  2. Tidbits from 247 article: - 247 sources say it is too close to call right now between ASU and Nebraska. Bama doesn’t look to be an option because of numbers. - Distance was never a factor until recently, and even that looks to be speculation. - Nebraska has the family edge, especially because the only school where he and Matthew can play together is Nebraska. He also has another cousin here playing softball. - He has hosted ASU and Bama this week. Nebraska has not been in yet and it’s unknown when they will be. But we’re seeing Ty Robinson in the coming days, so it could be around the same time. The end.

  3. I am big advocate for conference champs. If you can't win your conference, you don't deserve to be there. This is would make it like having regional champs.

  4. Don't forget that he didn't win his division or his conference in 2 of those years either

  5. Please mods/admins, get rid of the eyeroll reaction. Nobody seems to know how to not obsess over them. Cue eyeroll reactions.

  6. He also is not here today as previously anticipated. Rumor his visit here was pushed to this weekend but hasn’t been confirmed.

  8. Oh, neat. We have an eyeroller who doesn’t seem to mind that the reason Trump isn’t concerned about impeachment is because his followers will revolt. Do I need to translate what that means? It means he isn’t concerned because his followers will fight for him, literally. And if he’s not concerned it means he expects them to win that fight. And if eyeroller isn’t aware, a revolt will mean deaths. If Trump is impeached and convicted and he’s not concerned, that means he’s okay with winning due to revolt. If a revolt saves him, that’s a coup. It is not at all crazy to think Trump will try this, which is what I was saying. He’s already said above that he’s fine with a revolt. I’m literally just going off of his words. It might sound crazy because this is America and of course it could never happen, but it’s also never happened that we have a president who has said anything like this.

  9. I love how all of you seem to think you can just grade people now! Look...it took years of not really attending class, copying off others, finding the easiest classes I could, giving up my dream of being a PE "teacher" because some of the classes sucked, failing the Praxis test numerous times and then creating a resume where the only thing on it that was truthful was my name and phone number, to earn the right...no no...the privilege to give out grades. Yeah...but I guess I would give Frost a B-...unless he parents called/emailed complaining...then I would jack the grad up a bit to get them off my back.

  10. Is Martinez going to be the first starting NFL QB from Nebraska since Farragamo?

  11. So you spend several posts chiding me for not considering wins and losses in my grade and then say that you'd give the same grade for a two-win discrepancy?

  12. I think part of this issue is people are arguing two different things - without really realizing it. People who are saying the East is clearly better are basically pointing to the overall better teams being in the East. Which is true. But all that says is that the East is harder to win, which isn't necessarily the same thing as saying it is the overall better division. The East also has three pretty bad teams which gets overlooked by the East apologists but definitely affects the balance of power between the divisions. The issue is the East is nothing close to a bell curve. They have four good teams and three really bad teams - Sagarin has the East teams rated 4,5,10,30,57,65,121. The West is a pretty natural bell curve with teams rated 11,33,36,37,49,56,110. So the top four teams in the East are rated higher than all but one team in the West. But there are also three teams in the East that are rated lower than all but one team in the West. Put another way, six of the West teams are between the East #3 and the East #5. When you actually play that out on the field, the result is that the divisions win a very similar amount of games against each other. Obviously the match-ups are not balanced so it's not a perfect measure but it gives a decent idea.

  13. I think the top G5 school should have to be within the top 12 or so to make the playoff. If the highest ranked G5 is a 9-3 Boise State ranked 21st, then 3 at large teams from P5.

  14. As has been the case with every QB since the forward pass was invented.

  15. I also think that more teams are competitive now and 1 loss now is probably equal to 0 back when you could just stack rosters

  17. I hope that the case that is laid before the American people by Mueller or the SDNYAG (most likely for campaign finance law violations) will be so iron clad, closed book evident that his supporters slither off the Trump ship like rats off of a sinking ship. That his 'revolting army' of supporters will become deserters.

  20. From what I’ve heard we will be home Thursday or Friday. It will be a raid of coaches there. Also will visit his cousin. May be a 2/1 deal so frost can go in home with both at his cousins house.

  22. I think someone kinda said this already the other day, but at some point the Republicans need to stop defending Trump before it's too late, either politically for them or because of something worse (e.g. the fate of the country). I have no idea which way this is going to go so I don't know for which reason. Anyhow, I was just reading that we don't know yet what help Flynn gave, which leads me to believe there is a lot more yet to be revealed unless his help was only related to Manafort, which seems unlikely. That just isn't enough to recommend no jail time, imo. I hope they make a movie about this 10 years from now that has more of the details and timeline.

