  1. I just read some really frustrating s#!t and honestly it's kind of got me a bit disjointed and disappointed. This isn't a "LET'S BASH TRUMP" thread because apparently 99% of us do that in 99% of threads. Let's make it an actual discussion thread where we can, if they arise, entertain varying ideas and just let facts, reality, and common sense lead us toward a conclusion. Here's a few things that seem at odds to me, to start: Jesus Christ teaches non-violent resistance towards corrupt empire power. The GOP controls all three branches of government and is heavily influenced by corporate money from organizations that do things such as tax the poor and harm the planet, as well as spend twice as much money towards military might as towards social safety net programs. Jesus Christ teaches fidelity and faithful commitment with sexual/romantic integrity. Donald Trump has been divorced twice, has been unfaithful in his marriages at least four times, has tried to use the power of money to solve and hide his infidelity, speaks about women in incredibly demeaning language, has very nearly admitted past acts of sexual assault, and has been accused by 19 women of varying degrees of sexual harassment. Trump also doesn't think he has ever asked for forgiveness for his sins. Jesus Christ told a parable of the Good Samaritan, the lesson being a clear rebuke of Israel's nationalism and a call toward inclusion and viewing the dirty foreigners with the same level of love and respect you would view someone of your own 'kind'. Donald Trump called to ban all Muslims from entering America, and then tried to enact a similar type of policy. Do those seem like as obvious of incompatible contradictions to you as they do to me? Can you think of ways in which Trump or the GOP actually embody a Christian spirit of love god and your neighbor? of taking care of orphans and widows? of humility and grace and repentance and inclusion? Can you think of other ways in which they stand in direct contradiction to those things?

  4. "HEY GUY I AM BASELESSLY FORMING AN OPINION THAT YOU DIDN'T DESERVE TO GET INTO YOUR SCHOOL AND YOU DIDN'T DO GOOD THERE!" "Okay, well...why would you think that?" "DOESN'T MATTER NOW IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PROVE ME WRONG OR ELSE" "No, I don't need to...--" "HA. I KNEW IT. I KNEW YOU WERE HIDING SOMETHING." "I'm not hiding anything I just don't feel any obligation or desire to cater to this ridicul--" "HEY EVERYBODY THIS GUY WON'T RELEASE HIS RECORDS SO OBVIOUSLY HE'S A FRAUD" ...am I understanding this argument correctly? Okay everyone keep throwing out accusations about Ric Flair's credentials and intelligence so that when he refuses to show us his records we can confirm that he's not the brightest bulb.

  7. The complete lack of holding penalties on Northwestern when it was pretty blatant they were holding VS the fact we had two DEFENSIVE holding penalties against us, that's what really sours me on the officiating from that game. And did he intentionally ground it? Absolutely. Was there a receiver in the area? Kinda. Did that receiver ever have a shot at either "pass" or have any clue he was throwing it? Hell no. It's a dumb rule and it only pisses us off because it gifted them yards on the drive that tied the game. And best believe we would have gotten flagged on it because we are known to get flagged.

  9. When our Trump Fan HuskerBoard friends complain that everything we post here is anti-Trump, just once I'd like them to answer for how things like this are OK. I don't want to be posting garbage like this. But here we are, with a Republican government and we're not only running huge deficits and dealing with a Manchurian Candidate in the Oval Office, but we have people who hate the environment running the EPA. The only reason for things like this is that someone can make a profit doing it. That's the basis for all of the things they do. Greed.

  10. I can't even come up with an excuse as to why the B1G would want Nebraska to be bad. The B1G doesn't want to have 0-6 teams in their conference because it makes the conference look bad. They don't want one of their blue blood programs to be bad. If you haven't noticed, the B1G is about making lots of money. When Nebraska is good again, it will make the B1G more money.

  11. They scored 10 points in each of the two games prior to last year's game and were shutout in the two games after. Their offense last year was anemic, yet they still scored 54 on us.

  20. Too bad that Morgan's time at NU is during our darkest 4 year stretch ever. These are some great catches in these posts that I don't even remember because so many of these games, and entire seasons, are forgettable altogether. I know it's water under the bridge now, but on this particular play, why the hell did Lee even throw the ball to Morgan when the DB's arms were literally wrapped all the way around him at the time? Trying to pick up a PI?

  21. Is it insane? I’m not saying I agree with this theory, but it’s not insane either. Some of you folks really want to believe college football is immune from this type of corruption. Delaney has publicly said he essentially would like to cater to NCAA sports gambling. That shows where his priorities are. But some of you insist that any thought of chicanery is insane. It’s just us poor fans with our feelings hurt looking to spread the blame anyway we can. While I have no knowledge of any specific wrongdoing by anyone, I’m not going to sit here and make excuses for the refs or otherwise believe that college football is so squeaky clean that this couldn’t happen.

