  1. Just want to be on record........ Not a fan of threads where the only purpose is to call out an individual player. Truth be told, I’ve probably been a part of it in a past life. Put it under another O line thread or something about the offense. JMO.

  5. I am starting this topic to see if my views are shared or maybe I'm way off base. To me Matt seems in way over his head and I can't believe we don't have someone that is a better option. I'm by no means an offensive line guru, but his poor play sticks out like a sore thumb. For 2 years I've consistently seen him whiffing blocks, getting turned around, just not blocking anyone, or laying on the ground. Last week he had a Jake Cotton'esk moment where he completely missed an assignment that led to Martinez getting blown up, which resulted in Martinez fumbling and to add insult to injury Matt Farniok comes flying in stumbling and landed on top of Martinez at the plays end. If it wasn't so frustrating, it would have been pure comedy. Please tell me if anyone else sees this, the coaches see this and do we have somebody else to put in there?

  6. Most teenagers are perverts, it's called puberty. Most of them make really dumb mistakes that shouldn't define them for life. What Mo did is s#!tty. What she did was s#!tty. What the guys in the vid did was s#!tty. Mo isn't a child pornographer, it was a video of an ex gf who now claims it was rape. Him, being a D1 football player now gets to pay for it as much as possible and internet white knights get to pretend like they are superior.

  7. I am just glad that some of the folks on this board are not in a position of power. Some people really need a level head to assess the severity of a crime. Also I am tired of people beating the child porn lingo to make this whole thing sound like he is a deviant pedophile

  8. Good lord...he was 9/9 in the first half...He finished with 370 yards of offense and 4 TD's . His rating was 172. I have a feeling if you saw him walking on water you would complain that he didn't know how to swim. This was like his 12th game since his junior year of HS. There is film out on him now...he will adjust and get even better but he had a nice game.

  10. With all the talk about "What's wrong with the team?" I think the most important answer gets left unsaid. While people point to the run game (big problem), AM not finding open receivers (big problem), O-Line under-performing (big problem), I'd say the biggest thing this team has to figure out is... HOW TO WIN Anyone who has played and/or coached at a high level in any sport knows that WINNING is a skill that has to be learned, and it's maybe one of the most difficult things to instill in a team. To get from where we are now to where we want to be, it's going to take a group of real leaders who can drag the team through the mud at difficult stretches in games so we can start winning close games again, as well as instilling a killer instinct so they can go for the jugular when we're up by a couple scores and not let the other team get back into to game. Obviously the technique, scheme, and controlled aggression of the players need to continue to improve and that will create more wins in the future, but in games when things aren't going as well as they should, the will and skill to win games needs to come through. I believe we've finally got the right coach & staff for the job - Let's remember where this program was at 20 months ago, and not over-react when things aren't turning around quite as fast as we'd like.

  11. It's 14 games in to SF's hopefully storied return to the homeland, and I think some fans need to take a breath. There's lot to be done before this program is something to be reckoned with. But sadly, it's not gonna happen over night. It's gonna take a few years, some heartbreaking losses, and some tremendous victories, but it's gonna take time. Our fanbase has been waiting to say, "we're back" for 20 years, and we've been close a couple times, only to come up short. At other times we've collectively felt like K State fans, and I don't think I need say anything else about that. I'm sure SF has a vision for this team, but he needs the right pieces to execute it, and that's gonna take time. I have faith that we're gonna get back where we need to be.

  12. I agree with this. Saturday's loss was awful and struck a nerve with Husker Nation. That being said, I'm in it for the long haul. I'd much rather give Scott a lifetime contract and watch this thing play out for 20 years than hop on the coaching carousel 5 times in the next 2 decades. If we can't get this thing figured out with Scott, then I'm not sure we ever will.

  13. It seems obvious that we are fielding the best offensive line we can. Riley didn't leave a lot of raw talent or body types that could just be plugged in. You have to recruit the guy based on frame and then you have to fill him out in the gym and the dinner table. That takes time. Something that none of us really want to hear right now.

  14. What if cows lived on the moon? I mean we can sit here and postulate all we want but he got a half game suspension and he will be playing until his case in court is settled at which point the issue will be reevaluated. No amount of moaning and groaning one way or the other is going to change that

  16. This thread is a dumpster fire and should be locked imo. CapoVD or whatever you two call yourselves, if you dont like how the Washington situation has been handled take a sabbatical and dont support the team. No one cares what you think and your virtue signalling isn't impressing anyone. There is not reason to keep going on and on about this.

  17. Common thread? Lack of mental toughness. Or more to the point: killer instinct. We've had 20 years of teams who believe in themselves, and their coach, and the Nebraska legacy so they believe they should be in the hunt every year. Which is fine. But when they get punched in the mouth, they fall apart. Or play not to lose. Or take their foot off the opponent's throat. Or you know....fail to make in-game adjustments like the other team. If Nebraska fans now yearn for the coach who consistently left us with a mere four losses, unranked, and irrelevant at the end of the season, then the terrorists have won.

