  1. The players and coaches are doing their best. Riley and his assistants didn’t come here to fail. Yes, there have been mistakes. We may have different opinions on judgment calls. But there is no need for personal insults and nastiness. The players are young adults. They, in particular, deserve our support. I also don’t believe in schadenfreude. Nebraska is the home of the greatest fans in college football so let’s act that way.

  2. That’s almost impossible to believe.

  3. Good god............the dude isn't a bad guy, he's actually a really nice guy, he's just a crappy football coach. Folks need to quit attacking the guys character and understand that he's a decent man that was in way over his head here and never should've been here as the football coach. It's as simple as that, just because he's a bad football coach doesn't mean the guy is basically a P.O.S.

  4. Getting rid of him now does nothing but appease a bunch of "I want it my way, right now" folks. He's gone at the end of the year. Keeping him won't help us win anymore games, but firing him right now won't either (check out Florida's day today with their new interim coach).

  5. I guess if nothing else, the Gates are open wide for another lineman to come in and outplay him. One thing about being a lineman is that you can't be afraid to jump in there and get Nicked up now and then.

  6. Riley will get fired, don't disrespect him on the way out with a pointless/ugly mid season firing. Regardless of what he's done here, he deserves respect based on who he is and how he's acted. 99% of the ADs and head coaches respect him - show him some decency on his way out. We can still move on next season, and we can still get Frost.

  8. Exactly. For the love of Pete people he is entitled to his buyout money. It is not dishonoarable to accept the money you are owed. He is not taking us for anything, he was hired to do a job on contract and failed. There are terms in the contract to fulfill, it's business. NONE of you would leave that money on the table, nor would I. Stop saying that.

  9. Pat is really not a bad coach. His management at times is questionable for sure, but he does something Riley fails to. He does more with less. We are much more talented than Northwestern. He is an example of a coach who gets the most out of his players. If we had a coach like that we would be winning the West just about every year, the talent is there.

  10. IMO it doesn't matter if Florida has Frost as their favorite or any head coach as their favorite. It all comes down to what Frost wants and what he feels is best for him. If Florida is that place than so be it. Earlier in this thread, I referenced a very connected Nebraska person who told me Frost wants this job and I 100% believe him. That same person also said Frost is not interested in Florida. Now, that doesn't mean Florida couldn't make a great pitch and convince him. The wait is what sucks. I'd rather know regardless of the answer.

  11. Guys, you’re overlooking one big reason why Riley won’t be terminated early: as long as Riley is here, it provides a needed smokescreen to allow Moos to do his job unfettered. While we’re focused on Riley and his incompetence, Moos is able to meet multiple folks behind the scenes (e.g. agents, analysts) to get the job done. The media narrative is (still, technically) if Riley will be terminated, and there’s no needling Moos or sources about interviews, meeting agents, etc. That narrative changes immediately as soon as Riley is terminated—as soon as Riley is terminated, we’ll be tracking flights, interviewing cable installation techs, and bothering the hell out of both of the salt-water aquarium guys in the Lincoln metropolitan area. Moos knows this, and he’s willing to endure short-term angst for long-term gains. In short, we have a permanent AD for the first time since $ Bill Byrne that can plan and make moves for the long term. As much as I want Riley gone, I’ll defer to Moos.

  12. I learned these things... Whoever is in charge of start times is an idiot. Who came up with the bright idea of having Nebraska, ISU and Iowa all starting at 2:30? On Saturday, I just want to watch football...not have to make decisions and stuff. West Virgina fans are the worst fans in the Big 12. Laser pointers and morons with coonskin caps contradict the laws of nature. If you stand too close to your Iowa State wind sock while having a cigarette on your porch when the wind is blowing, it will inevitably blow your way, become entangled with your head and go up in flames like a torch. My dog likes beer Other than that...nothing.

  14. First of all, we dont know if this information is true. Secondly, hes in the midst of an undefeated season and his wife is about to have a baby. Why would he announce that he has accepted another position when he still has a month left in the season and Riley is still employed as our HC?

  16. If you love something, let it go free. If it doesn't come back, it wasn't yours to begin with. Let's face it, Scott Frost doesn't seem to be an unquestioning 'Nebraska first, last and always' kind of guy. But I frankly appreciate him more because of that. It means if he DOES come back that he is doing it for the right reasons.

  19. I was at the Miami Nebraska game in 2015. The Miami fans were talking all game long about how much they disliked Al Golden. There was an airplane flying over the stadium flying a fire Al Golden banner. It was a very heartbreaking OT loss to Miami. But what stood out to me was how Miami was beating us real bad all game long but the Canes faltered and let us back in the game. All the Miami fans attributed the comeback to Golden;s incompetent coaching. Watching Miami tonight, and this year, that program has been resurrected. The Canes hired a proven winner, and an alum. If they can do it so can Nebraska. Never forget, we are Nebraska! no one can take away who we are and where we have been. And believe it or not no one can stop where we are going. I believe that our Resurrection is coming. Frost loves Nebraska football just as much as you or I. Have faith, keep your heads up. This train wreck is about to be a distant memory.

