  4. As others have said No news is good news. Frost is N, just waiting to announce. I have not been able to confirm if he has signed but I guarantee you Scott is our HC.

  8. I find it funny when fans say that kids need to toughen up and deal with it in terms of a coaching change. You know who gets the raw end of it in college sports? The players. The kids. Coaches can come and go without consequences. If they are fired they are usually entitled to their money from the contract. If a coach decides to leave for greener pastures and does not honor his contract that is called part of the business and his new employer takes care of the cost. His coordinator or position coach will often leave if he has done a good job because they are hired elsewhere. These are still kids and they develop special bonds with these men, very much father figures at times. Promises are made to the player that their coaches will be by them through thick and thin for four years. For many reasons, that is not always the case. The kids honor their scholarships 100 to 1 over coaches. If a kid wants to leave he has to sit out a year. As for fans, we all want what we want, and when we want it, but really we have no skin in the game, besides feelings and emotions. How dare anyone question a kid for having those as well.

  11. I don't think so. Damon has a pretty close view of the program. He knows a lot of things we don't. He probably sees a chance to discuss what went wrong in player development, recruiting, attitude, strategy, etc... and all everyone wants to talk about is how Frost is going to have Nebraska competing for B1G Championships in a couple years. It's not realistic, Benning knows it, and he still has to beat the same drum day after day. If anything, I'd say Benning wants to brace people for the idea that it may take Frost 5,6,7 years to get the team back to a competitive level. And he is scared Scott may have the crowd turn on him too soon?

  12. That national media seems to always rip Nebraska apart of "firing 9 win coaches" yet they say nothing about how Auburn and Florida handle their coaches.

  13. I'm just trying to keep things on topic. I got the jab and I am fine with the best team winning. Even if OSU wins, I don't think they are going to the playoffs. I just want teams like Nebraska to be good again. As much fun as it is killing you guys, it gets old. It is more enjoyable to watch a good game between two good historical programs in great stadiums.

  16. Moos is not going to sit around and watch his list vanish if Scott hasn't said he is coming. If Scott said he is coming he will not go back on his word as TO etc would know his commitment to us. I find it impossible that he has been sitting on our offer for nearly a month and an extension from UCF for nearly the same amount of time while passing up offers from UF, UT etc. A big time coach does not stay at UCF over his dream job which there is no promise he will ever have a chance at again in his life.

  23. How many times over the last ten years have we heard on this board that if we offered enough money we could get any coach we wanted? How many of you have said something about not settling for mediocrity and throwing huge chunks of money at people like David Shaw or Chris Petersen, believing we could snag them? What's happening at Tennessee is proof that that sentiment isn't anywhere close to reality. Take note of the fact that Tennessee offered to essentially double Mike Gundy's salary, and make him the third highest paid coach in the entire country, and he said, "nah".

  26. Full control. But, as cagey and experienced as Bill Moos is, I can see him suggesting that Scott consider a few things. "It's all your call Scott, but based on my experience overall, and my time here the last two months, you might consider xyz". Be a trusted advisor, like TO, but not a "do what I say" twit like Eichhorst apparently was. And, if I were Scott, I'd listen. He does have a lot on his plate right away when he says yes.

  27. I read this morning that USC's offensive coordinator is sure to be getting consideration in this year's coaching carousel. His name is Tee Martin. Which would make him Tennessee's Scott Frost. But very little Tee Martin discussion in the Tennessee chatter. I think it would be a safer choice than the parade of retreads they're now forced to consider. My understanding is that terms had been drawn up for Shiano and he had boarded the plane for the trip to Knoxville when the offer was rescinded due to fan outcry on social media. Which means it's very likely that Tennessee will owe Shiano money -- perhaps considerable money — before they ever hire the coach who will actually coach. If it's wrong to use someone else's dumpster fire to feel a bit warmer about your own football program, I plead guilty.

  32. I would love to hear a conversation between Mike Riley and Bob diaco. Riley: good morning Bob. Bob: mornings are like an oyster being pulled out of the water and being opened. You know there's a pearl in there but it has to be pryed out. Like with a crowbar or a really strong pencil. The pearl is there for the taking but life makes it a strain to get it. I feel the strain mike. Can you see the strain? It's on the table we built and are building mike. Mike: that's a great thought Bob, we should put that in a book of inspirational quotes that Bob: (interrupts mike) with a cat on the cover hanging off a cliff. I might put up the money for that book and have it be about cats and the struggles they have like kids and family and I love them all. Siamese and Persians and 4 year old kids learning life and football and how to make soup with all of the ingredients. Mike: that's deep Bob and it reminds me of a story Bob: (again interrupting) the ocean is deep and full of fish like whales and octopuses and lobsters Mike: those aren't fish Bob Bob: cats love fish. Chapter 2 should be a story about a cat waking up in the morning and finding an oyster and using the jaws of life to open it but finds a pearl and then trades the pearl for a comb for his wife but his wife sold her hair for a watch made out of oysters and pearls. HEY! IT'S TACO TUESDAY AT WENDY'S! Mike: WENDY'S doesn't do taco Tuesday and it's Friday Bob. I do like frostys and chili at WENDY'S though. Bob: you're like a son to me mike. Like a child full of wonderment and prestige and finding waldo in memorial stadium with a bunch of cats. Chapter 3 is going to be a picture book with waldo playing fullback. Mike: what's a fullback? Bob: it's like TGIF at bw3 with the babybacks on a beautiful family sitting at the table they built starting with the legs and the top and the dinner we all made from the ingredients for soup and frostys. Do you have any meth Mike? Mike: I have some Xanax bars and a pitcher of margaritas. Bob: let's roll. Hold my oyster

  38. No, it isn't. Winning has never been the stated purpose of Nebraska. That's what YOU expect, but it is not what Nebraska athletics is about. The Nebraska Athletics Mission Statement It seems like you're completely forgetting the words engraved into the four corners of Memorial Stadium, too: The last one may be the most famous, but the first one could have been written specifically about Mike Riley, and what he teaches. Yeah, winning is great. But the lust for winning should not overpower someone so much that they embarrass themselves and the team they root for in this manner. This thread embodies everything Nebraska Athletics stands against. It's shameful, greedy, and dishonorable.

  39. Fully control, absolutely. I also think Moos feels the same. Now Frost may interview some of the former coaches, but an AD should not tell a head coach who should be on his staff. You hire a head coach because you trust his decision making and part of that decision making is assembling the right staff.
