  1. Your breakdown only highlights the screw job in my opinion. If the game ends with the 6 to 8 Husker penalties you identified along with 4 to 6 against the Aggies, we win the game and no one's screaming conspiracy. But a 16 to 2 penalty margin is a far different story than 8 to 4. 8 to 4 is typical football game. 16 to 2, with blatant blown calls and obvious non calls, is a screw job.
  2. It's tough to sustain a drive when your positive gainers get wiped out by penalties, and you're constantly forced to gain 20 yards for a first down with gimpy freshman QB against an inspired defense in one of the most hostile road environments in our solar system.
  3. I think some are reading too much in to a quote without context. The entire article is about the emotions surrounding the last meeting with Texas in the Big 12. Crick said "Our mindset stays the same," meaning they're not getting caught up in the emotion of the last meeting with Texas, because "[f]or me and a lot of the guys, it's the last time we're playing anyway." Obviously, he doesn't literally mean this is the last game they're playing ever. He's saying this game is the last time any of the JUNIORS or SENIORS expected to play Texas anyway. It's an ever other year rivalry remember.
  4. I don't disagree at all. I wasn't taking a subject side; I was providing some objective information regarding the various legal causes of action involved. Again, I don't disagree at all, and if this is your stance now we're completely on the same page. The entire area of intellectual property and privacy law is complex and getting more so as our society advances. I don't know that Keller will win, every plaintiff has an uphill battle, but he most definitely has a case. Gray is a good description. I'm glad you softened your previous black and white stance that EA is absolutely in the legal right.
  5. Wow, are you really that interested in arguing just for the sake of argument that you're going to cite a DISSENT that has almost no legal significance? Just because you and the dissent think "the panel didn't know the laws," IT IS THE LAW. Your legal opinion carries the same weight as the dissent's. Zero. Regardless, I didn't reference the Vanna White case for its holding. I referenced the case because it identifies and distinguishes different causes of action including the Lanham Act and the Right of Publicity, so anyone interested in this issue could learn about it. Then, you go and try to crap on what I said with a dissent and quote a piece of it regarding the "parody" exception to copyright which has NO SIGNIFICANCE to the current facts at issue. Do you really think EA is trying to parody Sam Keller, or are you just trying to be argumentative? I'm trying to add something constructive to a conversation I actually know something about. You can take it for what it's worth, but please don't diminish it with irrelevant, argumentative replies. whoa, that is crazy, i referenced the vanna white case after you without reading your post. that is crazy, and i should read the posts above mine. No worries, it's pretty much "The Case" when it comes to these issues, so it's natural to be thinking/talking about it.

  7. This is only true for misappropriation. Unfortunately for EA, and you if you ever happen to take the wrong person's picture, there are other causes of action that DO NOT require a face. Most applicable here are the Right of Publicity and the Lanham Act. All three causes of action are explained and distinguished in the case of White v Samsung Electronics America, where an advertisement used a robotic Vanna White without her permission. Anyone interested should read it. I especially like this bit of reasoning offered by Judge Goodwin: "Consider a hypothetical advertisement which depicts a mechanical robot with male features, an African-American complexion, and a bald head. The robot is wearing black hightop Air Jordan basketball sneakers, and a red basketball uniform with black trim, baggy shorts, and the number 23 (though not revealing "Bulls" or "Jordan" lettering). The ad depicts the robot dunking a basketball one-handed, stiff-armed, legs extended like open scissors, and tongue hanging out. Now envision that this ad is run on television during professional basketball games. Considered individually, the robot’s physical attributes, its dress, and its stance tell us little. Taken together, they lead to the only conclusion that any sports viewer who has registered a discernible pulse in the past five years would reach: the ad is about Michael Jordan."
  8. I can't back this up, but I remember the BSC scrapping SOS in their computer rankings because they felt human voters already took SOS into account when voting in the polls.
  9. I used the stats listed on the team's official website. It's possible, probably likely based on your info, that the school did not update the stats to include all the games. Unlike Alabama and Florida, the Texas official website only listed individual stats in the players bios, which complicated things. I checked them again after your post and still got the same numbers, but I noticed none of them mentioned the CCG.
  10. Ran a quick google search and the stat comparison has found its way into debates on several different message/comment boards. Some of the post is getting lost in translation though. Many Husker fans are arguing that Suh's line was better or equal to the THREE starters from Alabama. Posters are assuming three because Alabama runs a 3-4 defense. However, to stay consistent regardless of the defensive set, I used the top FOUR leading tacklers from each school's D line. Alabama: Cody, Dareus, Deaderick, and Washington Texas: Alexander, Houston, Acho, and Jones Florida: Howard, Sanders, Cunningham, and Dunlap If I would have known the legs on this, I would have been clearer in my methodology up front.
  11. HuskerNation definitely gets around. I've seen the stats comparison posted several times in various comment sections to Suh articles on the web. Good stuff. I'm going to be disappointed if he doesn't win tomorrow night, which is crazy - a few days ago I was happy he was even invited. --Edit-- I found the Huskerpedia thread doubleextrapoint.com got their stats from: http://64.131.67.10/vbbs/showthread.php?t=77696 I hope somebody in the real media starts using it tomorrow on award day. It'll be the greatest achievement of my life that no one ever knew about.
  12. I like where your head's at cmb23.
  13. I'm new to the board, so maybe it's just me, but "Nebraska always gets Jewd" flies just fine here? Really?
  14. Agreed, I know our overall D was good, but there's no way we can be this good again next year without Suh. You don't lose arguably the greatest defensive tackle ever and not miss a step. I doubt will see a lot of 1 or 0 linebacker sets next season. All those extra blackshirts Suh freed up this year with his phenomenal play will have to start blitzing or tackling running backs instead falling back into coverage. Hopefully, Pelini's schemes will minimize the drop off, but I think there has to be one.
  15. Nice pull with the Sapp 3 year statistics. I can't believe his 94 season isn't available somewhere on the internet. I was going to post a comparison of Suh's stats to the other finalists for the Lombardi award, but there's really nothing to compare. He's going to walk away with every award he's up for except the Heisman, which looks to be three way battle at stiffarmtrophy. I saw the Suh v Bama, Texas, Florida comparison posted in the comments at stiffarmtrophy
