Nebraska's secondary allowed opponents a 57.11% completion percentage last year. While not great thats a top 40 ranking despite a front 7 providing virtually zero pass rush. Minnesota meanwhile, allowed opponents a 64.79% completion percentage. 117th worst in the nation. And before you bring up the Gophers change at DC... Over the final 3 games of the season Nebraska's secondary improved to a sparkling 45.74% cpa which puts them at #4 in the country over that span while Minnesota's cpa barely dipped at all, improving to just 63.64 - still well outside the top 100. Minnesota's secondary isn't even in the same ballpark as Nebraska's.6 points

There is one specific play in the Pelini era that would have avoided the Riley disaster. It's called the jet sweep.6 points

Who is fighting? We are having an internet conversation. You made a statement and I asked a question. Challenging people on their beliefs is not wanting to fight. I had a nice back and forth with BRB yesterday but I never got the impression we were fighting.4 points

Another GOPer turns on Trump and urges a conservative primary challenger. It is a great day when other conservatives speak out against Trump. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/14/opinion/joe-walsh-trump-primary.html?smtyp=cur&smid=tw-nytopinion Some quotes from the OPED3 points

The post combined with your post history made me assume your stance was reform is futile. Thats why we ask questions to get further clarity on your stance.3 points

The bolded is a worn out talking point that the health care industry uses to scare people into change. There is tons of data showing that a different system like what is used in other industrialized countries actually performs better with better results and is about 1/3 the cost. Back when I was a Republican, I fell for this line.....not anymore.3 points

I thought we were supposed to pick one play out of Riley's playbook. I've been banging my head against the wall ever since.3 points
-
So we shpuld just let them do it this way intstead of trying to improve the system? Fact of the matter is healthcare for profit is the worst idea capitalism has ever come up with and we need to change it because it doesn't work for the consumer. Its not a fair system when the business can leverage life for profit.3 points

So, I think I just realized that I don't know how calendars work. I'm traveling on the 27th of September not August... The 27th of August works great for me.2 points

The way the system works my wife and I would be better off if one of us quit our job and accepted assistance. That's insane to me but 100% true. Not going to do it, but yeah it's the way it works. I think the reason we haven't seen real movement towards a health care system that comes out of taxes is because we obviously have too many lifer politicians in do nothing positions. And many of them are in bed with big pharma reaping the benefit of that to boot.2 points

Fair points, and I think it just emphasizes how little we tend to know about opposing teams. I don't even know who Olson and Andries are, and if I had to pick the best 3 lineman across the teams I'd give you Faalale and take Brendan Jaimes and Boe Wilson. Technically I have a little more ground to stand on there as both the Nebraska guys were honorable mention all-conference last year while the Minnesota guys were not - but I'll freely admit I have no idea how good those guys are and honorable mentions aren't much to go on as far as awards. I'm probably also factoring injury problems too heavily for Smith and Brooks at RB, but you might be focusing too much on what they could do when healthy. Some guys don't fully come back from knee/foot problems. We're obviously slower to believe the sudden defensive improvement for Minnesota is sustainable, and I'm sure quicker to believe in our second half improvements and counting on a year 2 jump that isn't a guarantee. It's finally going to be a fun division over the next few years, I don't think anyone other than Illinois is trending down.2 points

I would say we will see our CBs fair much better in the passing game this year because the front 7 will be better. Put that on top of the greatly improved team mentality.2 points

One could argue part of that temper is what made him so great.....on the field.2 points

If you think your CBs improved down the stretch and ours didn't you weren't paying attention. One of my many gripes with this list but its the biggest one. Husker corners performed very well in the last 6 games and I expect them to be one of the best duos in the BIG this season. Aside from that, I think teams will be taken by surprise a bit by our team speed this year. I think we will be a fair amount faster than we have been in some time.2 points

Where is Minnesota better other than WR and S? I think this is a case where neither team has a lot of proven players, so each fanbase is going to prefer their own team. We all believe the young players on our own team are going to be great, and we have no idea who the guys on the other teams are outside of past contributors and a few highly touted recruits. I could see an argument for RB, but I'd call that a push at best. Ibrahim obviously had more yards than Washington, but he just had more opportunities. The YPC is similar and receiving definitely in Washington's favor. Minny probab'y has the best individual d-lineman in Coughlin, but outside of Safety I'd still take Nebraska's position groups across the board. You'd probably do the opposite, but then it's not really "no question." I'd actually even take our safeties (I do love Winfield, but he's really the only guy), but I can recognize that's blind optimism more than anything objective.2 points

The median yards per carry across a wide subset of backs is about 3 yards. It’s the explosive runs that generally differentiate great backs from average ones.2 points

The sentence you leave with elipses points ends with "it just seems like a matter of time until the pivot to greatness is made" lol2 points
-
The way this sentence is worded, reads as though you think we could very well see a massive drop in quality going to a government health care/single payer plan. If I misread that, a simple clarification would clear it up. If I didn't misread that, then my post is appropriate in pointing out that the large amount of data on the issue, doesn't point to that conclusion. BUT...that's been the propaganda mantra from the healthcare industry and Republicans for a long time.2 points

So, trump got Israel to ban Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib from entering the country. Funny story. Israel didn't seem to have a problem allowing entry to some pretty virulent anti-Semitic people in the past. And here's your kicker. This dude? Trump likes him. It's a mixed-up world we live in when Israel is OK with admitting basically Nazis but not two members of the American Congress.2 points

Don't worry, capitalism is working on privatizing public water supplies. I'm sure nothing bad could happen from profiting off something that human survival depends on: https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/towns-sell-their-public-water-systems--and-come-to-regret-it/2017/07/07/6ec5b8d6-4bc6-11e7-bc1b-fddbd8359dee_story.html2 points

Post 1929, the economy was structured to ensure that banks behaved like banks, protecting the deposits of customers, maintaining a guaranteed minimum cash:loan reserve, investing in the community, and avoiding the more high risk investments allowed other financial institutions. After awhile, all those regulations got whittled down, allowing traditional banks, insurance companies, and basically anyone holding huge amounts of other people's money to live the high risk/high reward lifestyle of Goldman Sachs, tying the U.S. and world economy to a doomed ponzi scheme those regulations were designed to avoid.2 points
