  1. Not sure if this is the right place to post this. But someone close to the program sent me this last night. Maybe graduate transfer?

  6. I pop over from time to time, and every time they lose a guy, it's because he was surpassed on the depth chart and he wasn't good enough anyway, and saw the writing on the wall so... guess he's not that good and we should turn him away.

  7. The coolest part to me is that Frost and Nebraska initiated nothing ... he just simply appreciate what Frost did for him that he "wanted to help him rebuild what he (Frost) loves back at Lincoln." If you think about it ... Frost going back to coach UCF and those kids in the bowl ... it might have hurt our recruiting a bit ... but Neal is coming here because of Frost's commitment to Neal as a player. Special ... very special.

  11. I remember reading Eric Lueshen's story when he was invited by local radio to speak about his experiences at Nebraska. You can imagine what it was like for one of the first openly gay players in that locker room. It's a story worth reading. The gay kicker and the homophobe Eric lays out his thoughts on the Ron Brown hire here. He's definitely interested in opening dialog. It'd be great for the locker room if Husker coaches, especially Ron Brown, take him up on that offer. Gay former Husker football player talks about Nebraska hiring Ron Brown

  12. Yes. And that raid may prove to be one of the biggest events in American political history in the last 100 years. They need to release those tapes. American voters have a right to hear this man discussing hush-money for an affair with a woman whose claim to fame consists of nude pics in a magazine Evangelical Christians forced out of convenience stores in recent years.

  13. I think a lot of people vaguely care about things but just blithely go through life without giving many things much thought. I think we all do this from time to time - whether that's ignorance of the travails of the opposite gender, the nuances of life as someone of a different race, religion, age, societal background, etc. I think a lot of people don't intend to discriminate, but they're so used to viewing the world through their filters and they give zero thought to the fact that other people have different life experiences that they unintentionally impact others. I think we all should know more about how our actions impact others, intentionally or unintentionally. But I think we all fail in that necessary empathy. Some more than others. Some more willfully than others.

  14. I think the pushback against the Confederate flag has been somewhat recent, as in, the past 15-20ish years. In my childhood it was a non-threatening relic of bygone days. The Dukes of Hazzard most famously displayed the flag, and they were accepted throughout the country as "good ol' boys" and there was no racism inherent in the show. I think post-WWI / WWII the whole concept of the rebellious South took a huge backstep. We came together pretty well as a country, especially in WWII, which required total war/participation. During that time there was plenty of racism, the KKK was alive & well, but for the rest of the country (as in, not the antebellum South) there were no worries about that flag. The racists kept their thoughts mostly to themselves, and a couple of generations lived & grew without giving the Confederate flag much thought. I genuinely think electing a Black man as president is what brought that simmering racism to a boil. Much like the erecting of Civil War statues follows a pattern of civil rights advances by Blacks, once Obama entered the White House, racists responded.

  15. I think this is a good thing. 1. Jordy was not good on either end of the floor 2. This SHOULD force Miles to play up and down, fast and aggressive. I think the Skers will win a lot of games with that style.

  17. If I may, let's compare Tom Osborne to Ron Brown. Tom Osborne has long worn his Christian faith on his sleeve and was never shy about using Christianity in his coaching or in his public speaking. I recall as a freshman at UNL, Dr. Tom gave a speech at the Lied Center to the incoming students, and there was quite a bit pf preachiness about morality and such, but he did not cross the line into marginalizing or excluding people based on a certain demographic. If I were a betting man, knowing that Tom Osborne is an older, conservative, devout Christian, I would bet that perhaps he shares some of Ron Brown's views on homosexuality. But Tom Osborne is a smart man who practices good judgment and takes care not to make controversial statements or to single out entire classes of people. I, and many others, are quite tolerant of Tom Osborne's religion and his politics, even if there are things that I might disagree with. Ron Brown on the other hand, said what he said out loud, in public, using the weight of his public persona, and did not apologize. He can believe what he wants, and once again has done plenty of great things on and off the football field. Nobody wants Christians segregated, vocal or not. That is simply dramatic hyperbole. But vocal Christians certainly have avenues to express their faith without stomping on the rights of others.

