  1. No what's crazy is you freaking out because the staff is missing out on 1 OLB, when we have 2 signed and 3 younger on the roster, and are actively recruiting Parker, Lockhart, Fonua, and Evans. You are right though we should ask WTF ARE WE DOING instead of being logical.

  6. Here is my opinion on this: 1. Your thread titles need to be more descriptive so people can tell what your subject matter is. 2. This post can easily go into one of the many recruiting threads that already exist on this board, since it is a recruiting topic. Last week you created multiple threads about the NFL playoffs that could have gone in the existing NFL playoff instead of creating an entirely new thread based on a couple of fleeting thoughts. Basic etiquette. 3. Offering a seventh grader a scholarship is a publicity gimmick as much as anything else and is not binding. Why does it make a difference if you are a woman?

  8. I thought any of our guys could potentially take a big step forward just by getting away from The Mike Riley Experience, but I thought Wilbon was the most likely to improve. Obviously that's not quite how it happened. As for whether Ozigbo was really as good early on as he was last year, here's some YPC stats: 2015: Team 4.7, Ozigbo 5.5 2016: Team 4.2, Ozigbo 4.2 2017: Team 3.5, Ozigbo 3.8 2018: Team 5.4, Ozigbo 7.0 So no, Ozigbo was never anywhere near a 7.0 YPC kind of back prior to 2018, and his 3.2 YPC improvement from 2017 to 2018 was much bigger than the 1.9 YPC improvement of the team as a whole. Ozigbo was probably the biggest beneficiary of a new coaching staff since Suh.

  10. From where ever rivals had him to 139. Finally a 4 star. I'd imagine of all of our players, his composite would see the largest jump. Wandale and Ty's went up almost none from their jumps.

  11. All that is true. But he was consistently out-performed by other backs on the same team in the same system getting the same coaching. So either all those other backs were also significantly better than they looked and deserve to be playing in the NFL or Ozigbo made significant improvements over the past year. Frost didn't see it when he was watching film. I realize you want to give yourself a lot of credit but the vast majority of everyone else says he was a completely different back than what he was before.

  13. Idk mate... Was there last year and in many ways it's better than this country. Many ways it's also not. Many ways it's the same. The influx of culture I saw was mostly good. People of different ethnicities all over, excellent ethnic food, everyone generally getting along. Do cops like to police all areas of South side Chicago? How about the burned down neighborhoods in Detroit?

  14. We saw flashes for 3 years. People can give all the credit world to 6 months of fitness, but it’s more than that. It be ignorant to say S&C didn’t benefit Ozigbo, but contributing the majority of his success to a few months of training is disingenuous. He played in offense with two QBs that allowed Defenses to stack the box. The offense get a legitimate threat at QB and the pressure is relieved. And some much improved coaching. The O Line went from horrid to acceptable. Ozigbo goes from donkey (not my words) to third team all conference 1000 yard rusher. It was always there and some of us saw that. The leadership and QB changes definitely helped. You don’t suck because the organization you work for does. Sometimes youre a product of a broken system.

  15. And another girl (Bekka Allick) committed to Cook & the Huskers last year after completing her 8th grade year last summer. Bekka is also a pretty decent basketball player.

  16. One big thing is that a football player (or even a women's volleyball, basketball, etc.) can't SIGN for a scholarship offer as a 7th grader. The 7th grader can commit to a college, but it is non-binding, just as the scholarship offer is non-binding. If you follow women's sports at all, high school girls in volleyball get a lot of pressure to commit to a school early in their high school career (9th/10th grade). Now, girls do mature faster than boys, so they reach their peak height earlier, but scholarship offers to young students is common. I want to say that the Rolfzen twins committed to NU as 8th graders (at least by 9th grade).

  17. There is a quote of Reagan's that I don't agree with ( I know your reaction is ) Reagan said something to the affect that "Govt isn't the solution but the problem." I think at the core he meant - inefficient govt is the problem. But words matter and just saying govt is the problem sets the wrong narrative for conservatives for too long. We need govt, we need social programs, we need defense spending, etc and etc - but we need efficient govt so that we can actually bring more (not less) services to the people.

  21. It's equally likely that the school gets them scheduled for the last weekend because they are waiting to see how they do on other prospects and the visit may be cancelled - thus saving an OV for a different prospect - if they don't have room for that particular kid.

  28. The government we have reflects the people we are. As we get lazier and less vigilant, our government becomes more corrupt and wasteful. Government is never the initial problem. It's just (usually) a more visible symptom.

  30. Misleading? How so? I have a friend that lives in the UK, and she says the heavy flow of immigration is crippling just about every government related program the UK has. And then there is the influx of Sharia Law safe zones, especially in England. Something like 80% of the Muslims in the country live off the government.... That country is going to hell quicker than this one.

  31. I pretty much agree with this. Not to mention how can you even legitimately evaluate 7th grade talent. There's way too many variables at that young of an age, IMO.

  38. I mean ... obviously a lot of people were wrong about Ozigbo. Or - more precisely - were not expecting him to make such a dramatic improvement. Even Frost has said that he was nothing like what they saw on film from last year. That being said, I'm not sure you were all that accurate in your descriptions of Ozigbo either. He seemed to significantly out-perform your descriptions as well. You referenced him as a "grinder" who "won't start". Neither of those turned out to be accurate. And your comparison to Burkhead is still not accurate. Just because they (may) both play in the NFL doesn't mean they are the same type of back. Plus you also were doubtful that he could break it for 60, which is a huge difference that he could do that this year where he couldn't last year. So congrats for being optimistic and being proved right. But I'm not really all that convinced that you really saw him being the back he became either.

  40. 3 Republican state legislators from West Virginia introduced a bill to take $10M from the state surplus and offer it to fund the wall. The state tax payer funded surplus. The state that is fighting the worst opioid crisis in this country has 3 republicans that think a wall is a more important use of their constituents money than helping fight drug abuse.

  44. I listened to a FiveThirtyEight podcast today that speculated that the cease of certain types of food inspection could ultimately end the shutdown if there is a foodborne illness outbreak that could directly be traced back to the shutdown. But that theory relies on the GOP pulling their heads out and realizing the government does important stuff and should actually be, you know, running and stuff...
