him a game ball, while the student body burns down the town because they are so enraged over his "mistreatment." Misguided and sick.

Have you read the grand jury report? To say they are not responsible seems absurd if you have read it. If someone see's something happen, if someone knows of a trend of things happening and they still do NOTHING...they are responsible.

How is the Psych 101 professor responsible? How is the Grad Student studying physics responsible? How is the foreign exchange student studying business responsible? How is the staff at the dorm cafeteria responsible?

The responsible people are the ones who knew, or had reason to know. Blaming THE WHOLE SCHOOL makes no sense. That's all I'm saying.

I have heard a lot of National media talking about how the nation may be behind NU in this one so I don't think the OP is out of line in his statements! Beat Penn State!!!

 
I am not disputing there will be support. In my opinion it is misplaced. This game will not fix anything that happened. I just feel like the support that the OP speaks to shouldn't be against the players on the team.

This whole situation is just so incredibly sick and heart breaking that I don't know that I can apply it to football...I mean when it came out Mike Vick fought dogs I rooted against him but this is just so serious it seems to transcend football which is really quite trivial in the larger view of things.

Anyhow, if I looked at this game a week and a half ago I would've wanted NU to win so yea...Go Huskers...but honestly, I don't think I can bare to watch this game.
