  1. How about you dispense with the notion that a coach trying to recruit players of high character and achieving that 100% of the time is realistic. You're acting like Frost knew about this before bringing MW on board. He didn't. You seem to think an allegation is enough to prove something about MoWa and Frost. It isn't. You seem to feel an allegation is all that should be required for kicking a player off the team. Thankfully you're wrong and not in charge of anything other than your constant pissing and moaning on your keyboard and staying in the saddle of that high horse.

  2. We get it. You don't like Scott Frost and would rather still have Mike Riley. You have had this defensive stance since the firing/hiring.

  3. We don't know if it's sexual assault. That's a really good reason not to use that term at this point. I don't think we need to jump to the conclusion that she wants to bring Washington down, either. An equally plausible scenario is that she made a mistake by having that threesome, that mistake was compounded by it being recorded, and she doesn't want that recording disseminated. That seems like a real possibility, and something people could/should respect. That she's now, years later, contemplating filing sexual assault charges tinges the conversation and maybe makes the whole thing very different. This situation has a lot of layers. That's why I'm reserving judgment until more facts are in. OK. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I mean... is this what you've been on about this whole thread? Because if so, that's a really weird hill to die on.

  4. People are starving in China, and we’re worried about football!? a) Washington didn’t sexually assault her. b) Washington didn’t film her being sexually assaulted. c) It seems fairly obvious that Washington didn’t know the video was of a sexual assault, as the police investigated said assault and didn’t seem to have leaped to that conclusion. Is Washington supposed to understand it was rape better than the police? She never made that accusation until recently and hasn’t pressed charges. The girl says she was sexually assaulted, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with discussing what Washington is guilty of and how it affects his status on the team. At any given time we are all guilty of being more concerned about football than important issues. Since you brought it up, I don’t have a sister but I have a niece and future stepdaughters and a vagina.

  6. I bet Frost's first question before offering Washington was "Any sexual scandals that could get you into trouble? I need real pieces of work to reinstall the 90's glory. 3way vid? You in it? No. But you sent it to her? Perfect, you'll be a great RB for us!"

  7. is it also possible that she willingly engaged in the sexual act and only decided she didnt approve of it once the whole school had the video?

  8. On the very first page, StPaul proclaimed that Washington is a "low character guy" and should be kicked off the team. He also proclaimed that Frost obviously doesn't care about high character guys on the team. Now, this was on the very first page when we actually knew less than what we do now...for which still isn't very much. StPaul then tried to act like some of his comments were in jest....meanwhile, he has kept up the same mantra throughout over 10 pages now of this thread. He has proclaimed him guilty and that is evidence alone of the entirety of the man's character. The vast majority of the people (including me) in this thread simply want the facts to come out before we rush to judgement....then, an appropriate punishment should be put in place. That obviously isn't good enough for him because he continues to argue that their opinion isn't harsh enough. I see no difference between this and other more famous incidents where rush to judgement is done way before all facts are known.

  9. But, yet.....you are going to judge the character of Washington based on one single thing he did. I don't see very many people on here willing to say he shouldn't face the consequences of his actions....once the facts are actually known in the case. You, on the other hand, believe he should be condemned as a horrible person and his life damaged based on this singular incident....without knowing the facts. Kind of like someone taking ads out in news papers proclaiming some teenagers should get the death penalty for murder only to find out.....ooops....they didn't do it.

  11. I don't believe that statement in regards to your posts on this board defending Mike Riley and seeming to bring down Frost. You do realize that Mike Riley had 4 players from OSU physically rape a woman, and he gave them a 1 game suspension right? For "making a bad choice"

  12. So basically people are stupid for not realizing that one arbitrarily-drawn line must not be crossed and they must accept that the program will have to dabble past that line in order to find significant success but only up to the point where we come up against some other arbitrarily-drawn line and that line should be considered an absolute that can't be crossed for any reason. Got it.

