  1. No, their players can't beat Wisconsin either, so, no thanks.

  2. The article at the bottom is what the other person is referring to I think for "stuff surfacing". The facts are it wasn't just not paying a speeding ticket, it was also failing to appear in court after. He also has an arrest it appears a year ago for also failing to appear for a different offense. This is on top of being kicked off the team at Georgia Tech. I would call that a pattern of behavior forming. I agree it isn't a serious offense like assault, but it is a bit concerning none the less. https://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/football/husker-commit-mills-receives-probation-in-georgia-for-missing-court/article_d887e419-a680-54af-bbd4-6a40ad3d4eff.amp.html

  5. I would take another Randy Gregory again in a heartbeat. All Randy did was like to smoke pot. He wasn’t a danger to others and by all accounts well liked by his teammates.

  7. People are blowing his arrest warrant way out of proportion. He didn’t pay a speeding ticket. It’s not a big deal. It’s not like he hit a woman or was drunk driving.

  10. at the end of the day, your W/L record is what it is.........spin is for those who can't accept reality. it's OK........really. Frost hoping that a whole bunch of true freshman will make an immediate impact...... I would say 2020 will be the start of more consistent results. 4-8 IS 4-8.

  11. If anyone watched the CFP and came away thinking that Frost and Nebraska will get there and look competitive with any form of regularity recruiting classes in the mid-20', step away from the bong.

  12. Partially correct and I have posted on this before. I am in agreement that this is a must have in our future to compete for national titles AND league titles. This year Clemson is at #4 nationally in total defense while Bama is #10. I have a feeling Bama loses this one but the Clemson QB while good, is young. (Syracuse game etc..) Also, Nick Saban has yet to win a MNC with a defese ranked higher than #3 in total defense (this year so far Bama is ranked #10 in total d). Here is the list going of teams that won the MNC since 1998 and their final total defense ranking: (stats from ncaa.org) 2017 - Alabama #1 2016 - Clemson #4 2015 - Alabama #3 2014 - Ohio State #19 2013 - Florida State #3 2012 - Alabama #1 2011 - Alabama #1 2010 - Auburn #60 2009 - Alabama #2 2008 - Florida #9 2007 - LSU #3 2006 - Florida #6 2005 - Texas #9 2004 - USC #6 2003 - LSU (#1) / USC (#30) 2002 - Ohio State #23 2001 - Miami #6 2000 - Oklahoma #8 1999 - Florida State #19 1998 - Tennessee #17 6 teams in the last 20 years have won MNC's with a non-top 10 defense. Most of those teams were still in the top 25-30 and had killer offenses (i.e. 14 tOSU, Auburn 2010, and 03 USC). Auburn had Cam N. in 2010 who was a complete freak of nature (think Vince Young^2) and made up for their #60 ranking (although they did hold Oregon to 19 pts in the MNCG). For fun here is NU's total defense for all 5 NC's: 1970 Coundnt find 1971 Couldnt find 1994 #5 1995 #13??? yikes (KSU was #1) 1997 #5 The way I see it is this: with Frost we will always have a dynamic offense that plays up-tempo and can put up 30-40 a game easily; heck we are doing it now with only a year of recruiting. That being said I think we need to at the very least field a top 25 defense to contend for the B1G and MNC. Watching OU play Bama last night it was obvious why Saban has so many MNC's: he knows how to field a solid defense year in and year out (his average total defense ranking when he wins a MNC is ~1.74). I think top 25 total d should be an easy/realizable goal for the coaching staff. There could be unique challenges given that the defense will practice with our offense and could leave them vulnerable to power running teams/pro style offenses. For those hating on Michigan's D in their bowl game I have a suspiscion that Harbaugh is part of the problem; his seat is hot af right now. I know Venables is an OU/KSU guy, and we got Chin..but wouldn't it be nice to poach him from Clemson??? Feel free to discuss.

  13. I actually thought they did a pretty tremendous job fleshing out characters and providing character arcs and beats for most of the key players. They gave Thanos an at least passable motivation to serve as a sort of moral dilemma. Kept hitting father/mentor/legacy beats with Tony Stark and his relationship to Peter Parker coinciding with his struggles or burden of leadership and sacrifice. Even the alpha male competition dichotomy (and later trichotomy) with Stark/Strange/Star Lord was entertaining, mostly because the interactions and the plot progression were centered in each character. There were decent juxtapositions of the large stakes of Thanos wiping out half the universe with the smaller stakes of things like Scarlet Witch trying to save the mandroid she loves. I could go on and on, but at the end of the day, this is much more like jumping into Season 3 Episode 16 of a non-serialized TV series more than it is jumping into a movie. Its biggest strength is also it's biggest weakness, which is that the movie doesn't need to spend time on certain foundational work because 18 films before it already have. I thought the Russo brothers did a mostly great job, though.

