  1. Why do we indulge Buckeye fan silliness by putting a t in front of OSU? It’s dumb.

  3. Just to add to this discussion: Stanley Morgan Jr needs to average 89 yards per game for the rest of the season to get to 1,000. Needs to average 78 per game for the rest of the season to be All Time receiving yards leader. Spielman needs to average 77 yards per game for the season to get to 1,000. He's only 12 yards shy of knocking Matt Davison out of the top 10 all time receiving yards. He needs 27 receptions to be #1 single season reception leader

  4. AM has lived up to the all the hype that came with him and exceeded it so far IMHO. And is great addition to the school and team. I look forward to another 3 1/2 years with him at the helm. The thing that has probably surprised me the most is his ability to throw deep. Man, does he deliver a beautiful ball when he has time. We've had so many QB's in the past years who would have a wide open receiver downfield and under throw, over throw or just plain miss them. AM more times than not just hit them in stride.

AM 23rd in comp% 37th in passing ypg Spielman 24th in receiving ypg 12th in receptions per game Morgan 48th in receiving ypg Ozigbo 40th in rushing ypg 6th in ypc Bootle 5th in passes defended

  9. The grass roots movement to resurrect that trophy was walking through the tailgates for the 2016 game. They were asking for donations since that is what the original idea for it was. My donation earned me a cool little replica.

  10. Ozigbo is a big loss, he's been a stud. Having Washington back helps and guys like Miles Jones and Mazour should be ready to contribute more. We don't have a bigger back, but that's where Mills would be good. Throw in probably one of the new freshman contributing like Washington this year and I'm pretty excited. Morgan is also a huge loss, and I think there are fewer options behind him. We need a bunch of guys to take big steps in year 2, but there is talent. Woodyard, Williams, Hunt, McQuitty, and Warner are all options but even assuming they develop it's a step down. I think Farmer and Foster are better than they're given credit for, but neither are irreplaceable. Center does concern me since the next man up seems to be a walk-on Sophmore (H. Miller) and I don't think Jurgens will be ready next year. He needs 30-40 pounds and is learning a brand new position - if he is the guy great, but I'm not counting on it yet. Maybe Will Farniok or Raridon are options. But the tackles and Wilson return, and I'm confident we can find another guard, probably Desmond Bland. D-line we lose Freedom, Stoltenberg and Newell. They've all been good, but I don't think head and shoulders above the returning depth. NT is a little concerning since we're pretty much down to Daniels and C. Davis there, but Fair (Juco) will help and we'll find out if Vainuku needed a year to get back into football or if that was a miss. LB - Young is gone, but if Honas comes back healthy I actually feel better about the ILBs. Maybe a little worse in coverage, Young looks lost sometimes but then others he blankets the guy. Haven't really seen Honas cover. Depth is still a problem there, but I bet either Henrich or Hannah rotate in as a freshman. Gifford will be missed, but I like a healthy Ferguson/Tannor combination. Still need depth, really just counting on 2nd year growth there. We lose a lot of Safeties, that could be interesting in a bad way. Dismuke has made it onto the field a few times, and I do really like Deontai. If Domann is healthy I feel a lot better, but there's a reason we're offering Juco safeties.

  11. Just to put the numbers out there: Over the past 10 full years (2008-2017) Nebraska had a record of 85-47 and a winning percentage of .643. That is the 22nd most wins and 24th best win percentage in the country over that span. Teams ranked 25-28 in win percentage over that span are in order - Navy, Notre Dame, Auburn and Iowa. Over that last 10 year span Michigan State had 93 wins (+8) Penn State had 89 wins (+4) Notre Dame had 82 wins (-3) Texas had 78 wins (-7) and Michigan had 74 wins (-11).

  15. Yeah these athletes are sure getting exploited playing a game, getting rockstar status, and a free "education." Sure they work hard but so does every other college student and they get no compensation. These kids get their school paid for. They get a lot of perks. And they're still just playing a game. Grad students get their research used by the universities. You don't always get compensated in life.

  16. Can I just say something here? I don't think we're a long way off. We're turnovers, penalties and a some killer instinct away from being competitive this year. It's not just about individual talent. This year's returning Buy Ins will be joined by a new group of players wanting to be here and with a lot to prove. They have to be more cohesive and disciplined. There's no other choice. Purdue just beat the crap out of Ohio State. We don't have a long way to go to become Purdue. Ergo, we are competing for the division next year.

  38. I think the GOP has for the most part strayed form a path of godliness to one that elevates maintaining power and influence above everything else. BRB posted an article in another thread that struck a chord with me. it talked about how Trump's GOP was trying to convince everyone that in everything they've done since assuming power, culminating in Kavanaugh, "might makes right." This is a deep, deep misgiving I've had with them for a long time. I've long suspected that they care far more about getting and staying in power much more than making decisions to help people. My own faith leads me to interpret the government merely as a tool for maintaining national sovereignty but primarily helping others. I don't know that the GOP as a whole really thinks that way. I think they've latched onto a handful of fairly hollow religious policy stances and designated themselves the party of the religious as a way of harvesting votes. But they've taken that title for granted and failed to actually live up to its obligations. If they were actually a godly group, they wouldn't look to slash funding for Meals on Wheels or healthcare for the less well-off. They wouldn't show utter indifference to those whose lives are inexorably altered by gun violence or talk about needing better mental healthcare but never allocate funds for it. They wouldn't stand behind sexual monsters like Roy Moore or Steve Wynn or (potentially) Kavanaugh or President Trump or attack those that suggest they shouldn't be doing so. They wouldn't find themselves almost exclusively doing the bidding of whomever can throw the most money at their re-election fund. Moreso than ever before I feel the GOP is practicing a religion of exclusion rather than inclusion. The bible calls us to care for our neighbor, not attack them if they have walked a different path or hold different views than us. The party is becoming increasingly hostile to those who don't fall in line and hold the same narrow-minded views they do. But they've got power, and they're led by a man who will go after anyone who doesn't bow & kiss the ring, so they're finally feeling comfortable coming out of their shell and showing us clearly who they are. And it's horrifying if you're not a member of the team. TL;DR: The GOP is focused on worldly, selfish concerns and have (mostly) forgotten how to live the Christian values they claim to hold dear.
