  1. In fact, the athletic department as a whole is so incredibly self-sufficient (donors, endowments, etc) that they pay for all of their expenses in a year, then spend a ridiculous amount on facilities upgrades, cool perks, etc for all the teams, and then still usually have several million dollars left that they donate back to the academic side of the University for them to use to lower expenses/provide scholarships to the general student population. The Athletic Dept lowers (marginally) the contributions from taxpayers to run UNL.

  3. If reporters, talk show hosts , etc were making things up or skewing/exaggerating things I would say the “bashing”was too much . Through his incessant unfiltered tweets, rally’s, appearances on FOX, and poor speeches , Trump gives them a steady stream of dumb/untruthful things to make fun of and criticize. He makes it way too easy on them and I think it’s his own fault .

  4. Thats what Trump gets for being the worst President in our lifetime. Are we supposed to celebrate this guy? He is terrible and in Russias back pocket. Just because people call him like they see him doesn't mean they are liberal. I also like your whole "I'm not a Trump supporter but I get upset when people critisize him too much" schtick Oh and a quick question if I may...did you get very sick when Fox and all of conservative America were bashing and piling on Obama?

  5. “ Better” race relations probably depends on who you ask. Obama tried to shed some light on, and fix, some of the abuse, racism, inequality , etc that many black people deal with in this country . If you ask them I’m sure they would say relations were better . Under the current administration those issues have been abandoned, and denounced, so if you asked Trump supporters , some of whom are still very racist , and some of whom don’t want to hear/acknowledge ugly truths like that , you will likely get a much different opinion of “better” .

  7. Pretty sad this is what it takes to get some transparency in Washington, but kudos to Schiff for actually making sure we're informed as public - you know, his job - instead of using his position to cover the president's behind.

  9. Collusion isnt a crime. The crime is conspiracy and we dont know what evidence they have as most of Manforts and Cohens sentencing reports have been redacted. When Mueller releases his final report, we will know the truth. Cohen will be testifying in front of congress soon. He wants to out Trump. If there is nothing to out, he would never do it. We will see soon.

  11. Alot remains to be seen on the Mueller front. You can call it a witch hunt all you like, people can speculate, but until Mueller wraps things up we won't know either way. What I've found interesting through all of this is Trumps reaction. In my personal opinion he is constantly acting like someone with something to hide.

  12. I always have to smile when liberals become bullies, name callers and shamers when faced with opposing views when they are supposedly open minded, loving and compassionate people that value others opinions hate bullying, hate name calling, hate shaming and appreciate open debate it seems as if those nice things only apply to those they agree with or what they expect from others these expectations rarely apply to those they dislike or disagree with which is really the only time that they actually have to invoke these traits themselves

  13. I wonder what it’s like to live in a reality you’ve conjured for yourself, or worse, one that Fox News opinion shows have conjured for you. Apparently indictments and prison sentences for the Russia investigation are the same thing as the Lewinsky scandal.

  17. RN making 80k after 3 years of service? In Nebraska? Where are they working? As Warren Buffetts personal nurse? Because RNs do not even make close to that in Nebraska in 3 years. Maybe 45k if they are lucky. My sister worked as a charge nurse for Creighton for 6 years before becoming a traveling nurse which pays a lot more but still not 80k a year.

  18. Romney wasn't "crucified" for stating the fact that 47% of Americans don't pay income tax. He was "crucified" because he labeled the 47% as entitled do-nothings that suck off the tit of the wealthy and therefore he has no need to worry about them. He forgot to realize this 47% includes nurses, teachers, policeman, firefighters, US soldiers, city workers, construction workers, welders, mechanics, etc.... The Quote "There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it -- that that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what. ... These are people who pay no income tax. ... [M]y job is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

