  1. actually we should thank our lucky stars they got rid of Eichorst when they did- there would have been no way we could have gotten an AD in place fast enough to get Scott Frost on board. Frost himself even indicated in his PC that if he didn't have a solid AD and Administration he wouldn't have come back.

  2. I wonder if this is the first position change for several guys. (Farmer to center confirmed?) I thought he played great last year. Maybe the new staff is sold on the current and new crop of LB's that the move is being made to add depth and a spark to the DL. IMHO, Stille was one of the few bright spots on the D last year. Also seems like the weight program is working.... Stille, who is listed at 6-foot-5 and 255 pounds on the school's website, has spent the seven weeks of winter conditioning with head strength coach Zach Duval bulking up and said he's put on about 20 pounds. http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/football/husker-sophomore-stille-moving-back-to-defensive-line/article_569436cf-d4f5-5392-92a8-89dd0d27b6c6.amp.html

  15. Then you wpuld know illegal aliens are less likely to engage in criminal activity(outside of being here illegaly, working here illegaly, ect.) Than the citizens of the United States. There are alot of people here illegally. Not very many of them are criminals but its just a very visable minority that is used for political warfare https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2018/01/18/trumps-claim-that-immigrants-bring-tremendous-crime-is-still-wrong/

  17. My daughter informs me that having joined the Gay-Straight Alliance at her high school, there was no shortage of enlightened California GenZ males willing to call her a dyke. This week she met with her teacher about the film project she's directing. The teacher -- a woman -- spoke almost exclusively to her assistant director, a boy. The thing I've hated most about the last couple years is learning that things I really thought had changed, really haven't.

  20. I always get a kick when white, descendants of Europeans complain about illegal immigration
    1 point
  21. We have. This is what net illegal immigration from Mexico looks like: The problem is a lot of people decided to take Trump's lead and bitch about NAFTA now like we're somehow getting a raw deal. This presents a cognitive dissonance problem for hardcore Trumpers. They want to kick illegals out of the country ASAP, but they've also decided NAFTA is bad and we have to hatchet something that was instrumental in causing the shift in immigration illustrated above... because it's suddenly not good enough for us. You can't really have it both ways. Unless you're OK with basically an authoritarian state that rounds up millions for deportation & goes around poking allies in the eye because you've been convinced by an ignorant charlatan at the head of the table that globalists (i.e., Jews), unfair trade deals and trade deficits are the cause of all our ills. If you're OK with the U.S. becoming that type of country, well, you're going to have to go through myself and other like-minded people that just aren't going to let it happen.

  25. Here's the most baffling part: Riley continues to be employed. How? Why did Oregon State hire him back? He has such an incredible, abysmal, pathetic track record of failure. How does he keep getting hired?? Just boggles my mind.

  28. Watch Stweart in his appearances lately? He had excellent writers on that show. What he had was snark and writers. Im a Colbert fan myself - excellent writers there as well, but as far as measureable “talent” he brings far more to the table.

  29. Of course Frost is going to say that. He wants to pump them up. That team, especially on defense sucked. It was aided by very, very bad coaching. You guys need to learn not to get sucked up by offseason PR. It's the main reason you get sucked in and find yourself on the ledge by Week 6.

  30. Same boat. I can't stand watching Trevor Noah on TDS. Jon Stewart was amazing, Colbert's show was fantastic, but everything they've done since those two left has been unappealing. Trevor seems like he's constantly doing that little cutesy/cheesy smile he got laughs with when he was three years old. He looks like a little kid when he does it, and it drives me crazy. They went from a fantastic adult host to a child.

  31. I like the way it went down except I think they should have confronted, pulled Riley off the team buss like they did to Kiffin at USC. Make him find his own way home.

  32. Oh, I thought we were talking about legit talk show hosts. Seth Meyer and Craig Ferguson are a whole new level of bad. I didn't include them originally because I figured everyone obviously hated them. Can't figure out how Meyer is even given air time. He's the worst of the worst.

  34. 0 for 4. Not a good batting average. Ya know, not too long ago in our history this likely would’ve been enough evidence to get you burned at the stake. Seriously, those are 4 of my most favorite things. In fact, I think I like the smell of coffee brewing more than I actually like drinking it. I’ve figured it out though. It’s the bacon thing putting it over the top.

  35. STAND WITH NON-VIOLENT OFFENDERS & OPPOSE EXPENSIVE, INEFFECTIVE SENTENCING: Call/Resistbot/Email: Your two senators (look up). Script: Hi. I’m calling in support of the Sentencing Reform and Corrections Act of 2018 (S. 1917) which is just out of committee. This bipartisan effort addresses the problem of expensive, ineffective mandatory sentences for non-violent drug offenders. It also empowers judges in sentencing and funds programs that aid re-entry and reduce re-offending. Will [name] co-sponsor and vote for S. 1917?

  36. It's very easy to sell tax cuts. "Here, have some money." Of course they're popular. What's less popular is what the people who sold the tax cuts propose to do to pay for them & not explode the deficit (surprise, they lied & they're not going to pay for themselves. This selling point was and has been absolutely idiotic the entire time it was used.) This is where the GOP runs into trouble. Their plans to suppress the massive deficits they create generally suck. And get very low approval. Because no one wants to see Medicare or Social Security diced up or privatized. But since they're not willing to spend less on the military, that's their only option. If Dems run on raising taxes on the right people, they should be just fine talking taxes. Tax the wealthy, stop handouts to corporations. Close the loopholes. I don't know why that wouldn't be popular. Under FDR the top tax rate rose to 94% and things chugged along pretty dang well. For instance, I saw a story the other day that Bernie wants to propose Medicare-for-All by undoing Trump's tax cuts. That's a tradeoff, but I think it would be pretty popular.

  37. That's because it's a slippery slope to go down. People like to argue 'the team was better than 4-8 and here's why' while often ignoring the team was also pretty close to being 2-10. We can't have one without acknowledging the other. I know it's hard to stomach but they were a bad team last year - they were a 4-8 team. They weren't good and they know it, even if their recruiting rankings and raw potential suggested things should've been otherwise.

  38. I’m sorry but Nebraska needed help from several teams the last week of the season to win the outright championship in a very weak conference. Sure it was nice to win the Conference but to have another embarrassing showing in the B1G tournament and regionals for the 3rd straight year is embarrassing hence the miserable comment. Erstad in his 6th year still can’t develop his players. There’s no growth at all especially at pitching. Can you honestly say that you’ve seen improvement in the baseball program under Erstad?
