The Oversigning Cup

This is the big reason why the SEC looks so good. It is a very unfair advantage, plus it is incredibly low to rescind a scholarship to a player after they sign with you.

I read a story about a kid who played two seasons with LSU. He was called just before the start of his Jr year by his postions coach, who let him know that he was no longer on schollarship. The article made it sound like this kid was from a tough background & football was his only way out. Pretty said story wish I could find it again.

Is this process not allowed in conferences outside of the SEC? Or, is it not allowed at all and the enforcement is just poor at certain schools or certain conferences?

SEC is beginning to regulate this a lot more closely now. Those days are over.

What I don't get is the Nebraska fans that say oversigning is this huge advantage and then fail to acknowledge Nebraska's piss poor roster management as a disadvantage.

All of our signees made it to campus. How that qualifies as oversigning I don't know. The B1G does not allow oversigning if memory serves. Never more than you have available or 25, whichever comes first.

The Big 10 allows 3 oversigns per year, but i think you have to explain your reasoning for each to the Big 10, like potential transfer or medical hardship or alike.

Correct. The Big Ten allows up to 88 schollarships in a 4 year span, but you must have written approval from the Big Ten to go over 85 & a max of 25 per year. The SEC is now limited to 88/25, but they are already finding ways around it. Here is a article about how Saben is doing it.

I wonder if this kid ever ends up at Alabama.