  24. Oh I completely agree. I just think it takes all question out of the equation. Say Bradley Transfers out and Miles moves to full time WR. Then you have Mazour, Mills and Washington and whoever signs this year.

  26. I didn't expect them to. None of the Trumpsters on this board want to acknowledge any of the realities of their party. They want to pretend the Fox & Friends narrative is true and anything that runs counter to that is to be ignored or shouted over.

  28. 99.9% of us know that. If there is officiating bias, it's because we're a bad team and the officials don't give us the benefit of the doubt like they might give to other teams.

  29. I picked 1, B-C. Until the team shows it can actually win and not give away the games I can't pick them to win more than the FCS opponent. This team should be 3-3 or 4-2 but just can't get out of its own way. I think they turn it around at some point, just not sure if it is this year. Still have 100% faith in Frost over the long haul but it could 3-4 years to get things back on track I'm afraid.

  30. Nope. In Chins eyes we should......I want to see him either use his scheme or adjust to the personnel we have. That's the question of the OP. If we don't have the personnel, but run his scheme and fail, who's fault is it? His? Because he doesn't adjust or the kids because they can't run his scheme. I give you this quote again......“Either we’re going to have the personnel to get to the quarterback or I’m going to have to manufacture it,” Chinander said. “That’s my job. Don't talk about what you want to do and not do it. The quote above in layman terms...........I'll use talent or scheme to get to the QB. If we are lacking in talent, then scheme to get around the lack of talent...... So again, Chin thinks we should get pressure on the QB. And playing up on people in coverage. IMHO, it's a combination of players and scheme......I am not sure why some blame one and exonerate the other.

  31. Playmakers aren't the problem. Give me two solid lines offense and defense and it makes average players look like playmakers.

  34. I'm not going to bail Chinander out here, because he's had some boneheaded alignments and his blitzes are terrible. But this is not just a Chinander problem, it's an ongoing issue of bad schemes and worse personnel. This dates back to the era after Suh & David. We've played 70 games since Lavonte David's era. In those 70 games, we've held opponents to 17 points or fewer 19 total times. We won all but one of those games. 7 were under Bo 12 were under Riley 0 were under Frost We've given up 30 or more points 31 times. That's 44% of all games over 5 1/2 years. We won six of those games. 17 were under Riley 9 were under Bo 5 were under Frost These problems have persisted for years, under different head coaches. It's likely not just the Jimmy's & Joe's, and it's likely not just the coaching. Some of it likely has to do with stuff like, for fifth-year seniors, Chinander is their fourth defensive coordinator. We need a stable coaching staff, several years of solid recruiting, and guys brought in to match the system we want to run.

  35. Why this spread? Because Vegas, unlike some of the supposed Nebraska “fans” in other threads, have seen what most of the sane, rational fan base has witnessed—that there has been progress made, that the team is getting better, and they’re getting close to turning the corner. And lest anyone forget...Vegas is in the business of making money. They have zero f***s to give about the feelings of Nebraska fans. They’re using their own eyeballs and making a judgement call.

  36. Here is what I know and have seen play out in every game this year: 1. Nebraska gets flagged disproportionately compared to who ever our opponent is. 2. Nebraska DBs get called for pass interference at a much higher percentage than probably any other team in the BIG. For example, last night during the Michigan v Wisconsin game, I saw DBs for both schools doing exactly what Nebraska DBs do...one hand on WRs back and the other trying to swat the ball away and no call. 3. I see DBs and WRs from every other school jostling each other and there is usually no pass interference called. 4. I see "late" hits on QBs from every defense in every game and most are no calls. Is Nebraska sloppy and undisciplined? Yes. Is there a conspiracy against Nebraska? I can't say yes, but I can't say no either. It just seems odd that Nebraska gets a lot of penalties from things that other teams get away with.

  37. Can anyone tell me how many flags were thrown on the last two drives against Nebraska? Including the ones that were declined? I watched the Louisiana State game after the Nebraska game and focused on the pass rush and PI calls made and noticed a big difference in the level of play permitted from the SEC and the Big officials. Look at the lack of calls when Nebraska was putting pressure on the QB and no call for throwing the ball in the dirt, sure there was a player close but he was in no position to catch the ball, happened twice on the second to last drive. This is called in the other conferences but not in the BIG. The same holds true for the Pac twelve and the Big twelve. The ruffing the passer penalty on the one yard line is a case in point. The SEC officials let the players play the game. Looks like the Big officials control the pace of play, the speed of play and the game itself. It sure seems like the flags come out when the game is on the line and a team from the old big ten needs to score or a team needs to stop a team from scoring. I watched many Big games this year and had this though in almost every game. Several friends have noticed the same type of officiating through the season. I don't think this is random and is something that needs to be addressed.