  13. I've got a son and daughter as well, still in grade school, and this sort of stuff terrifies me. I've also done child protective work and currently work on a college campus investigating harassment and discrimination. The ugly things that people do make me queasy every day, and I think about that every time I tuck in my kids at night. I think of these sort of situations in two different categories: 1) What can we learn from this, and is this something that I can use to either protect my family or teach my family? Whatever Washington did or is accused of doing (or whatever any of the people in this situation did) is bad, and is something to be learned from. That is the moral standpoint. 2) We can't make decisions in this sort of case using our emotions. The criminal system and disciplinary system needs to be neutral, and decisions need to be made based on the evidence without bias. The "circle the wagons" mentality you talk about in this thread seems to be more of the folks wanting to wait until more info comes out, and then there are also a lot of folks rushing to judgment based on their emotions. It's okay to be disgusted by the situation for many reasons, but also to stand back and wait for more evidence before casting judgment.

  14. The same people who piled on opposing players who got caught tended to plead for much more understanding and less public scrutiny when the player was from Nebraska. Especially if that player was a starter. You know we'd be having a different conversation if Maurice Washington was a player who spurned Nebraska and signed with Iowa.

  23. My opinion: [remember, just an opinion. Don't know her, Mo or the gentlemen in said video nor did I see said video] She was interested in and or was with one of the guys in said video. He coaxed her into 3way. Once it was happening, filming happened and she didn't say no to it because let's face it we are all different people in the moment. Video gets around, she THEN regrets it. Naturally, gets in trouble for it. To cope with the disappointment from her parents and save face, decides she will say it was forced sexual assault. As far as Washington goes. Regardless of his relationship with her, he acquired the video. Stupidly after saving it, he sent it to her as an FU of sorts. Now he's a college athlete and an easy target and will pay the price. From the sounds of it, nobody is innocent here. But laws are laws and most teenagers ignore them and or don't know/understand them or the repercussions of them. Personally, I'm hoping we can all have more details and more truth come out before throwing him or her under the bus any further.

  26. Speaking of false equivalencies, are we really saying there's not much difference between sending dick and boob picks, and sending a video of a sexual assault two years after the fact with a "remember this, Hoe?" to the victim?

  27. I don't think anyone would like to see their daughter or sister experience what is alleged to have happened with this girl. I think the people who are rushing to judgement may be having a hard time imagining their son or brother being in MoWa's position though. I have a 24 yr old son and a 19 yr old daughter. Unfortunately in today's world these things are a very real issue. As in all things we do the best we can to enlighten them and give them as many tools as possible to deal with it and hope they make the right decisions. But they are still in the real world where this type of thing is commonplace and peer pressure and fitting in are likely more pertinent issues to them. It shocks and saddens me to know what some of these kids do on a daily basis, knowing they have failed to weigh the long term consequences and repercussions. Personally, I am not considering his status as a football player. That isn't influencing my thoughts at all. Honestly I am imagining this happening to HS friends of my daughter or my son or daughter. I feel very bad if in fact the girl was subjected to sexual assault (which we do not know for sure) and I feel bad for her if this came back to her in a revenge porn way. But until a lot more facts come out and it is proven otherwise, I also sympathize with MW and really feel it is wrong to throw about the phrase "child pornography" in relation to this situation. Kids don't magically transform just because they've attained 18 or 19 years of age. It's a travesty all around but I do wish people would hold their judgement, at least until the first facts are in and then maybe further until they actually know the motives and the people involved.

  29. I have been having the same response when someone calls this child porn....a 60 yr old man can watch dirty videos of 18 yr olds all day every day and never have a legal issue but an 18 yr old senior in HS cant have a 15 or 16 yr old picture or video of his gf/ex or whatever. One seems way more disgusting to me.

