  1. I am going to let you all in on a secret. All you have heard is true. Both sides. There are players that hate her and think she is crazy and...wait for it...there are players that love her and owe her everything. Just like with every single coach, teacher, parent, boss, mentor, friend, brother, sister and so on.

  2. I think the best thing about these types of poll releases. Even if they are worthless. Think of how many Iowa fans get triggered over it.

  3. I think it might be Dedrick Mills. Similar hair and hairline and a tattoo on the right arm, also a necklace and an earring. (I'm sure lots of the guys have a tattoo on their arms but it looks like it could be his).

  6. All he said in the rivals article that he wants to visit Nebraska when the dead period is over . According to NCSA sports the dead period will end July 24! So I would imagine 26-28 he would visit!

  7. One fact that really stands out in our discussion of the greatest team to never to have won the MNC - It is a fact that is so easily over looked because us older Husker fans are too familiar or too comfortable with our history. That fact is that Coach Tom was not only a great coach but an 'all time' great coach who will probably not get the credit that his history deserves. We wouldn't even be having this discussion if it weren't for the fact that Tom fielded teams so consistently good that we Husker fans and dare I say all of college football took it for granted. Without a doubt, I think Tom is deserving of 3 more national championships (82, 83, 93 - 82&93 literally stolen by the refs, and 83 by his courageous choice to go for 2). But we could reasonably say that the 78 team (see my previous post ) and the 96 team (hopes destroyed by flu on game day) could have/would have/ should have been been champs if one thing could have been changed. We also could mention the 81 team - a 2 loss Husker team had moved up to # 4 to play undefeated Clemson. # 2 and #3 had already loss. NU fought back in the 4th quarter to only lose by a TD to a highly regarding Clemson team. Again consistency. Tom never finished outside of the polls and has the most wins of any coach in his first 20 years. 14. I completely disagree with this and think it's the wrong approach, at least for anyone who identifies as a Christian. Jesus was not politically neutral. He was radically subversive and opposed to the effects of empire, and the effects of legalism. There is political subterfuge and subtext in almost every lesson he ever taught. The gospels are called the gospels because the Romans would send out 'gospel' pamphlets (good news) to conquered citizens (aka, the gospels are in a way satire). Jesus' virgin birth combats Caesar's unique birth story, because those stories were how those who fancied themselves deities set themselves apart. I could go on and on and on, but the point is true religion and spirituality can not be informed by politics, but if you want to be a part of true Christian expression your politics will land not with any party or defined side, but in support and favor and solidarity with the broken, the oppressed, the downtrodden, the abused and the trampled.

  17. At the end of the season, those undefeated 1971 Huskers had beaten the #2, #3, and #4 ranked teams. Not sure anyone else ever did that. It will always be my favorite team because I was a kid and I got everyone's autograph at the Clock Tower Dairy Queen. You mention "era" and that comes into play, fairly or not. Such different size and speed of athlete, such simpler style of play. I don't think the first two NC teams could hang with '83 and the others. I'm willing to give '95 a solid edge -- that was the perfect storm of Nebraska football.

  18. That makes no sense. We’re still going to keep recruiting other CBs, and Moten wouldn’t have been playing this season.

  20. Training camp is coming up fast which means that football season is getting closer. Who is in again for some fantasy football. We could use the same format as last year. It is always really fun. If you are interested just let us know. We still got about a month to get a good group of guys. Who is ready to take down the champ!

  25. Yeah, Chins apparently stays away from terming his defense a "3-4" - even though that's what it is - because he'll mix things around some. But even in the base defense it's pretty obvious that the two OLBs have distinct usage and responsibilities.

