  1. I'll take you up on that bet. All I'm saying is, it just seems like every time we land a recruit people act like it's some amazing feat. But in comparison, other teams are doing the exact same thing, and better. 3* guys are ok, but we need primarily 4 and 5* guys if we expect to win championships. Like it or not, every national champion in this century, with the exception of 2010 Auburn, has had multiple Top 12 classes in the years leading up to their championship season, including at least one in the Top 5. Just look at how many guys teams like LSU, Bama, Clemson, & Ohio State had drafted compared to us. Stars matter.
  2. This is the type of talk that kinda irks me. Yeah it's nice to be optimistic, but we also need to be realistic. He's a 3* recruit. Does he have the chance to become a "monster" if the stars align? Of course. But we also need to look at how he compares to the recruits that other teams are getting. Even with this pledge, we're still only #29 in the recruiting rankings. When we start finishing in the Top 12-15, then I'll be satisfied with our recruiting. Let's not act like every recruit we land is the second coming of [[insert NFL all-time great here]]. We've finished 4-8 & 5-7 the past two seasons and haven't won a conference championship this century. I'd say the sky fell a long time ago.
  3. Khalil landed in the best possible spot. He'll have two seasoned vets who will get him on the right track. As for LJ, I do remember last season when some mock drafts had him going in Round 1. Amazing how far his stock has fallen.
  4. I'm just tried of the fans saying that stars don't matter and how we can get guys and coach them up. Of the 64 1st/2nd round picks, 52 were either 4* or 5* coming out of HS. Funny you mentioned Riley - when he was coach I criticized his recruiting, but of course our fan base called me a "Negative Nancy" and gave me the ol' "maybe you should find another team to cheer" spiel. The media (247 etc.) tricks the fan base into thinking our recruits are so great, but what our fans don't realize is that they do the same thing for every other team, too. Getting clicks is how they make $. What fans need to look at is our how recruits compare to other teams in our conference, and across the country.
  5. Khalil Davis has really short arm length by NFL standards. Doesn't matter how fast he is or how many reps he does. His best chance is landing a role as a backup somewhere.
  6. Just goes to show that the level of recruits we are getting just aren't good enough, and development of our players isn't up to par. LSU had 10 guys selected in the first 3 rounds; Bama and Ohio State had nearly as many. Can't compete with the big boys until we can somehow land that level of talent. Finishing #20-25 each year in recruiting will equate to a #20-25 finish in the polls.

  8. I'd change the topic to garner more votes. A lot of folks won't click on this thread with that generic title. It's currently 51/49 Nebraska and I've seen the poll mentioned on multiple LSU boards.
  9. Remember when Ed Orgeron was interested in the DC position and we told him, "Nah, we're good, we have Mark Banker"? Good times.

Out of all the things that didn't happen that's my favorite.

  10. Watching this game makes me depressed. These teams are on a totally different planet than Nebraska
  11. Yeah, but according to our fans, recruiting rankings and stars don't matter. Tell that to LSU. 7 TD passes... in the first half
  12. I think Martinez will be named starter, but if he struggles he'll be pulled (which I expect), and he'll never regain the job.
  13. The team played their hearts out in the second half. Changes have to be made on this staff. Will Frost have the cajones to make them? Unfortunately, I don't think so.
