  3. It's weird how Obama didn't deregulate and cut corporate taxes and the economy was trending up but Trumps deregulation and corporate tax cuts are what is making the economy trend up?

  4. You know everytime a new poster comes on here and starts a new thread, I think about what a wasted opportunity it was. I mean all those years ago I could've started out with a positive plus 1 to post count ratio and been able to reflect on the "better days." Look at my ratio now. It's terrible. I'm a horrible poster and I'll never once know what it's like to be temporarily viewed as a good poster. Right now Mr. Snerdly is up there with Tuff Tiger. Nothing but gold posts. Sigh....I don't even remember what my first post was. Probably something meaningless like "fire Callahan please" or "why can't they shoot those shirts up higher?"

  6. Nebraska is up 118-14 in the 4th quarter of a football game. They put the 4th string QB in, Matt Masker. He scores a touchdown and Nebraska breaks its record of most points ever scored in a game. Did Matt Masker give the offense the boost it needed to set the scoring record?

  9. good lord....believe the right wing propaganda if you must...but there are reps of both parties in there watching the vote count. tere is also a police gaurd in there also watching for that and to protect the vote counters from the stirred up protestors outside who don't want the votes counted. if there is democratic fraud going on it has to have republican and police consent for it to happen and i highly doubt there is republican consent....and doubt the police would condone it either.

  10. Going back to the thread's original question, I will say yes, the democracy will survive Trump. There's no way the entire institution collapses by the time he is removed from office. Long term though? I'm not so sure. It could die if the Republicans installed someone with these destructive tendencies who wasn't a total s#!t for brains. We need to fortify the checks and balances because they have clearly failed us.

  11. Serious question: If Jeff Flake consistently votes the Trump/GOP agenda — determining the actual policy of the United States — but thinks Donald Trump is the wrong man to lead the Republican Party, do you honestly think he might as well be a Democrat? Cause that's just the kind of thinking that suggests our democracy will not survive Trump. That's a cult of personality. Just wanted to get us back on topic.

  13. Deregulation can really free up businesses to do what they want and maximize profit. But you really don't want to live in the world's most deregulated countries. Sometimes I think the proudest patriots don't understand America at all.

  16. The degree of the gerrymandering, particularly in the co-called rural states, has reached almost criminal proportions. Today, the politicians pick the voters, not the other way around, the way the framers envisioned. This really has to stop. The midterms really show that the rural states have been solidly captured by the Republican Party by first capturing statehouses and governorships. Once done, they really capitalized on redistricting in 2010 I'm trying figure out why farmers and small communities are so intent on voting against their own self interests, time and time again. It was, in fact, the Democratic Party of FDR which saved the parents and grandparents of today's farm voters. Rural Electrification, farm price supports, Ag extension services, Social Security, on and on...all programs begun under Democratic administrations. I think it is Social issues which turned much of the farm belt away from the Democratic Party. All my friends in rural Oregon rail more about those things than anything else. The demographics of America are changing and they simply don't like it.

  22. This is a prime example of play design that puts players in position to be successful. Think of how much easier this play is for O linemen than the pathetic play design and play calling we have seen in recent past where everybody and their dog knew a run play was going to be nothing more than handing it off to the RB to run straight forward between tackles. And, people wondered why our 5 O linemen couldn't block 7 guys.

  23. i've never heard of the idiot....but if we want to look for the most extreme s#!t on either side we could find it. if i looked i bet there are people on the right.who advocate no government money to help save sick babies ....guess that could be considered post birth abortion also. if we classify everyone that leans 1 way or the other based on the most extreme idiot you can find on either side we are definately heading towards the civil war that russia would love to see.

  24. I have not really given this thread much thought till recently. I'm beginning to wonder if it really will survive such a pathetic lying sack of crap in the Whitehouse. Evidence of this is that there will be many Trumpees repeating this crap over and over and over again, now that it's come out of the fuhrer's mouth. This pathetic human should be impeached simply because of dereliction of duty.

  25. This reply is mind boggling and it’s unbelievable that you think it makes sense. The results of economic policies are what matters when comparing the results of economic policies. I’ll continue to use the correct analysis for as long as you continue to argue that Matt Masker scoring a single touchdown in the 4th quarter of a football game to beat Nebraska’s scoring record in a single game means that he’s far better at football than Adrian Martinez. I wish I could say you know it is a terrible argument but I no longer think that’s the case.

  32. One of these two (Jeff Flake and Donald Trump) has been a Republican their entire career, and has espoused much more orthodox traditional conservative views. The other used to be a Democrat, and only flopped into being a Republican to hijack the party and take advantage of it's hysteria. I'll let you guess which is which. What do these questions matter? Less regulations and lower corporate taxes aren't the goal; a better economy is the goal. People a hundred times over in intelligence compared to you and I have fundamental disagreements and logical conclusions on the ways that this is done, so most reasonable people would say that it's possible in a number of different directions. Obama did quite a good job with his direction, which started the trend - if Trump would have kept doing the same things, the trend would have likely continued, and even though Trump has not done the same things and has reversed course on some policy approaches, the trend of a better economy is still continuing, which is good. We'll see if it lasts. The main distinction between those and this is that the first list you mentioned were all external forces of power against us, and the second list you mentioned were all social issues centered around citizens, for the most part. Be that as it may, the things we have survived in the past do not guarantee survival of new things in the future. It's not inevitable.

Apparently - and you'll probably want to sit down for this because the shock could kill you - Tucker Carlson may have lied about what happened. Here's the rest of the thread.
