  1. One trophy was invented by a head coach who's a little weird, and no one else was interested. The other was invented by a fan (Faux Pelini) and embraced by the fans, seemingly of both teams. There's a big difference between the 2. Also, Diaco named his trophy after the civil war. *rolls eyes*

  5. From Shatel.... "He wasn’t loud or boisterous or showy. He was a character because of his stories, his way of spreading philosophy on everything. But more than that, it was that boyish twinkle in his eye, that would show up in Omaha each June at just the right time, when we all needed to be reminded why we loved eight teams full of kids running it out, and sunshine and families and autographs and ice cream and a great, great game. Every year at the CWS, I will forever see Garrido’s twinkle. And I will hope that Fullerton comes to Omaha. And I will always root for the

  6. 184--Venz just put a beating on Renda (NCST) and wins 11-3 to lock up AA and avenge a loss from earlier in the year! Venz had an unbelievable 6:40 of riding time. To give you an idea of how dominant that is...matches are 7:00 in length. Nebraska goes 3 for 4 in the blood round to lock up 3 AAs. They'll pick up action tomorrow morning.

  9. A power clean is just an indication that the hips don't descend below the knees during the lift. Full clean (from the floor), hang cleans (high hang, low hang, pocket, etc), and box cleans, among others could all be done "power" or full (squat cleans isn't a term used outside of CrossFit). I wonder if these guys are squatting high bar or low bar in the back squat. If they have been using front squat for a couple of years and switch to a low bar back squat, the numbers they're lifting are going to go up by a very large amount regardless of whether they are actually stronger. 16. It wont change. trump-ism is the party's go forward path because its become the party of the intellectually lazy, those living in constant fear and outrage (ie far right media consumers), the bigoted and the christians all lead by the spineless. The chances of any one of those groups collectively going "we didn't sign up for this" is about zero. It was the path before trump ever came into the picture. It's been the path since fox news and talk radio realized they'd make tons of money stirring up outrage of those people and the republicans started having to swing right to the tea

  21. This is true, and what prevents this from being the norm isn't science, it's culture. The "work hard" culture, especially at extremes where excessive hours are the expected norm for everyone, is not the best for productivity. Humans function best in small chunks. Do something for a little bit, then do something else. Small shifts are better than big shifts. Doing an activity for ten minutes is better for learning than doing it for an hour. Your brain just kinda turns off after a while. Culturally, and this definitely applies to football coaches, we put a value on work

  22. ^ we're due for another national championship in 2018 or 2020 depending on how you read the pattern. There are probably others I don't see. But I'm going with 2020.

  23. +1 But what also needs to happen is a difficult conversation about why the Democratic alternative hasn't been compelling or motivating enough --- essentially getting bullied by an extremist minority that doesn't even share the values of bedrock Republicans. That conversation starts with intellectual laziness as well.

I know for a fact marijuana can and has helped many cancer patients. Both feel better and increasing their appetites. An uber conservative father of a friend of mine used it after he got cancer and it really improved his quality of living. IMO it will save us a lot of $ if we're not arresting people who are consuming something that is less detrimental than alcohol. Also, Blacks are arrested at a much higher rate for marijuana and part of the re

  29. In case you're wondering, wrestling will fire up again at 10a CDT with Championship bracket quarterfinals and rounds 2 and 3 of the consolation bracket. Wrestling will be shown on ESPNU although I'd suggest watching it on ESPN3 as you're able to select an individual mat to watch. Kudos to ESPN as the streaming picture has been top notch with minimal buffering. If Berger and White win this morning, they'll secure AA status. Berger has #1 seeded Hidlay of NCST, Berger lost 6-3 to Hidlay earlier this year White has #3 seeded Joseph of PSU who is the defending

  30. I didn't answer any of the poll questions. My perception of conservatism is mostly with the economic side and I don't agree with much of it. I feel like I would be good at formulating a conservative message though. We all know the GOP base will dwindle since they are still skewed to older ages and Whites. Conservatives need to reach people who will agree with them on the economy but not drive away people with some of the other GOP philosophies. So I would suggest the following: a) Legalize marijuana. And talk about it a lot. b) Go back to Obama (pre-Sessions

ISIS has been defeated, North Korea has been forced to the bargaining table, and our enemies fear us once again. Remind me again why I should care what Trump tweets when he’s so clearly doing such a better job than Obama?

  34. Agree Knapp and well stated. Years ago at the time of Roe v Wade - we didn't have the detailed imaging, and monitoring systems that we have now. We can look into the womb at a very early age and see and understand what is going on. The "blob of tissue" argument was discredited a long time ago. So what measurement do we use? Life at Conception, Life @ brain activity, Life @ viability??? I believe that Life begins at conception as many on the Prolife side believe - even if we call it potential life - all life is important and each life has the ability to impact

  35. BRB - I agree with you on this. This is a political hot potato because politicians on both sides want it to be - the more we can point fingers and not solve the issue or at least properly define as Knapp brings up, we will continue to have this topic as the "mother of all fund raisers" for politicians on both sides. To your point - Pro life people are primarily - "Pro Life" - that is how we have always defined ourselves - however when the other side defines them as 'anti-choice' or anti abortion primarily that distorts our position - Whoever defines the terms (language) controls

  36. You keep trying to turn the pro-life movement into an indictment on women and their ability to make a decision. It's a savvy political move, but it's also bulls#!t. It has much less ( not at all) to do with women and their decision making, and everything to do with saving an innocent life that, as of right now, has no say in whether they live or die. More times than not (by some margin) you get pregnant because of a decision that YOU (man and woman) made. With decisions come responsibility. It's interesting that you speak to the possible inconvenience a child may bring to a woman f

  37. What is hyperbolic about that post exactly? I mean, it was direct. Liberals are typically in favor of abortion, no? Liberals are also known to be up in arms if a white man chooses to take on characteristics of another culture... Or no? I mean, one of those seems to be a crime against humanity, while the other?.... It was simply an observation on how Liberals typically choose to allocate their sympathy, and energy.
