  1. Coach Reggie Davis: It is tough to get complete backs to commit to DONU. Coach Held: Hold my beer! Dude is doing work. Completely changing that RB room in a hurry. Lots of speed and versatility seen from the guys they have targetted. Looks like Frost and Co. are serious about wanting to be able to run the football.

  5. He’s a thousand percent done,” Watson said. “I handle our school’s recruiting, so almost all the text messages and phone calls come to me. That’s just how we do it, and I made it clear, Ronald is done. This is done.”

  7. What a snag here, we are now officially done with the RB room I would presume for 2019. One of these guys is a replacement in case Washington never plays a down here. Others have alluded to this as well but this guy will play the Duck R position or the position that Miles Jones and Tyjon will play. This is just my perspective on it, he may play the true RB position but I see him fitting that Miles Jones role really well. Basically, just get the man on the field! Thompkins is getting over an ACL injury as well which may be a reason why some schools have backed off but it looks like he is recovered and ready to play. Ryan Held> Donte Williams as a recruiter, unpopular but true opinion. Also, Donte is a fantastic recruiter nothing to take away from him but looking at it from a Nebraska perspective Held is better and you see why. Done with RB room and now will go and hit up jucos and go recruit other positions to solidify the class.

  9. Didnt say as a whole. Just meant at the RB position. They signed Devine Ozigbo, Tre Bryant (who could be a solid complete back if healthy), and snagged Bradley late. Not great results in 3 classes of RB recruiting. Held has got M. Jones, Greg Bell, Rahmir Johnson, Ronald Thompkins, and Thomas Grayson since December. Ron Brown did a great job with the RB position under Pelini. Almost too good with AA, Heard, and Green.

  10. Hadn't noticed this: Osita Ekwonu & Jack Kiser, who are both inside guys, committed to ND this week. Not sure how many ILB they were looking to take but that shouldn't hurt our chances. I'm cautiously optimistic that as long as Wisky doesn't unexpectedly blow him away we might snag this one.

  15. I believe Frost would encourage them to take all the visits they want. Just don't commit. Not that he's going to pull the offer like Iowa. But I can see him telling the kids to make the most of it and they will be there ready to accept them once they are all done.

  17. truth. They needed a 3 down back that can run inside/outside zone, pass pro, and occasionally get hit in the facemask with a screen pass. Leaves you missing out on a ton of talented backs.

  19. I just picked some that I thought were most interesting... The 2018 CFB preseason schedule superlatives Most scenic schedule: Navy Many people join the Navy for the opportunity to travel the world. Navy's football team isn't globetrotting this fall -- or taking a boat from port to port, although that would be fun -- but its schedule away from Annapolis is extremely inviting. The Mids open at Hawaii, as coach Ken Niumatalolo returns to his home state to face his alma mater. Navy also heads out to the Rockies to face Air Force and, on Oct. 27, plays annual rival Notre Dame in San Diego, a huge military town with idyllic weather almost year-round. Music lovers will love a Nov. 24 trip to play Tulane in New Orleans, and an Nov. 10 trip to UCF could include a Disney World detour. The delayed home-opener schedule: North Carolina One advantage of being a Power 5 team is fattening up the home schedule, especially early in the season. Iowa doesn't leave Kinnick Stadium until Oct. 6. Oregon and Oklahoma State don't hit the road until Sept. 29. And then there's North Carolina, which opens the season with a cross-country trip to Cal, before making a much shorter trek (110 miles) to East Carolina. The Tar Heels are the only Power 5 team to open with two true road games. Including last year's finale at NC State, North Carolina will go 302 days between games at Kenan Stadium, as it hosts UCF on Sept. 15. Toughest road schedule for new coach: Nebraska's Scott Frost Frost could become governor of his home state before even coaching a game for his alma mater. Nebraska's home slate is fairly manageable for its new leading man. The road schedule, meanwhile, is merciless. Nebraska must visit defending Big Ten champ Ohio State, defending division champ Wisconsin, a talent-stocked Michigan team, a Northwestern team that won 10 games last year and an Iowa team that has beaten the Huskers by a combined score of 96-24 in the teams' last two meetings. Frost likely won't get much sympathy from first-year Oregon State coach Jonathan Smith, whose team visits Ohio State, Washington and Stanford, among others. Most lopsided schedules: Wake Forest and Iowa After opening the season Aug. 30 at Tulane, the Demon Deacons can settle in to their home surroundings. Their next road trip doesn't come until Oct. 20 as they play five consecutive home games, including two ACC Atlantic opponents (Boston College, Clemson) and Notre Dame. The flip side is after mid-October, Wake Forest plays just two home contests and has trips to Florida State and Louisville in consecutive weeks. Iowa doesn't leave Kinnick Stadium until Oct. 6, playing its first four at home. But then the Hawkeyes play four of five on the road in a span of just 29 days. Least adventurous road schedule: Florida This shouldn't be a huge surprise. Florida practically invented this award by almost never venturing outside the state for non-league games. This fall, the Gators will play all 12 of their regular-season games in three states: Florida (nine games), Tennessee (two games) and Mississippi (one game). The Florida portion includes a road trip to Florida State and the traditional neutral-site contest with Georgia in Jacksonville. Most Texas-centric opening schedule: TCU Unlike some Power 5 teams, TCU will venture away from its campus a few times early in the season. Just not very far. The Horned Frogs play only one true home game in the first three weeks but won't leave the Metroplex as they visit SMU in Week 2 and play Ohio State at AT&T Stadium, just 18 miles east of campus. TCU then hits the road for its Big 12 opener at Texas before returning home for three straight home contests. It means Gary Patterson's team won't make its first trip outside the state until Oct. 27, when the Frogs visit Kansas. Most road-avoidant schedule: Ole Miss Matt Luke begins his first season as Ole Miss' permanent coach with a game against Texas Tech in Houston. The Rebels' next game away from Oxford takes place Oct. 13 at Little Rock's War Memorial Stadium, which Arkansas still considers a home venue even though it plays there once a year. The Arkansas and Ole Miss campuses are about equidistant from Little Rock, so you could argue Ole Miss will play only one true road game (Sept. 29 at LSU) before visiting Texas A&M on Nov. 10.

