Some buckeyes worried about future recruiting battles with Huskers https://www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-football-recruiting/2018/10/98242-scott-frost-cornhuskers-further-complicate-big-ten-recruiting-landscape There are plenty of 5-foot-9 slot wideouts in the country, but make no mistake about it, Robinson is a kid the Ohio State staff has really been pushing for. He'd be a tremendous fit in Urban Meyer's system and has been putting up absurd numbers as a high school senior. We'll find out for sure on Thursday afternoon, but this would be a major victory for the Cornhuskers.5 points

There is so many things that went wrong with Mike Riley and his HC stint at Nebraska it is hard to count them all, but lets try. 1. He was the wrong fit for the job. He had spent his whole coaching career on the west coast. I would equate it to the hire of Howard Schnellenberger at Oklahoma in the 90's. He only lasted 1 year though. 2. He was past his prime. I knew who Mike Riley was unlike a lot of Nebraska fans. I watch a lot of PAC 12 football. I actually thought he might be a good hire in 2007 when BP was hired. He was in his prime at Oregon St and winning a lot. By 2015 he was not getting things done like he was 5-6 years earlier. I really think he looked at the Nebraska job as a way to breath life back into his desire to coach. 3. Truly great coaches all have one thing in common. They all hate to lose. Everyone likes to win, great coaches can't stand to lose. It didn't bother MR nearly enough when he lost. 4. Sean Eicherst micromanaging everything. I am sure there are other things. With all that being said, he still knows more about coaching football and the x's and o's of the game than anyone on this board.3 points

You are getting sleepy...when I snap my fingers, you will now believe you've learned *LOTS* of things, even though they're all wrong... Also, an obligatory song that covers this topic:3 points

Great news. John Garcia Jr. just put his CB in for Nebraska. His previous CB experience is 0 for 0. Taking us to 77%.3 points

We're eight games into the first season of a new head coach and we're being asked if the old WR coach was better, but, we're not allowed to include JD or Stanley because of some arbitrary whim that they're naturally gifted athletes and somehow don't count. JD already has more TDs than last year and is on pace to have more yards. Stanley should finish about where he was last year in terms of TD's (10) and total yards (just under 1,000). They're also doing this with a true freshman QB who is throwing an average of six fewer passes per game compared to a senior last year in Tanner Lee. I feel pretty good about where they're at overall.3 points

This video was so interesting to watch! I'm so estatic to have Dave in the program. His knowledge is going to help us become relevant again in college football.2 points

While I agree with Powell's statement, his comments about lying seem a bit hollow. His lies helped start a trillion dollar war and cost 500k lives. He, along with many others, is as culpable as anyone currently in power.2 points

Imagine this scenario: Trump: "I have not been subpoenaed by the special counsel" Putin: "Trump has been subpoenaed by the special counsel" Reporter: "Mr. President, do you believe Putin's claims that you have been subpoenaed by the special counsel?" Trump: "I really believe him when he says that"2 points

That's the entire right's modus operandi, they push a consistent narrative to their flock of things that aren't true, but they repeat enough across their info sphere that they become "true" to their listeners and viewers and once it's taken in as fact it's designed to scare and outrage the hell out of them. They do that because people that are afraid don't think rationally anymore and are more pliable to their "suggestions". They use small boiled down descriptions and nicknames for things because they believe (rightly) their voters are too stupid to understand that saying something like "We want to cut your healthcare and retirement benefits and pass the savings onto corporations" and calling it "cutting entitlements" means the same f#&%ing thing, they test the phrasing in their little boiled down descriptions so they generate the maximum possible outrage. They've been doing it for 30 years nationally and there are some real gems like pushing the narrative that second hand smoke isn't harmful or nicotine isn't addictive, coal/oil pollution doesn't cause climate change, and net neutrality is anti competition and bad for the consumer. A true "skeptic" (or whatever fashionable term they are using now to describe their own believing a load of bulls#!t) would notice those are all narratives that benefit their biggest corporate donors.2 points

That tweet is mind blowing. Also N is up to 73% in CBs On a more general note, Nebraska may have a very good year recruiting against Ohio St. with the timing of Urban Meyer’s health issues and other uncertainties. Frost’s guys have stability on their side and that has to be a big attraction to players coming in. Ohio State’s situation looks potentially fluid.2 points

So if this has been going on for a few years, why bring it up now, in the middle of the season? To save face for a 'retirement' at the end of this season?2 points

Religion is based on beliefs . There’s no factual data to prove any of them are “right” or “wrong “ . Science is based on factual data but it doesn’t provide answers to questions like “why are we here?” What happens after we die ?” Etc, so people turn to faith for answers . They don’t need to cancel each other out .2 points

I’d like to say that nobody saw this coming but......... @Landlord There is (was) a pretty easy solution for Urban to reduce his stress. Telling the truth, doing the right thing and being a decent human being would seem to be a good start. Unfortunately he has chosen other paths. Hard to feel too sorry for him when so much of that stress is self inflicted.2 points

I'm not so sure about the bolded. I don't want to pile on Riley just because of the stain that his coaching left on the program, and yeah he is a nice guy. But many of the values from participating in sports include: hard work, discipline, and accountability. Riley did not teach those things (not very well, anyway). I'm not sure what I would expect my own kid to learn if he played for Riley.2 points
