i just do not see us winning the B1G, which i believe would be required to make the top 4 from the B1G. and if we do manage to win the B1G, i am guessing that we have a couple losses.

 
This all goes back to, why not use the winners of the 4 BCS bowls. Sort of a +1 +1. The 4 winners play in a +1, then the winner of those 2 games play each other for the MNC.

 
yes we could beat VT, they are only returning like 2 or 3 starters back on offense, and they play in a very weak ACC, which makes their defense look better than it really is. I think Thomas would give us fits, but in the end i think given time to prepare for them bo would have the defense schemed to limit his play and that their defense couldnt stop what I expect to be a very potent offense this year

Thanks for playing everyone. I will go ahead and add Texas to the poll to see what you guys think.

I didn't mean for purpose of this thread to be "should Nebraska be in the Top 4". I meant to have discussions about each team by a "game by game" basis for the teams ahead of us.

For example: I think NU could beat VT with an improved offense. Virginia Tech is still going to have a stout defense and always great special teams, but they are only returning (I believe) 4 starters on a struggling offense. Although, Logan Thomas is the type of threat that the Huskers have struggled with I hope Nebraska's defense will figure out mobile QB's since they face some dangerous ones.

I can see NU beating VT with a score like 20-14

Again, I added Texas to try this again. Even though the majority of fans don't think Nebraska could beat VT. Plus I figured talking about beating Texas would be fun for a few of us.

I thought the same thing. The playoff doesn't start this year does it? I don't see us making the playoff this year, even if it did start this year. I do think we could compete with Virginia Tech this year, but I am always optimistic about the Huskers. We will know more in a couple of weeks! Excited for the start of college football!

 
Honestly, if there were a 4-team playoff for the B1G conference, the Huskers would probably not make that. Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, and Ohio State (formally not eligible for a bowl) would likely be the conference top 4.

So... not only is it unlikely that the Huskers will end in the top 4 nationally.... I doubt they even land in the top 4 of their conference.

 
Could we? Yes, we could...............Would we? No, no we wouldn't because this team hasn't shown that they can consistently perform week in and week out. We need to get our **** together and soon!

This would just be an 8-team playoff but in the first round, instead of having 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, etc. we have 1 vs 2, 3 vs 4, etc. For instance, last year the "1st round of the 4-team playoff" if we did it your way would be Bama vs. WVU & Okie State vs. Michigan. No thanks on that...

 
It depends... We tend to go into big games thinking extremely high of ourselves. Then when we get down a couple scores... We throw ourselves a pity party.

We could beat V-Tech because they rely so much on speacial teams and with the new kick-off rule it will negate some of Beamer's advantage. And because I want us to beat them, and it's about time I start getting what I want.