  17. What the heck has happened to American football ? As a pure game it has been totally wrecked by competition committees, bad rules, too much review, commercials. I am sorry but when the term "catch" is superceded by the term " completion" then we have lost our way. A catch is a catch. Will we just live in ridiculousness with this issue or will they simply get back to letting the officials decide when they see a catch or not? Frankly if you just hold the officials accountable, and let them make the call the plays will be called correctly more often than they are now with replay, and the game would go quicker with a restored flow. Right now it sucks. You sit through four minutes of watching some expert try to explain what a "football related move" is and then they get the call wrong. TERRIBLE. And today, we had the poor Browns with 1:40 trying to march down the field. They make 2 close catch plays so we have to sit through two consecutive reviews. This killed the excitement in what should have been the most exciting part of the game, not to mention that it gave the Baltimore D several minutes of rest. No good deed goes unpunished. I mean is it about the game or is it about the review? Don't people tune in to watch game play, not replay? What if they stopped boxing after every tie up for a review to make sure no punches hit the back of the head? Wouldnt that wreck the fight? That is how I feel about football now. Too much needless interruption. 60 minute clock, 4 hour event. It seems to me that they have thrown the baby out with the bath water. They tried to make the game perfect with replay and rule changes. But having watched football for 37 years, I can say honestly the game has never been worse. It was so refreshing to watch a couple preseason games last year without the replays and not so many commercials. THAT was nice! I find myself drifting more toward baseball ( has not been wrecked by rules committees, and untimely replays or commercials) movie channels that have no commercials ( not the unGodly 8-10 minute commercial breaks on some of the other cable channels) and towards smaller more pure sports that haven't been wrecked, soccer, track, swimming, rugby etc. College football used to be an integral part of me. But it feels like that has been ripped away.

  18. I probably shouldn't chime in with this but based on this information and the one game I saw him play in, I'm not going to be too broke up if it doesn't work out. Not impressed, on the field or off of it

  19. I think a lot of this is probably due to former teammate Alex Barnes who is the RB for KSU who just declared for the draft. I think you would be right if Snyder was still there but with the change in the regime I think that gives us a good chance

  24. I think we should definitely take Mills. However, with all this stuff surfacing up right before he signs, it does concern me. Because of this, we should probably take both Mills and Bivens. If Mills does something that would get him kicked off the team, breaking team rules, or doing something dumb, we will have Bivens on the team to take charge while he sits or doesn't play. I think Frost and co and clean him up a bit, but you just never know with players like this one. That is why if Frost wants to be committed to players such as Mills, and tell him the next guy up takes your spot if you want to mess around or not follow the rules.

  27. For reference, I think this is what @Moiraine was talking about. Thoroughly shameful to take government employees raises away by fiat... but of course we were in good enough fiscal shape to bear a budget-busting massive tax cut for upper income folks and corporations, and the government is currently shut down because the president has dug in on his useless pet project. Their justification about fiscal sustainability is laughable. Everything this man does is out of cruelty, pettiness or rank dishonesty.

  30. Yes, he needs to grow up and be more responsible. Since he’s a Juco RB, I’m sure Ryan Held has been recruiting him. Held knows well what JUCO kids are like, and probably has a good relationship with Mills. If Mills still wants to be at NU, the coaches still probably want him.

  31. Kentucky vs Louisville is another that comes to mind, but that still means three cupcake games and that's only a few of the 16 SEC teams. What many forget is a 9th conference game guarantees the conference will have more losses. Half the teams will win that 9th game, half will lose. That guarantees 7 extra losses for the B1G every year. The SEC only playing 8 conference games means they can avoid the guaranteed 7 extra losses they'd have with a 9th conference game. Which record looks better? 8-4* or 7-5 Which is going to be ranked higher? Who are you going to get more credit for beating, the 8 win team or the 7 win team? Until they play 9 conference games, put an asterisk behind their record. *(only played 8 conference games)

  34. Here is a More likely Trend: Saban: 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017 Meyer: 2006, 2008,2014 Saban: 2003 9 of the last 15 have been won by 2 coaches (at 4 different schools) The other 6 have been by 6 different coaches at different schools that happen to be in warm weather. At the same time Arizona, ASU, UCLA, Miami, Texas A&M, and 100 other warm weather schools haven't won a NC title. I think it mostly comes down to coaching, and it is hard to argue that Saban and Meyer aren't two of the greatest college coaches of our time.