  30. There is something inherently wrong with considering one 16 year old in possession of another 16 year old's (their girlfriend or boyfriend) picture/video as being guilty of child pornography. We give these kids smart phones, oftentimes before they are even teenagers, and then some act shocked and disgusted and outraged when immature people do immature things with that technology. Yet some of these same people simply call laws against marijuana stupid and ill advised. Tar and feather one while ignoring/laughing about the other. I think I'll need a much taller horse to see the world the way some of you do.

  31. I'm so happy none of you ever saw a nude teenager when you were a teen. Many of you lived very boring teenage years

  32. I find it interesting that many comments/commenters are referring to the normalcy of teens videoing and the typical behavior including sharing pics, videos etc. Normal doesn't make it right. It's normal to sometimes have too many beers and then drive. Still shouldn't do it - it puts you and others at risk and there are ramifications when you are caught. There are many things considered typical but that doesn't make them right, nor does it mean that it shouldn't be punished. If this wasn't our top RB and was a kid at your kid's school, if he had sent a video to your son what would you expect your son to do? If the video was of your daughter what would you think was appropriate? If you were a teacher and this involved your students how would you handle it and what would you feel is right?

  33. Case in point. Heh. I was 18 in the internet age. You know what the easiest thing in the world was? Not being in possession of child pornography.

  34. Minors film and take photos of and send each other sexually explicit content of themselves or their peers ALL the time. How would you assess their behavior? Monstrous? Immoral? 16 year old kids acting like 16 year old kids and being interested in other 16 year old kids? In one realistic scenario MoWa being just over 18 doesn't magically remove him from the childish and immature and normal situation and context of heartbreak and hurt and living in a 2018 teenage digital media reality from two years prior that's still fresh and impactful. If we want to stick to legal definitions over half of teenagers are in possession of child porn. Which is illegal and could be prosecuted. Some states even have laws against simply viewing child porn, even if you're a minor. Should 15 year old girls be criminally prosecuted for sending their boyfriends nudes or viewing dick picks some idiot at their school sent them? https://criminal.findlaw.com/criminal-charges/child-pornography-and-selfies--what-you-need-to-know.html

  35. Huh, I guess all I'm seeing is you claiming this is some kind of proof that Frost isn't doing it the right way and isn't striving for high character guys. I've seen no evidence to support that take at all. All it took for you is one allegation with zero facts or any real knowledge of what actually transpired.

  38. Here's an example from my world, just last week. A freshman at my son's high school, a kid we've known since they played Little League together, pulls his dick out in class and absent-mindedly plays with it under the desk. Another kid sees him doing it and films it on his phone. The clip gets sent around the school and everyone knows about it. Presumably to embarrass the kid, who -- let's face it - made the 100% avoidable choice of pulling his dick out of his pants in class. Having spent the morning reading this thread, I informed my son just now that he and his friends have been distributing child porn. Huh, he said.

  39. Am I remembering this wrong or aren't you the "If Frost really wants to get us back to the top he's going to have to compromise some of his morals" or something like that?

  40. I think this is the problem Landlord. You're saying it's normal so nothing should be done about it. Rather than saying it's normal and that's messed up. This stuff does harm to people and there's evidence that the culture we're living in increases the likelihood of more severe downstream behaviors. So while it is normal, I'd also say we need to take it seriously and provide consequences to make it understood it's not acceptable. It's not that sexuality in and of its self is bad. However, when you talk to those girls getting dick pics, how many of them do you think the women want to see? How many do you think were solicited? We're using sex both as a weapon (such as what is being suggested MW did) and we're using it in inappropriate and non-consensual ways and that isn't "morally and ethically wrong and in poor taste" it's causing psychological harm to the victims and sometimes harm in the career/life domains and should be taken seriously, not dismissed as this is just the world we live in. We all need to take a hard look at ourselves if we're going to defend the alleged actions. I'm not going to rush to judgment until all the info comes out, but if he sent that video he should be held accountable and there should be consequences. Do I think it should ruin his career? Probably not, but maybe he should get some help with emotion regulation and get suspended long enough to make time for him to change some of what's going to get in the way of his life down the road.
