Forget the record. This team has made me (and, I think, most of the State of Nebraska - and those whose hearts are still here) proud of this program again. They’ve done it not with swagger or false bravado, but with “old-fashioned” values like humility, putting TEAM ahead of individuals, along with Hard Work and (perhaps above all) relentless perseverance. I hear those things from every coach and every player interview (most recently, Sipple’s article on Ozigbo). I felt this season would be a success if I ONLY saw EFFORT on the field. If I ONLY saw a team playing for 60 minutes. If I ONLY saw hope for the future. I’ve seen MUCH MORE than that. I can feel that the culture has changed (and yes, that process has only begun and will continue). I feel that everything is pulling in the same direction, and am grateful for a process that effectively, and Nebraska-Nicely, EJECTED players who could not (or would not) fit the new (old) culture. Regardless of how the last two games turn out, this entire team (from the AD down to the Rudy-est walk-on in the program) can take pride in the EPIC TURNAROUND that has already captured the nation’s attention. A special thanks to the Seniors who can take pride in laying their own “blocks in the foundation” (some literally, pardon the pun) of the Big Red Revival. It’s a great time to be a Cornhusker fan again, regardless of the won/loss record this year. GO BIG RED10 points

Good lord people they dont even have the personnel to run their defense yet. They are recruiting their first full class right now. They have been starting two converted safeties at olb in a 3-4 Defense. They're not choosing to be bad at defense they just dont have the personnel. If they get the talent and body types they need to run a 3-4 its not like chin is going to instruct the defense to keep giving up points. I'm pretty sure if they consistently force turn overs and make tfls then the points and yards will go down as well. Its year 1 with below average talent learning a new defense just because there's an red N on the helmet doesn't mean they are automatically going to be good.6 points

And Milton apparently has a much better attitude and higher level of team commitment and playing for his brothers than Gebbia did...obviously. But I’m glad he didn’t follow and we got Martinez. May have had more of an immediate impact but, before 2AM is done, I think he will eclipse Milton. Milton is great but Martinez is going to be super special.4 points

I know how I feel about it, but such language would have to be said in the shed. But I will present my message to nice guy MR, and incompetent SE, with this jingle! Edit ~ As mentioned below, by TheSker! Add Perlman to the receivership, of these good tidings!3 points

In my mind the seniors who have hung on through 3 coaching changes and numerous coordinators are to be praised. I will remember them as the crew that laid the new foundation for the good things to come.3 points

So a few things. Even since Suhs time here the game has changed significantly. The rules and the way they are enforced heavily favor the offense now. Then you have the uptempo style Frost wants to play on O which has your Defense on the field more with less rest. Also I don’t think Chins defense is a bend defense. It’s an aggressive defense that seeks turnovers but will give up some big plays. I think that will become more apparent when he has the athletes he needs to run it correctly.3 points

Need players. I know this is a message board, but it’s really that simple. Need more explosive and fast athletes across the board. Defensive depth is also why special teams have been a struggle.3 points

A few things: #1 - the quarterback position is way different than most all other positions. #2 - what ever happened to facing reality? i mean, Tristan Gebbia faced the reality that he might not get any meaningful playing time his entire football career, and he chose to do something about it and maximize his chances of being able to play football. I mean, if you knew there was virtually no chance of you ever getting promoted at your job as long as this one other guy was there, and there were tons of other companies who could offer you advancement opportunities, are you a poor sport to go work for another company? If Tristan has potential to play at the next level, he should go where he can maximize that potential and his chances. If he doesn't, and all he has is four years for the rest of his life to have fun playing the sport he loves, then he should go where he gets the best chance to play as much of the sport he loves as possible.2 points

My guess is that the monthly payments were discounted back by a cost of capital to the time of the lump sum was paid out, so that financially the Net Present Value of the lump sum payment equaled the value of the monthly payments going forward. That would also answer Moraine's question about Pelini losing out on the lump sum payment by taking the monthly payments.2 points

We have a handful of players on offense that are considered NFL level talent. Can that be said for anyone on the defense at this point? There’s your answer. Need more time to recruit/develop. Right now our defense’s best chance at getting stops is via turnovers or big plays so hence the emphasis on that.2 points

It gets reinforced when people start being rude and condescending only because they realize that someone is liberal or conservative. Which goes to everyone in here. Vegas' first three posts revealed their conservative perspective but weren't rude, didn't engage in any ad hominems or logical fallacies, and were pretty cordial and opened up opportunities for conversation. Instead, as soon as people noticed the conservative slant, they started trying to twist the posts into the worst possible interpretation. Immediately. Vegas, the "Obama keeps abusing his power with executive orders" narrative is a myth that the rise of Fox News and insulated conservative media concocted. Same as the "Obama goes on too many vacations" thing and many others. The data has shown quite clearly that he, if anything, averaged far less useage of EO's than most presidents, including Republican ones. As far as the threat to democracy under Trump, yes it is true that our system is built with checks and balances. But our system is also built to be very slow and patient and methodical in dealing with things that need to be changed/fixed. In the meantime, Trump is appointing what amounts to little less than cronies and yes men into key positions of power that are supposed to hold him in check, while half of Congress is just going along with almost any single thing he does solely because he's on their team, and too often at the expense of what's right and/or decent and/or sensible.2 points

It's interesting that you see liberal vs conservative as a fight and needing allies. Why is sticking tightly to an ideology so important? Can we not just discuss the issues regardless of ideology? I don't care if an issue, idea, etc. is liberal or conservative or whatever - judge it on it's merits.2 points

Confirmed won't sign till Feb. Planning to OV Iowa, NCST, WVU, AppSt. Hearing from SouthCar and Tenn but no offers. Local crime rate is something he is factoring into decision. Doesn't care much for recruiting hoopla. I still really want him.2 points

No doubt about the bolded part. Three HC's and as many coordinators, position coaches etc....A testament to the seniors who have persevered and continued to put in work every day. They have led from the front and have helped get something started here. Kudos to the staff for flipping the culture, getting the buy in and for the first time in years have the NU train going in the same direction. Future looks bright.2 points

And if you continue to scroll down on the wikipedia link you sent me you should notice that (D) Jimmy Carter averaged 80 EOs a year while (R) Trump averages 45. So tell me again how our democracy is in danger of surviving Trump. Which for the record, America isn't actually a Democracy but rather a Constitutional Republic for everyone that that keeps calling it that.2 points

Chin's defense doesn't currently work because we get no pressure on the QB. This is a critical missing piece. Pressured QB's lead to INT's or stripping the ball from the QB. We are trying to strip the ball...but unfortunately it's after a 10 yard gain. I see a lot of holes on defense that we have to fill in recruiting. The defense with its emphasis on playmaking actually sounds fun to play in so hopefully it draws some big time defensive recruits. Pola-Gates and T. Robinson would really get the momentum going for the Blackshirts.2 points

Upset Special: Michigan State at Nebraska (+2.5), Noon ET, FOX Throw out the records (or at least Nebraska’s 3-7 mark). The Huskers are arguably a better team than the 6-4 Spartans as of today. Michigan State’s offense and special teams are a mess. Its undeniably stout defense will prevent Adrian Martinez and the Huskers from racking up their usual (as of late) 500-plus yards. But the Spartans can’t be counted on to score more than two TDs. Nebraska 24, Michigan State 19 https://theathletic.com/655018/2018/11/15/stewart-mandels-week-12-college-football-picks/2 points