  21. Maurice wasn't on the team at the time of the incident if you want to play it like that. If you 'completely agree' with that other thing then you should see the nuance in an 18 year old sending a video to an ex girlfriend less than a year younger of that same person from a few years prior. It is technically a felony, it is a terrible thing to do, but honestly how much different is it than if he had done the exact same thing a few months earlier when he was 17 years old?

  24. What do you mean, "look at Bama?" Ok, I'm looking at the most dominant program in the last 20 years who is lead by arguably the best coach of the last 20 years who's been there running the same system since 2007. What could possibly be the takeaway there as it pertains to our situation of a program that just cleaned house and is in year 2 after taking over from an absolute dumpster fire?

  26. colorado has a legit offense and we held them scoreless in the 1st half. without some flukey turnovers by martinez, we win this game easily. heck, if our kicker doesn't get hurt (which almost never happens) we probably win this game. i definitely think we're missing some pieces to be a great team, but i still think we're a bowl team this year with a bright future.

  29. I agree with this. If you reranked the 2015, 2016 and 2017 classes I bet we are closer to CU, obviously not USA. The 2018 and 2019 classes definitely are more talented than CU, but they are freshmen and sophomores. I don't think the talent explains everything, but I also don't think it's totally invalid.

  32. It was also probably just a blip of a mental error by Cam also because it looked like he went for disrupting the reception at the last second when in reality he wasn't close enough to the play to do so, whereas if he stays on his feet and stays with the guy he makes the tackle at mid-field...and maybe they don't get into the end zone on that drive. Unlucky.

  34. I agree and it's plainly evident in Farniok's comments that they let up in the 3rd quarter. You absolutely can not let up until you're sitting on the bench and the back ups are in because you're up so far. Where the hell is the killer instinct that makes you want to go out and totally demoralize the other team so bad they want to go home and call mommy? THAT is learning how to win consistently.

  35. Something keeps bugging me after rewatching the over time. On the third play, the right guard (I think it's Wilson) effectively blocks his guy. At that point, the entire O line is doing a good job of blocking their guy. But...what does he do? He leaves him and goes to help Farniok block his guy....who he wasn't having a problem with....and Wilson just leaves his guy to have a straight shot at 2AM for the sack. Why in the hell would you leave a defender, that is right in front of you, to help a guy that wasn't getting beat....only to allow your guy to have a clear path to the QB? Stuff like that is just so frustrating.

  36. Returning receivers from 2018: the main reason we should be using Stoll and Allen JD Speilman 818 yards, 8 TD Mike Williams 122 yards, 0 TD Kade Warner 95 yards, 0 TD Our #2 WR is a true freshman who primarily played RB in HS Our #3 WR is a grad transfer who was hurt and played sparingly last season at Cal

  40. Saving the video and sending it years later is the Revenge Porn charge. Having the video regardless of how long is the possession part. That's where people are drawing the line. I agree what Mo did was wrong and stupid and he should be punished. However comparing him or any high schooler to some real child porn creep makes no sense to me.

  42. So, every 16 year old who has sent nudes to their significant other in high school is a deviant? I'm guessing you weren't in high school with cell phones because based on my experience 90% of my school was a deviant child pornographer by your definition.

  43. So basically, you're not struggling to understand what's wrong with the team. You just want Frost to come out and say it bluntly to somehow make you feel better. I'm pretty sure when they review the film, Martinez will be shown how he missed some guys on their routes. Saying that to the media isn't a great move by your head coach.

  44. In the post game presser he said several of these or versions of them including, holding the ball too long, poor play calling on his part, not seeing the field. I think people just ignore those.

  45. Nebraska was a lot closer to those programs five and ten years ago then today. Much closer.

  46. What would you have them say at a press conference after a loss? "We suck and we're not going to get any better"? "We might as well quit trying because our season is over now"? "I just hope we can win a couple games sometime this year"?

  47. Here's the thing: Take the Northern Illinois game this week. You have this team that's semi-decent that comes in and they know their only real chance to win is to stack the box defensively. So you're just running into a big pile of bodies. We have a center who's only played the position two games in his football career and a sophomore walk-on at left guard. With the right scheme, you punish their defensive game plan by throwing to the edges quickly. Once they loosen up and start spreading out to combat that, you punch 'em in the mouth with the interior runs. This offense is capable of "pass to set up the run" instead of how it's traditionally the other way around.

  48. I'm not sure many of them are fans at all or that they were on the ship to begin with. All I've seen for the last day around here is a bunch of whiny a$$ petulant children that don't have 5% of the commitment that is required to even play on the team.....and a whole lotta newbie trolls. Lost a lot of respect for some longtime posters as well. Grown men who seem to think 18-21 yo kids owe them something. Sad.