  23. I'm so confused, why does trump need a single dollar to pay for the wall? I thought mexico was going to pay for it. This doesn't make any sense.

  24. Visit is in the works of being set up. He apparently had some academic issues but he has made up a bunch of ground and should be good to go. Clouse mentioned many have noted his film was not that impressive but he apparently was coming off an injury and had to miss 6 games due to transfer rules. HOL guys think we are trending in the right direction with him and Noa.

  25. Your forward thinking is much appreciated !!!! MR last class is missing the 1,2,3,4,6,8,13,16 and 19th best recruits. SF is missing the 8, 10, 19 and 24th best recruits. Looks like it may be awhile.....

  28. I don't disagree, but if we're splitting up the credit of course the o-line as a whole will have more than any single offensive position. A great QB is going to be more valuable than any single o-line position, bar none. Probably more value than any 2-3 lineman combined. But once we're talking about 5 players on the o-line, I would hope they have more value combined than any single skill position player. I don't care how good a player is or what position he plays, if one of your players on offense is more valuable than any other 5 starters, you're not a great team.

  29. The last 2 classes we have done a good job of securing highly rated safeties. But I do agree we havnt seen any highly rated true CB interest. Not upset or anything- just worth pointing out.

  30. did ann coulter really make this post? but to answer her.... of course donnie thinks they are dumb. remember...he loves the uneducated. they cheered when he said mexico would pay for his wall. they believed him when he said he would "drain the swamp". they still believe him when he said he had no contact with russia. and they believe him when he says the wall is already under construction. they believed him when he said he would balance the budget. and they believe all the other thousands of lies he spouts.

  32. Roster turnover is incredibly common when you look at a recruiting class in totality. The best teams typically retain perhaps 60-70% of a recruiting class. So, if you sign a class of 25 kids and approximately 15 of them are still on the team after a few years, you're going to feel pretty good about yourself. If it's true that he's lost four players from his first class, it's likely he'll lose approximately half of a dozen others before that class' time here is up.

  33. I know we want all the recruits to work out and love Nebraska and do well, but it's not going to happen for all of them, and if they're on scholarship and not going to be able to contribute, I'd prefer if they leave and make room for a different player. This guy didn't play last year and seems to have been so far down the depth chart they didn't want him to stay at WR/TE, so I probably wouldn't use the phrase "this really sucks."

  35. Why on earth would they be upset at this? Once I saw who they were hiring I thought it was a great hire. Edit: I wandered on over to their forum and they thought they might get Brent Venables . He was a GA at KSU and coached LB for 3 years. Or Jim Leavitt who is Oregon's OC and coached at KSU for 6 years. I suppose it's a little like Nebraska fans talking about getting Kevin Steele every time we need a DC because he coached here 6 years, but that's for DC, not head coach. Example posts: "Champion of the little league division. Dude has no recruiting ties to Texas. Total disaster hire. It will be proven out. You thought Prince was bad. Jesus." "The whole process was a clown show and ended with a comically bad hire for a ridiculous amount of money and your guy is not even being on full time immediately. If you truly believe this is a good hire, you are 100% part of the problem. KState is a better program than hiring an FCS coach with essentially 0 FBS experience and no recruiting ties. If you think KState is not above that, then I can’t begin to understand you." "We just hired a guy with almost no P5 experience, who doesn’t recruit our main recruiting grounds, and has never recruited P5 level talent. He might be a great coach but if he can’t recruit it won’t matter." What recruiting are they talking about? They were 72nd, 61st, and 65th the last 3 years. I looked at a few other years and they are consistently ranked in the 70s. That's worse than some G5 teams. Just having a new young(er) coach should help keep their recruiting around the same level as Snyder had.

  36. Ohio State got WAXED the past two seasons by a West team and that's why they have been left out - Iowa and Purdue. We own Michigan State. I still think the East is better but it's overblown.
    1 point
  37. The east has had it's struggles, let's not forget that. Michigan wasn't all that with Rich Rod and Hoke. Ohio State sucked with Luke Ficknell (sp?), and PSU was under investigation or under sanctions. Throw in a few big time names that are media darlings (good or bad)....(Urban Meyer, Harbough) and a surprising resurgence under PSU (post O'Brien) and what a difference things make for that division and the B1G. Not saying things became automatic under them, but they sure did get plenty of top recruits, favortism and hype going into every season. Wisconsin and (gulp) Iowa have held their own. We just need Nebraska to become better than those 2 teams and let's see what happens. We just need to do our part now. We gotta get our a$$ in shape and the conference won't appear so lopsided in thought.
