  1. Some past coaches might even call these practices a "bloodbath."

  2. The ideal I-back would have the physical toughness of Lawrence Phillips, the heart of Rex Burkhead, and a name as cool as I.M. Hipp.

  4. Ahman Green to me was the greatest. LP suspended in what could’ve been a Heisman season? No problem, stick in a true freshman. Pressure? What pressure?? All he did was bruise and cruise. Had a good pro career too. He glided so well. But could dip that shoulder and run some mofo’s over. Overall, I’ll take the bruised type back. On a carry by carry basis, they get the yards no matter what.

  6. It’s kinda funny watching these things ‘cause you get excited about a good play or a comment in an interview and then you start worrying if one side is good because the other is bad. (Or at least I do).

  7. Well this thread got me thoroughly drunk on kool-aid today.

  8. “We're having historical prosperity right now not just by the American economy but the human race.” “Good times don't last forever, the economy cycles just like the weather.” Man, that was a fast flip. Must have taken a look at the stock market today lol.

  10. Bernie Sanders has been a lightening rod for people of both parties. Joe Rogan has been a libertarian who gives nobody a free pass. A lot of people have been talking about Bernie's appearance on Joe's show recently -- and maybe someone on Huskerboard already posted it -- but pretty much everyone willing to spend an hour with this clip has walked away saying "okay, now I get it." https://newmatilda.com/2019/08/13/bernie-sanders-101-the-joe-rogan-interview-you-should-watch-if-youre-wondering-what-all-the-fuss-is-about/

  12. well.....according to the electoral college he is the president. but he certainly doesn't act presidential and he is 100% the motivational speaker that is claimed here.

  13. The Little Debbie message board has a 200 page thread talking mad $h!t about Ho Ho's, but Hostess refuses to acknowledge that it is a true rivalry.

  14. No. They are both hostess products. Ho ho's natural rival would be little debbie swiss rolls.

  15. I'm always interested in specific star players on opposing teams, and I'm curious which ones other fans are excited to watch too. Excited might not be the right word, I'm not exactly excited to see us play Jonathan Taylor again. But as a fan of the sport as a whole, it's definitely fun to watch him play and how we try and handle him. I ended up making 3 polls which is probably excessive, and for QB I'm interested in who you're most interested in watching, while the other I'm just curious if you care about seeing them specifically at all so you can choose multiple. QBs: Montez has been there forever, and feels like the guy who ends up with school records as a result of that instead of actually being great. Fields and Johnson are both 5* transfers - Fields should be way more dynamic, but Johnson has the extra appeal of being in our division playing for a school that's never had a big time QB. Williams and Mertz are also highly touted, but as true freshman have even less proven than the 2 above. Neither may start, but Williams looks exciting and Mertz is interesting because an actual QB could make Wisconsin much better. Offense: Probably mostly familiar names. The 2 we haven't seen are Scott from Indiana and McFarland from Maryland - both ran for 1,000 yards lat year. Scott is a tank, and McFarland averaged 8 ypc last year, including a 298 yard game against Ohio State. Defense: Also should be a familiar group other than Karlaftis from Purdue, who is a big time true freshman, and Winfield from Minnesota who was hurt last year IIRC. I'm a sucker for good LBs, so I'm excited to see Landman and Fisher. Especially because as good as they are, I think our scheme is a huge problem for them - I remember Fisher making a lot more plays against us in 2017 than he did last year.

  18. What if we go 8-4 with no loss by more than a score and it turns out that Ohio State, Purdue, Wisconsin, and Minnesota all end up being really good teams with a lot of wins and earned top 20 rankings? If we looked like we belonged in those games but had some bad breaks, and those teams reveal themselves to be legit performers, I'd be fine and happy with that season. I'd want more and be frustrated that we're not at an earned and emphatic top 20 level yet, but then again I don't know what would make me think we deserve it or have earned it until we're there. idk I'm just along for the ride and can't wait to see what's actual potential and what's baseless hype.

  27. It's hilarious that after eight years, one of the best solutions they've come up with is as simple as "let's take an idea the fans have said on the messageboards since 2012 and just make the same uniform black instead of red with the blackshirts logo" That would be cool, because the only way to do it right would be to supply shirts to every single person in the stadium.

  28. Barry made an interesting comment to Michael Bruntz (I think?) yesterday, basically that Barry noticed he was not having to spend as much time engaging with offensive line players this fall camp in run blocking. The defensive line is doing a better job of freeing up the linebackers to make plays. So, I wonder how much possible improvement along the line will ultimately impact Barry's play. It's possible that he (and a lot of other players, to be fair) were still trying to do too much in order to make up for inconsistencies elsewhere.

  31. Probably nobody because the majority of politicians dont give a f#&% about the average person. And I know where youre going with this. You want me to say Bernie will. And then you will troll me like you always do. Do I know if Bernie will fix it? No. All I know is the status quo is not working and the only democratic socialist president weve ever had (FDR) was elected four times and Republicans had to make term limits because of it and also stimulated the economy with millions of jobs with his new deal to get us out of the great depression. https://www.thebalance.com/fdr-and-the-new-deal-programs-timeline-did-it-work-3305598

  32. Over 50% of American workers make $30,000 or less. Record debt from consumers and corporations, more so than in 2008 crash. National deficit is highest its ever been in the history of the country. 30% of the country is in collections. Stock buybacks which boosted the economy for a time after tax season are dying down. Yield curve is inverted. Trade wars. In what world are you living in is this economy the best its ever been? Because the DOW and S&P were doing well until they crashed last week? Most economists say its coming. And they say it will be worse than the last one. Great economy...