  20. To be be fair (I'm being a hypocrite) I don't think we should be picking on this kid. I believe he has skills and is a victim of the program. He seemed to play fairly well when he got here. Look at the D line for example. Can you honestly tell yourself that we have no one on the team that can beat a block and hurry the QB. This program is wasting talent.

  21. In what alternate dimension are these fans located that base their opinion of a new coach on initial contract length? Asking for a coaching friend.

  22. Guys UF is going after Frost and so are we, right now. You don't have to fire your coach publicly to conduct a search.

  24. I can't see Frost being strong armed into staff hires regardless of who the staff members are at a school. If Florida is seriously telling prospective head coaches they need to retain certain staff members they will have an ugly coaching search, IMO.

  26. I know that Richt was born in Nebraska and has family in Nebraska, but I wouldn't say he's "from" Nebraska. He spent his formative years Boulder, Colorado and South Florida. He went to the U of Miami. He's more of a Miami guy than a Nebraska guy. My son was born outside Chicago, we then moved to Dallas for a couple years, and then we have lived in Colorado since he has been 3 years old. He's not going to say "I'm from Chicago" or "I'm from Dallas", he's going to say "I'm from the Denver area."

  27. I have recently run into a troubling problem and am looking for a few suggestions on how to handle it. The problem? I don't know how to gloat properly. You see...as a diehard ISU fan, I'm not familiar with success and haven't really had to worry about the etiquette of gloating before. Oh sure, I'm surrounded by moron Hawkeyes fans who gloat about everything from their stolen Pittsburgh Steelers color scheme to their record of number of players cited for public urination...but the way they do it makes them seem like brainless a$$hole$ and makes the entire world hate them. Actually, the entire world already hated them but their method of gloating just magnifies the hatred. I don't want people to hate me. On the other hand, I had a conversation with a coworker today who is a Kansas State fan and I mentioned that we were ranked 14th in the nation and asked her where K State was ranked this year. When I realized what I said, I felt guilty about it. Even after assuring her that I was joking and that I was sure K State would win their next game because it was a night game and Bill Snyder would be on the sideline coaching instead of laying in his coffin trying to hide from the sunlight, I still felt bad, especially since she has real big breasts. So...here I am looking for some advice. How do I gloat without becoming an asshat Hawkeyes type of gloater but without having to worry about losing a chance of motor boating with the hot office assistant? Now I know Nebraska fans have had their share of success in the past and most of the ones I have met have usually been very gracious about the fact that their team was good while my team sucked so I decided it would be a great dea to come to the experts and ask how to gloat properly. Any advice would be appreciated...thank you in advance Cy

  29. Scott Frost might not be theguy. Did anyond think of that? First he up and left the state for Stanford where he would have stayed if it had worked out for him. Why would he come back this time if things are peachy elsewhere? You all sound like a lost bunch of sheep to me, calling out for the only obvious answer to you. But I got news: The obvious answer isn't always the right one. Here our program sits, in a tough giant of a conference, with huge fan expectations, plenty of ghosts, and a multitude real world difficulties. It is going to take a certain type of guy and staff to be able to work with this and bring success. In this modern day of brain science, and pop culture, football itself is becoming a dinosaur. It is starting to feel that way. I don't know if NU will get its swag back before this whole sport goes the way of the dodo bird.

  34. Most of the head coaches we will go after are current coaches, and they will not be available until at least after their regular season ends. Moos is already getting a start in replacements, so firing mid-season does nothing but put a bad taste for prospective coaches who would consider taking over at Nebraska.

  36. I learned that Nebraska DOES have an identity.... it's self-sabotage. This team makes some good plays on both sides of the ball and has some decent players...... but when it really comes down to crunch time, they will fail. The offense will fail, or the defense, or both. And 19 times out of 20, it will be self-inflicted. 18 play drive with a chance to go two scores up...... failed 1st down at Northwestern 20 with a chance to go two scores up..... failed spectacularly. 1st down at midfield with three time outs and a FG wins you the game..... failed again. Failed, failed, failed, failed, failed.

  38. Another being - that he is a professional, and right now he has a job and part of that is recruiting. Also, he is a good man - I don't think he'd try to sabotage recruiting efforts. I have little doubt he wants current players as well as Nebraska FB to be successful. If he can help get strong kids here for the next guy, from everything we've heard of him as a man I think he would do so.

  39. I don’t know who’s decision it was for NW to try and have Thorson take over the game in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. That decision allowed NU to stay in the game and take the lead into the 4th. Both teams tried to give away the game yesterday, of course Riley is just better at finding a way to lose than Fitz.
