  1. Dear HuskerBoard family, After 16 years of running HuskerBoard, it's time to turn the page. Jump to the last few sentences to find out where HB goes from here. Continue reading for my full "best man" wedding speech. I started HuskerBoard a few years after graduating from UNL in 2003, b/c I was a Husker zealot looking for someone to talk Husker football with while living in KC. I began by creating various profiles and having conversations with myself ... Shortly after, I convinced my old college buddy Eric, to join the schizophrenic conversation. We goofed around, shared our idiotic commentary with our multiple personalities, and our old school version of memes. Suddenly, people started showing up. Actual, real, not voices in our heads people - like you guys. Some of you even became our friends, and some lifelong friends - b/c of a crazy little place where adults click buttons and type things about sports stuff. Today, HuskerBoard stands strong at nearly 12K members and counting. The largest 100% FREE Husker forum on the web. With easily the most respectful and intelligent members and moderators. I'm extremely proud of what HuskerBoard has become. And it most certainly wouldn't still be here without MANY amazing contributors over the years. Too long to list them all, so to avoid missing someone I won't even start. You know who you are, so thank you from the bottom of my heart. And of course you incredible SOB members that are just as nutty about the Huskers as us. And some who may actually be clinically insane, you added a nice dash of color and entertainment to the board. It's been an honor being the Lord of the Flies; although some of you don't even know WHOTF I am, as I've been behind the scenes the past several years. I had to put my Husker addiction on the back-burner when I had my first daughter 7 years ago. I now have 3 kids, and my time is being stretched more everyday. I recently decided it was time to pass the torch. To someone I knew would maintain our values, and keep the HB spirit of ethics alive. David Max, the longtime owner of HuskerPedia and now HuskerMax will be taking over the board effective tomorrow August 27. I know the board will be in good hands, as David is a solid human being and amazing Husker fan. He vowed to maintain the board as a FREE forum, and will surely take it to even better places than I've had time for lately. And special thanks to Mavric for leading the crew so expertly the past few years. Mavric is the man, and is planning to continue onward & upward with HB. So please follow his lead and continue building HuskerBoard into the best Husker forum on the web. Thanks again to all, and GBR!! ~Mic drop~ Chad aka Blackshirt P.S. - David will make an announcement soon about his upcoming plans for the board, including an invitation to his Tailgate Party this Saturday!

  3. To be honest, I hate the huskermax software, because of too many intrusive ads, but mostly the pop ups. And I’m not alone, as the problem has been posted over there repeatedly for years. I like the site, have read it for many, many, many years and appreciate it as the remarkable Husker news aggregate it is. But I stay on it the absolute minimum I need to and stay away from it on mobile.

  4. This feels like Andrew Luck's premature retirement all over again. I mean, I've had a young family for years now, and managed to waste hundreds of hours on HuskerBoard. I hate to call Blackshirt "soft" but.... Seriously, thanks. Great board and good luck.

  5. Huh? Saying these are “mostly pro-style offenses” is flat out wrong. Clemson, OU, and OSU all run versions of a spread and also go at tempo (no, not as fast as Frost wants). Alabama has morphed into more of a no-huddle spread the last couple years from the pro-style they ran for most of Saban’s tenure. Georgia is the only offense out of this group I would call pro-style.

  12. This 1000 times. I was a member at HM for 2 years and left disgusted with the sheer volume of ads to fight through. HB has been a great place to read about Husker news. I will be curious about the changes but I'm not optimistic. Please keep Red Reigns chippy hind end at HM.

  13. My principal concern, is that David Max loaded up Husker max with advertizing, on both sides, on the top of the page, and on the bottom. many were very annoying, and it really slowed down the page loads. While it is great that this board will remain free, I hope we don't have the large influx of advertising.

  15. I'm not sure it's necessary. I don't believe that Frost took what he did at UCF in the AAC and immediately thought he could duplicate the same scoring explosion in year one at Nebraska in the B1G with a depleted roster and then was caught off guard 3/4 of the way into the season when it didn't work.

  18. I don’t post much anymore, but I do visit the board almost every day. Definitely gonna miss the status updates and most recent posts. Keep you up to date without spending the whole day on here. Also not fond of the huskermax setup/popup ads. Not that it matters but my 2cents.

  24. I don’t think you’re getting what the phrase game changer is or how most people use it. When people use “game changer” they mean when the player is on the field, the team is a lot better. Injuries are completely irrelevant in this conversation because it is about what the team is like when he’s on the field. Being uninjured is a pre-condition to his being a game changer; in other words anyone saying he’s a game changer is not stating the obvious out loud, which is that he has to be on the field/stay healthy in order to do that. But if he is on the field, that’s what he is.

  25. Then go talk to Frost about it.

  26. This board has meant a lot to me during the last 11 years, often in ways I have a hard time putting into words. It was my go-to message board all through college and still is to this day. It was my place to relax before a big exam or when I needed something to take my mind off of the real world. It helped me through bad break ups, family strife, job searches and late overnights at my first job out of school. Just knowing there was always a place to go that was well maintained, relatively clean, and just pure fun was such a cool thing. Thanks for your leadership and efforts from the beginning, Chad! I'm confident this place will keep moving forward positively. Go Big Red my guy.

  29. Since people keep mentioning the team's mullets and such, let's have a look at the hair of some of our players this season... Let's start things off with Will Farniok, who just stepped out of a Pantene commercial: Jaevon McQuitty: Luke McCaffrey may or may not have rolled out of bed just before this picture was taken: Andre Hunt, see above. Deontai Williams: Darien Chase, or possibly a crocheting accident: Miles Jones's hair may or may not be a braided version of the classic Moe haircut: Phalen Sanford: Damian Jackson really needs the curly mustache to complete the look: Garrett Nelson: Boe Wilson: Mosai Newsom makes me wonder if some of these guys have ever considered using french fries as hair extensions: Josh Wegener: Hunter Miller: Brant Banks: Brenden Jaimes: Kurt Rafdal might have a future as a TV news reporter: Jack Stoll gets my vote for best mullet: Jamin Graham, which I'm pretty sure is also the name of some stuff my mom used to buy for after-school snacks: And because I feel like including him, Zach Duval: Have any favorites, or other pics you'd like to share?

  36. You can go on line to Stubhub or SensationalSeats and buy a spot in these lots. From there, it's first come first serve. I got three spots in lot 19 for a company tailgate for the OSU game. It's the first time we will be in that lot, but I think it will be fun. The women coming to our event will appreciate this.

  40. Thanks for giving us a place and for everything you've contributed over the years Chad! Crazy to think I've been on this board for 12 years now, and have met probably 30 or so of you clowns in person. I'm looking forward to what comes next, although I hope we don't have another influx of huskermax weirdos like we did several years back.

  42. Thanks for everything you've done, C. It was a pleasure working with you, and it's been a pleasure being a member of this community before & after. I miss working with you, E & F, but time marches on & things change. Here's hoping HuskerBoard stays the same great community it's been these past 16 years.

  43. That's my point. It's much less about what happens and much more about how things are going and whether we like the coach or not. Tim Beck: Fullbacks are outdated Husker Fans: This guy is an idiot Mike Riley: We're going to use fullbacks Husker Fans: See! This guy understands Nebraska! Scott Frost: No fullbacks Husker Fans: Yeah ... well ... uh... Go Huskers!

  44. I'd say this is a reference to both the speed of the players and the speed of the plays. I think the Offense is ready to move FAST. Sounds like they're practicing about as quickly as the coaches want, and they're ready to unleash it live. If the coaches are speaking publicly about it, they're confident. I like it.
