  8. So, uh, about that "angry violent protest" at Tucker Carlson's house. Apparently - and you'll probably want to sit down for this because the shock could kill you - Tucker Carlson may have lied about what happened. Here's the rest of the thread. You can read it in its native format if you want to click on the tweet above.

  9. Living in West Lafayette and working at Purdue I can tell you the mood has suddenly shifted from "Brohm isn't going anywhere!" to "Oh S*&t!" real quick. Half of Brohm's staff are also Louisville alums. My neighbor is Reggie Johnson, D-line coach for Purdue and played D-tackle at Louisville. He and another coach have daughters enrolled at Louisville right now. Purdue fans can talk about how great of a job Purdue is. My neighbors even said to me a couple weeks ago,"Why would he leave when he has auto-wins in Illinois, Minnesota and Nebraska in the division?" The truth is that while Purdue did upgrade football facilities for the first time in forever (and they do look sharp), finally got lights on their stadium for primetime games, and the academics are top notch but these factors do not overcome the city of West Lafayette and Lafayette. WL is very much a college town bubble but Lafayette is as rust-belt as it gets with smoke stacks spewing into the sky. There is very little to do here, Indy is an hour away. The mentality that the Big 10 West is easier to win that having Clemson in your division at Louisville is also a fallacy. Coaches like Brohm don’t get where they are by shying away from challenges and taking the easy way out. Also, they can't sell out games. Purdue athletic department was advertising tickets still available for the Ohio St game 3 days prior for $45. A commercial yesterday went across the screen for this weekends Wisconsin game, $15 tickets. The stadium isn't that big. Purdue fans don't quite understand that their cute little football upstarts hold nothing to the big dogs. Louisville may be a mess but they have better everything but academics IMO. And Brohm has already pulled in the top WR in Kentucky from Louisville. He also another top WR from Indy that is undecided. Wandale may be back in play for him at L-ville as well. I think he would get a quick infusion of talent at WR where he needs it to be successful.

  10. I was thinking about this today. Not trying to take anything away from Martinez because he's a stud. And he's definitely made a huge difference. But he can't do it by himself. And basically every other significant contributor on offense was here last year. Linemen. Receivers. Ozigbo. Etc. Washington is really the only other new guy who's made much of an impact at all. The rest of it is pretty much all getting more out of what we already had.

  16. Devine Ozigbo spent the off-season losing 30 pounds and getting into better shape. 30 pounds is a lot. I don't think anyone was wrong about him. He was a reliable, hard-working short yardage back sharing carries with the speedier, shiftier featured backs. Everyone liked Ozigbo, but there were probably more people thinking Newby or Cross or Bryant or Wilbon deserved more carries. Just a few weeks ago, Scott Frost had him behind both Washington and Bell. Ozigbo literally worked his a$$ off to be a better running back. Doesn't seem like the kind of guy who wanted to prove the doubters wrong. More like a guy who had to prove it to himself. Glad he's getting the chance to shine.

  21. Frost is not pass happy. The offense has a very good balance between pass and run. Sometimes I wonder why we go away from the hot hand but it could be because the player is either tired or has some health-related issue. To be honest, as long as we keep scoring on teams, I could care less how the scores come. If the pass game is working and spielman and Stanley are doing great, then keep passing. If Ozigbo and washington are running effectively then keep running. Interrupting the pass game because the fans like it when we run the ball is plain stupid. Also, passing when the other team can’t seem to be able to stop us is also not smart. I will say this again: I do not understand why we keep talking about the offense when the issue is the defense. Our offense is clicking on all cylinders and we keep the opponents guessing. Our defense is the one that can’t stop anyone.