  19. I think a lot of those screaming Russia Russia Russia are going to go down in history like the clinton haters who had Ken Starr expand his probe to get bill on lying about monica most of America with the exception of the hard right clinton haters, could have cared less just like the clinton haters now look foolish when we look back on this so will the Russia Russia Russia crowd it was wrong then, its wrong now with the exception of the obsessed trump haters and Msbc folks are going to care 10 years from now whats going to be remembered was an expanded probe based on a fake dossier paid for by clinton which paid Russian sources and relied on very scetchy Russians with lots of it proven to be false an fbi that hated trump and was looking for an insurance policy to keep him out It will go down as sour grapes hillary lost because she was a lazy flawed corrupt candidate and a sizable group of Americans got sick of hearing how awful our country is when In reality most of us are caring, loving , fair and hard working folks Russia didn’t swing the election with 100 k In Facebook adds and a few bots theyve always meddled The liberal candidate lost As we’ve all done in past elections we get over it and move on If anything every American should be fearful that the bare knuckle politics and fbi would try an end run to circumvent an election or try and invoke the 25 th amendment in a way it was never intended to be used Like with bill clinton I don’t even like the guy- trump that is but if the shoe was on the other foot this would be playing out much differently as Always

  20. What about the economic turnaround that happened under Obama? That for me is a big reason I see Obama as a good president. Bush left Obama with a mess and Obama cleaned that mess up which goes a long way in my book.

  21. There are a handful of very progressive people that routinely engage in P&R. There are a handful, albeit a smaller handful, of very conservative people that also routinely engage. There are a whole bunch of moderates and centrists in slightly different positions and directions that overall lean center left I'd imagine. Yes, the board leans more left than right. The board also leans more data and evidence and backing up claims than it does ad hominem and fake news. Maybe there's a correlation there. Maybe there isn't. If you don't like the demographics of political representation in this forum, I guess you could whine about it like a bitch. Or you can treat the exchange of ideas like a meritocracy, something the political right loves to believe in, and offer something compelling.

  28. I agree Me too Well said. I am sick of it as well. I know. What a failure of leadership and governance by Trump and his party. Reveals their hypocrisy. This is true, many conservatives are sick of all of that. Many of them, in addition to that though, are also sick of the sudden sobering realization that their party doesn't actually stand for true conservatism at all, but only stands for it's own power. Those conservatives might be holding their noses and voting for a democrat because being in support of Trump's administration and GOP is unconscionable.

  30. Just read that. Reading an old Mizzou article when he got passed over as DC at Mizzou and went to Miami. The writer mentioned no experience in a 3-4 and new DC was going to that. https://archives.sportshax.com/2015/craig-kuligowski-is-the-bill-brasky-of-assistant-coaches/ From the Miami Herald when he left UM... Kuligowski’s resume is impressive – which is why it was such a big “get” for Miami to hire him in the first place. During his tenure at the University of Missouri, Kuligowski coached 24 players to all-conference honors; four NFL first-round draft picks (Ziggy Hood, Aldon Smith, Sheldon Richardson and Shane Ray) and a pair of SEC defensive players of the year in Michael Sam (2013) and Ray (2014).

  31. Amen i get sick of that uninformed nonsense the football department pays for almost all the other sports contributes millions to the general university fund for non athlete students the football program has generated hundreds of millions of dollars for local small businesses, developers etc yep academics are king however the English department won’t see 90,000 of us line up 7 times a year and pay tens of millions to watch them write etc

  32. Honestly it’s a flawed way to think. The Athletic Department and the University have 2 completely different budgets and revenue sources. When people make comments about the Athletic Department spending “our tax money” those people are making incorrect statements, but it’s the way a lot of people in the State of Nebraska think. No matter the success of the football team or the entire Athletic Department, when people complain about uses of “our tax money” they sound like people who like to complain about things without knowing the true facts.

  34. Been saying this for years. And there should have been zero reason to not keep Bolt—we had the money, as Erstad is taking a pittance to keep quality pitching/hitting coaches for a long time. Even still, we’ve seen that we don’t have a quality replacement for Bolt for some time, and that’s on Erstad. Frankly, if Erstad is shown the door at the end of this season (seat has got to be warm at least), I’d expect Bolt to have first right of refusal on the HC job.

  36. Question: The news article you linked has zero reference whatsoever to social justice warriors. Or any offended or outraged parties. So are you imagining some SJW's looking for victims in this case, the same way that you're saying they imagine slights against oppressed people?

  40. Or, and I know this is a crazy thought now, those on this board don't swear any political allegiances. Instead they call a spade a spade and would rather vote good component people in, who do the right thing when called upon. Maybe one particular party isn't able to effectively shoe horn the varied ideas of a population of thinking people.