  18. This just isn't true at all. Neither Frost nor Nebraska "took him from UCF". Tre initiated this. This was the players desire. I read a tweet today stating four or so points that UCF fans need to understand about Tre going to Nebraska ... and that was the main point ... Nebraska did not initiate this ... HE DID.

  19. It's entertaining. Even if they're right that Neal wasn't going to start, I trust UCF's previous coaches in evaluating talent more than I trust UCF's current coaches.

  20. Are there still people that think it's simply a life choice? Probably I guess. I've seen enough to know that most, if not all, people's orientation is determined at birth. And yes that should be enough evidence for those who seem to have a problem with it to just accept them being that way. Maybe someday.

  23. " One day a man saw a snake being burned to death in a fire so he tried to take the snake out of the fire , when he did, the snake bit him. The.snakes bite caused terrible pain. The man dropped the snake back in the fire and the snake was burning again. The man attempted to pull the snake out again.and the snake bit him again. Someone who was watching asked the man and said: Do you understand every time you try to get the snake out of the fire, it's going to bite you??? The man replied the snakes nature is to bite, and my nature is to always help, others. So the man took a garden hoe and got the snake out of the fire and saved him. Don't change your nature just because someone does harm to you!!! Don't change your character only be wiser. Some people will hurt you, trick you and use you. Wise up and learn to stop enabling and learn how and when to give help.......Always just with wisdom!"

  33. There are lots of variances of why people fly the confederate flag. Someone sitting in Kentucky or Georgia or Louisiana very well might view it as part of their heritage. Some have convinced themselves it's a symbol of their fight against the federal government and state's rights. Someone sitting in Nebraska or Iowa might do it because it makes them feel rebellious against governmental authority. Some ignorant SOBs probably still do it in those areas claiming it's part of their heritage even though their state was fighting against it (or not even formed yet). However, I have yet to find someone who flies that flag and at the same time argues for equality and tolerance of various groups in the US. So, weather it's conscious or unconscious, there's a lot of 'isms tied to the flag that draws people to it.

  34. I can appreciate a person reading the Bible and glad to know you have done so. I would only ask if it was to read it to argue with somebody or read it to learn. There is a big difference in the heart regarding the two ways of reading. Due to reading it you may know the reference to Leviticus and the cutting of hair was only for the Levites to set them apart for the priesthood. Also that this was a type and shadow of how God was setting his people apart from others and training them to be able to recognize Jesus when he came. Thousands were converted directly after Pentecost because they were able to see how Jesus fulfilled all the Old Testament. This of coarse causes the other people of the world to hate those who have been set apart. A complaint is that a Christian is arrogant to claim to be saved and yet to this day is a sinner themselves. You said a Christian uses the Bible for bigotry and hate against the alphabet soup of the sexual proclivities/genitalia identification population which is certainly not the case for a true Christian. I recognize ignorant Christians if they are Christian at all due use the Bible as a hammer. I hope the following will help show what should be done. I wish people for all sides could understand that a real Christian points out sin because they love the persons soul. A Christian is duty bound to point out sin in the life of another Christian as a way to help them. They also point out sin in others as a way to show the need of Christ. The example of a Christian helping another Christian is one of the things I have experienced before. The love that was shown to me was that a Christian not only pointed out the sin in my life but helped me out of it. That is where most Christians probably fail. Many times a Christian and an unbeliever only feels an attack. I had a different Christian prior to this incident point out the same sin but it was not done in a loving way. I felt guilty about the sin but done nothing about the problem. That person only pointed out the sin and offered no remedy. I was living with my girlfriend giving the appearance of marriage and sex before marriage even though there was not out of an agreement my now wife and I had at the time. The loving Christian first identified several people one of us could live with and then came to me pointing out the sin and making the offer. We accepted the loving offer and lived apart for the next few months until married. It was a true blessing because it made marriage more than just living together! It was now a God honoring covenant between the two of us. Many only see this type of help as an attack but the pointing out of sin is so the person will recognize sin and turn away from it. The experience with the loving Christian who was bold enough to point out the sin and also offer help motivated me. I got a bachelors degree and began studying for a Master of Divinity with original biblical languages. I was tired of having to rely on what others thought of the Bible from its origins to the present. I now have a Masters degree and know it for myself. With true study, the Bible has a reasonable argument for every objection I have ever had or heard of. Yet some of those reasonable arguments are hard for some to come to grips with such as why would a loving God allow a baby to die of cancer etc.... I don't plan on making further replies but I hope you now understand my position on such issues.