  20. Pure speculation on my part here. My guess is they really want Thompkins and they weren't as high on the Alabama QB. Again, speculation on my part.

  21. So the million/billion $ question is - where do we look? Evan and others need to start a new more moderate party and chuck the existing or some how stage a revolt against Trump and those who have taken over the party. Maybe it is time the libertarian party gets serious and get real candidates and not just nut jobs or near nut jobs. Johnson wasn't a full nut job but he was kind of flaky

  22. I said "allegedly" because that was the prevailing thought in the QB's profile. It does seem odd with how they want a commitment to be done and all N that they would take one from someone that hasn't visited the campus and facilities yet. But as long as he sticks with it, it's all good.

  26. Surprised nobody had posted this yet. Looks like Manafort isn't getting the benefit of the doubt anymore. I wonder how the MAGAheads who chanted "Lock her up!" feel about this. Manafort beat Hillary to jail. I'm sure she'll be headed there any day now, though...

  27. Frost & Co. were late to the party in terms of when this kid became a commodity. Thus, we could miss on him. But you just gotta love that we have Frost to sell and we have a LB coach that was a stud and successful in the NFL. If he passes on us it won't be our fault ... it's just what was inherited and the timing. In 2-3 years I think this situations will work into our favor for sure. I'll give Wisky credit for their own accomplishments. Additionally, they have produced some fine LB's. I hate Wisky ... that is all.

  28. Yes let him go to the program copy cats. At the end of the day do you want to play for the duplicate or the original?

  29. My viewpoint on this is simple. If you took every AD in the country and said you are losing your current coach. You can only choose a coach from the big 10 for your replacement. I think Urban Meyer is the most selected and Scott Frost would be second. Jim Harbaugh and James Franklin a toss up for 3rd.

  34. yes. Unless you think Paul Chryst is the best coach in the B1G, since he's the 2 time reigning B1G coach of the year. Interestingly, Urban Meyer has never won that award.

  36. I in college, where I played ball...we were in film room watching PRACTICE film (practice??!?) We had this 6’7” tackle who was pretty good but he was LAAAZY at practice. We were doing drills and this guy got beat like 3 times in a row. The final one we watched (over and over and over), I was on defense, he got pushed back a little, side stepped off balance, and then just worked underneath his pads straight to the dummy QB. It took all of 2.5 seconds. the O-line coach slams the controller on the floor breaking it, and screams, “goddammit son, you just got tossed like a used rubber!!!” greatest day of film and locker room jargon I ever heard in my whole life. Man...I miss football sometimes.

  37. Thats great but during the time that this was the tradition, Nebraska was at the top of the game. If you started for Nebraska that meant you might have put another guy out of playing that could be the 3rd best in the country at that position. The hate on Bo for trying to make players accountable for a scared tradition of excellent play is ludicrous. If you didn’t like his demeanor, that’s whatever, but thought was correct. The thinking of the current coaches is similar. Coaches wanting accountability for a prestigious position. Call my silly but it is the right thing to do until we see them start to resemble what the coaches want, that may take years to accomplish but I think at some point it will go back to starters every year. It will take a monumental effort to start here after a couple years.