  24. It is a very complicated issue for sure. It is not black/white or pro-life/pro-abortion. Each situation is different and requires different approaches. I'm far from being a supporter of abortion as a form of birth control, and I'm confident most Democrats would agree with me. But the Democratic position of "choice" refers to recognition of complexity in these situations. To allow families and medical practitioners the ability to confront these issues, Democrats are fully aware of the potential "ugliness" that can follow. That is why they support programs and initiatives to educate young people and give them resources to prevent unwanted pregnancies. Like I pointed out, if you are for a woman "choosing" to end her pregnancy of a dead child, you would likely support "late term abortion"

  25. Why do some unethically act like the press has an obligation to cover Trump 50/50 positive/negative? He's a reprehensible person doing reprehensible things: Widespread tax fraud exposed Updates on campaign finance crimes Acosta saga Childish response to journalist WH publishing doctored video Revoking press credentials Heartless tweets re: California fires Accusing voter fraud without evidence (again) Appointing Acting AG obviously to protect him WW1 Anniversary Travels to France on taxpayer dime Doesn't partake in planned remembrance because of light rain Merkel and Macron do, because they're not soft Instead, tweets re: California fires Manufactured pre-election INVASION drama, abruptly disregarded after election Berated WH press April Ryan for legitimate question re: Whitaker During midterm campaigns, claims Democrats are party trying to do away with pre-existing condition coverage (idiot or ignorant?) (I'm sure I missed something...) Honestly, has Trump done anything good lately?

  26. I grew up in Arthur, Nebraska which is about 150 people. I grew up on a ranch that was 20 miles away and I wouldn't change a thing about it. I currently live and teach in Broken Bow, Nebraska. I'm a big hunter and I love the opportunities that are here to do that.

  27. No kidding. There are a lot bigger lanes and much wider corners now. The same lanes Martinez is using for QB draws early in the game. Players know where they're supposed to be. It's refreshing.

  28. I had been very down on Ozigbo until this year, and his history showed that he was a pretty average back. The way he used the recruitment "over him" as motivation to get in better shape and embrace the new coaching staff is great to see. I also think the new offense is helping him immensely. Ozigbo is a type of back that takes a few yards to get going, but once he does, he's shown the ability to break tackles and make moves (his weight loss and being stronger also helps this), so he is enjoying the ability to get out in space which wasn't available under Riley/Langsdorf. EDIT: I also want to add the improvement in o-line play contributing to Ozigbo's success. During Ziggy's first long TD run against Illinois, it was a run straight up the middle, and he wasn't touched until he was 11 yards past the LOS.

  29. I didn't realize that Two Storms was the next episode, it was incredible. They did film that brilliantly. I can see how it was done with limited takes, but the skills needed by everyone involved to pull it off, incredible. Love this show, they are continuously leaving me going WTF in a good creepy way.

  31. Is ruthless the right word? I think he just calls it how he and everyone else sees it. I wouldn't want him to hold Lightbourn's hand and tell him everything will be alright. He either gets better or stays on the bench. You can't play guys that are messing up if there are alternatives.

  34. Please explain where I said that. The first phase of tax cuts reaped benefits for all Americans as they included the individual and corporate rates. As I said earlier the lowering of the corporate rates are what have helped create the record low unemployment rates including for blacks, hispanics, and asians, and have helped usher in record setting consumer confidence along with great increases in wages. The new tax cut Trump has talked about is focused just on the middle/lower income earners and would be a cut for individual rates, not the corporate rates. Again please cite a post where I stated that the previous tax cuts did not benefit middle or lower income americans.

  35. Well he is doing all he can to maintain a vibrant economy. The Fed's raising of interest rates can certainly slow it down, as well as an overall downturn in the economic cycle around the world. It's been the lowering of the corporate tax rates that have fueled all the economic records set under Trump. Now at some point those businesses will stop expanding and growing at the rate they have been, and if they fear a Democrat could take over in 2020 and bring back massive regulations, then they would slow their business from growing even more. Lot's of different contributors to what the economy might look like in 2020. Fortunately with the GOP holding the Senate, any attempts by the Democratic house to raise taxes again will not make it far.