  36. This is a weird hire to me. An off the field position that otherwise wouldn't get any attention heck i didn't even know james rogers held that position. It would seem to me you could have found a person who is a good mentor that could have filled this position without brown's baggage. It's the first head scratching thing Moos or frost has done foe me. Just seems like something you would do to try to get good will from the older fans but frost is already as popular as possible. Just seems unnecessary.

  37. In the video Ron Brown states that the City Council is incapable of rendering the correct decision because he doesn't believe they have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Ron DOES have that personal relationship, and it informs him categorically that homosexuality is a sin. The proactive part is where he drove 50 miles to a public meeting to hold forth with moral superiority and a Memorial Stadium address.

  38. I'm betting it's the "B", it's the only one in your moniker haha<sarcasm>. Not all LGBTW get offended at every little thing, but a lot of them do, so you're welcome over anytime bud. My wife works in the LGBTQ field and she is not allowed to have any of them over to our house because all they do is tell us that we shouldn't call our kids "him" or "her", we should let them choose their own, so i've banned all of her LGBTQ friends from our house other than the ones who accept our rights. I've learned the LGBTQ try and push their opinions on everyone else and we should either accept it or we are considered bigots, funny how the understanding should only go one way and by god you better accept it or else. As for Coach Brown, welcome back, glad to have you, but in this time and era you can't have your own opinion anymore, it has to adhere to the hive mind or you're an outcast and in my opinion that's complete BS.

  39. We have people saying that RB hates the rule of law because he disagrees with the ruling of some legislators. That this position makes the Bible a small portion of the conversation and somehow it is acceptable to segregate Christians off into their own schools or locations. Does it make things all better when you don't have to see and hear a Christian in your public space? Somehow, a Christian cannot disagree with the local, state, or federal laws without being an evil person. People say he is pushing his view onto people. Well how about the pushing of the homosexual agenda onto Christians. You cannot watch a TV show, a movie, read a magazine without homosexuality being pushed and glorified. But a Christian must be silenced.

  42. Seems like the theme for this thread is more schematic than intangibles that Frost and his staff bring to the table, so I will try to stick with the theme. This scheme is really impressive, but I have been studying it before Frost was hired. It manipulates safeties, creates space for speed, and has exit/safety throws on every play. This scheme alone will probably win Nebraska a game and a half that they would normally not win. Everything is easy for the offense and difficult for the defense to adjust to it. The QB has the hardest job because he has to make good pre snap reads and quick decisions with the football after the snap. Most of what he reads will be pre snap i.e. 5-man box = run, 6-man box = run/pass, 7-man box = pass. The old Nebraska offense is hidden in there with triple option on every play. Old school power with the guard pulling with a QB run off the back end, tackle power with a QB run off of it, and then throw both of those in with a safety bubble....this is the stuff that makes D coordinators heads spin. I couldnt imagine trying to prepare for this offense. Its very unorthodox and also "Old School". Oh and did I mention they snap the ball every 18 secs? Whoa! I think this scheme will put us in games that we otherwise would not be in...just watch.