  26. Obviously it depends on whether it was actual abuse. And no that isn’t an example of it. Texting someone every 30 mins from 11pm to 7am might be if the player thinks they’ll get in trouble if they don’t respond. But if that was a one time thing it’s not enough to get fired for. I had a softball coach when I was around 11 or 12 who yelled a lot but I thought it was ok. I had a coach who screamed at his daughter way worse than anyone else and it wasn't okay. Actually, one time he screamed at her for yelling at me. I also saw him screaming at her in her house once, in front of a bunch of her friends. Later on he disowned her for having a kid out of wedlock. Not sure if I have any point to any of that.

  27. Been a bit busy this week and haven't been around here as much, but this just popped up in my Twitter. This is disgusting. Everyone should be mortified by this. These human beings don't count less or have any less inherent dignity than any of us just because they're not U.S. citizens. We should all be ashamed fellow Americans have carried on this appalling misconduct. Personally I think I'm most disturbed that a lot (most?) of my fellow Americans don't seem to give a sh#t about this stuff.

  33. I agree, that was the best team to not win it all. I’m a little partial to the 82 & 83 teams because that is when I was a student at UNL. Another interesting poll might be to ask if people would’ve preferred kicking the extra point and actually winning it that way or if they’re content with losing it by going for the win. It was an extremely tough loss at the time but I’ve accepted it and am actually happy TO went for the win. I’m not sure how many would agree with me though. I think 82 is a solid #2 because of how we got screwed on the Penn State out of bounds call. We likely end up #1 without that one bad call. 93 is a close 3rd because it was only one made kick away. All 3 teams were incredible but that 82-83 scoring explosion with the triplets was really something. Things probably get more debatable after those 3.

  35. I suspect the author of the article is searching for reasons why his Iowa Hawkeyes are going to be competitive with Nebraska this fall. He targets and bashes the defense and even takes shots at the former Hawkeye (Chin - our Defensive Coordinator). Our defense last year was not great but it was in fact much better than the stats might indicate much like our 4-8 won loss record is not very indicative of the kind of team we actually fielded in November. We did make plenty of mistakes (penalties, fumbles, etc) and got off to a horrible start and it takes a while for an entire new staff and a load of new and or untested players to gel and get things better organized. Our QB play was not very good the first half of the year and this led to a couple of losses as well. Our Huskers were, as a matter of simple fact, not very good last year, but they slowly but surely showed signs and glimpses of what could be and made progress undoubtedly. Iowa won but it still took a last second field goal to do it. We also lost one in OT that we let slip away with a few costly errors. We were not a dominate team last year and probably won't be dominant this fall either but we should, as a team, be considerably better. Our offense was productive in many of the stats EXCEPT the most important one - points scored. That should get better as the entire team will have had a lot more time to practice and all get on the same page, etc. There will be fewer plays with receivers running the wrong routes, not blocking on the perimeter every play, etc. I would expect, conservatively, atleast an 8 point per game increase in scoring per game from the offense. That ought to translate into three or four more wins. The defense will be atleast 7 points a game better, conservatively, as we will have much more depth at the D line positions and much more experience operating Chin's defense. Our Defensive coaching is dramatically better than under Riley and even perhaps the last couple seasons under Pelini. This will help. Pure talent may not be dramtically better but the overall strength, conditiioning, stamina, guts and determination should be markedly better. I believe we will feel like we have Blackshirts out on the field, atleast most of the time. We are not deep enough across the back 7 yet to be top ten defensively, but I would suggest top 30 is quite reachable. Therefore, I respectfully disagree with the tone and tenor of the article cited and think a 14 point differential improvement in the scoring offense and defense will translate into a much better Husker season and will be good cause for anxst in Iowa City and Madison, etal. But we are going to need some miracles if we want to win more than 10 games in year 2 of the resurrection of Husker football.

  36. We're supposed to applaud Trump for threatening Mexico with a gigantic tax hike ON US because conservatives are comically afraid of brown people and obviously the answer is more border guards, walls, etc.

  37. Why should Mexico "protect" it's own borders from migrants? If Mexico is ok with the migrants, then they don't need to "protect" from them.
