  2. Jeebus effin Krist. A lackluster showing against a season opening doormat and a 2nd half letdown and now we need to overhaul sh#t Yes, the team needs to get more focused and mentally stronger but I'm not convinced that isn't already happening and just taking longer than any of us would like. This staff has had less than 2 years to deal with the remnants of soft Mike and the angry nose.

  3. Sometimes fault doesn't matter. But don't let short term memory forget that not so long ago, a Riley led Husker team couldn't even get Ohio State to punt, and got DESTROYED by Iowa and Penn State. Destroyed. With the exception of the Michigan game, Frost has the team competitive. Riley sucked.

  4. I wish I would have saved the tweet, but it's buried in someone's timeline and I don't recall which reporter even posted it, but I believe it was Sunday, and one of our beat guys was talking to a Colorado official, and quoted him as saying this was a classic "altitude game." Our players have denied that altitude had anything to do with the game. But the team I saw on the field in the second half looked gassed. They battled valiantly, especially the defense in OT, but I think they're unwilling to admit that no matter how well-conditioned they are, they still played 4,000 feet above the elevation they did their summer workouts in, and it affected them. I was super pissed Saturday after that loss. Left a family function in a funk, and still feel bad about that. But after thinking about it, I'm not willing to remain all pissed off right now. But if we struggle with NIU, and/or lose... I'm going to set my hair on fire.

  5. I don't know that I buy that we're still losing because we're "mentally soft." Last year and under Riley, absolutely - players stopped playing hard and gave up. They didn't give up against Colorado, they were still playing hard. They absolutely need to develop the killer instinct, and maybe a sports psychologist could help with that. But I think it comes with experience, and this team is still new to even having the opportunity to step on an opponent's throat. This is different than most of the issues last year, with the exception of the NW game. Let's give them more than 2 chances to put teams away before we insist they are mentally "soft."

  7. It’s ok to be unhappy about the loss on Saturday and not over react and think nobody but you can see reality.

  9. But its kind of weird to judge his overall record now. What if we finish the season 10-2? This all looks stupid. What if we finish 1-11? He is the worst coach in Husker history. I mean its impossible tp judge things from here. Mike Riley was looking pretty solid 7 games into his 2nd season. I feel like we need to let the whole season play out because alot happens by the end.

  10. I think Lee and Taylor-Britt had some of the best looking tackles I've seen in years from anyone on defense. Went low around the waste wrapped up and stopped the guy in his tracks.

  11. Thanks for starting us down the path of ruining this site. Your other site (admax or adpedia or whatever) is so full of freaking ads it is unreadable. I suppose for the suckers that pay you money the site is a little better, but oh well. Again, thanks for ruining things.

  12. Those are several adjustments, and Colorado didn't roll them all out at once. And for stunts in particular, while I'm sure we have some plays that would specifically take advantage of the movement, for passes its really on the lineman to handle them. Can't really call a stunt specific pass protection.

  15. Then Moos should have canceled this game and scheduled like Alcorn State. That's what we are discussing here right, lowering the bar because excuses are all the rage this week.

  16. I mean.. we've played 2 games in year 2, so it is literally impossible for us to have cleared that this year. We'll talk if we don't clear it after 12 games this year.

  17. It's 14 games in to SF's hopefully storied return to the homeland, and I think some fans need to take a breath. There's lot to be done before this program is something to be reckoned with. But sadly, it's not gonna happen over night. It's gonna take a few years, some heartbreaking losses, and some tremendous victories, but it's gonna take time. Our fanbase has been waiting to say, "we're back" for 20 years, and we've been close a couple times, only to come up short. At other times we've collectively felt like K State fans, and I don't think I need say anything else about that. I'm sure SF has a vision for this team, but he needs the right pieces to execute it, and that's gonna take time. I have faith that we're gonna get back where we need to be.

  18. I said a few weeks ago I havent been following politics closely for very long but when I started to it took me about a day to see the republicans for who they are: evil, despicable lying hypocrites. How anyone votes for them is beyond me but I guess some people like that s#!t.

  19. Of course it's both, it absolutely is. Frost obviously needs to get his players here, players that don't need a complete reboot. But tap dancing bear on skates......he is 5-9 in 14 games. That's not all "Riley's guys suck". I heard the hype pre season, Frost has them so far along blah blah blah. But now we can't play 4 quarters of offense so we dig back in the bag and reuse the "It's Riley's fault" excuse. I'm all in on Frost, could not be happier he is here. But yikes.....

  20. Or as the coaches phrased it, the lack of overall depth and talent leaves us with a small margin for error. That includes game management errors.

  21. Well the numbers say otherwise. When most of your participants are are Fr., RSFr. and So. That probably means you don't have upperclassmen to play. It's partially that they suck, but the other aspect of it is there aren't many left. Alot of those guys have transferred. I'm not saying Frost doesn't deserve a good size helping of blame for this loss. But at the same time the idea that he needs more time to build the roster isn't wrong.

  22. I mean I'm an optimist and all, but I don't know how you spin recruiting a club soccer player as an emergency kicker as a positive. They're not the first staff to try finding specialists already on campus, it doesn't usually work. Maybe it does this time and I guess credit the staff for leaving no stone unturned, but I don't think it's as novel an idea as they're making it seem. It's been tried plenty, we just don't hear much about it because it rarely works.

  23. This is a team that is on the rise. You can debate that we may not have played our best to this point, but even if they don't admit it, you can guarantee that we got Colorado's best. I am totally fine with 10-2, 9-3, 8-4, 7-5 6-6 this year. Keep the Faith, and enjoy the ride.

  26. Stop me if you've heard this: "We are better than we played!" "We will bounce back from this!" "We outplayed them but beat ourselves" "Next year is where it comes together" I give up. I thought it was bad going to and losing 3 conference title games in 4 years. Didn't realize how bad it would be only making 1 bowl game in 4 years (at this rate).

  27. Great break down by the guys at Corn Nation and how CU adjusted at the half and NU's O didn't. A lot was predicated on, as posters noted, delayed and disguised blitzes. Also new and inexperienced OL making the wrong calls/reads based upon the "look" of CU's defenders. Also mentions a NU lineman who "lunges" in pass pro (and did last year) that DC's have picked up on. Good read and suggestions IMHO. Unsure how long it will take to shore up, but explains a lot of the offensive miscues. https://www.cornnation.com/2019/9/11/20859894/nebraska-football-colorado-loss-plays-key

  28. Yeah I must say the change of 15 posts per page then having an ad on every single page I click on is a bit annoying and frustrating. I love this site and everyone apart of it but the ads are so frequent that I don’t visit here as much or as long as usual.. tbh I don’t even know what the ads are for since I’m furiously trying to find and click that f**king X so I can see the bottom quarter of my screen

  30. From Facebook I see a lot of posts saying where they were. Me, I was in between classes walking through the High School. On my way someone who clearly didn't grasp the gravity of the situation told me "Terrorist's just attacked the World Trade Center" and kind of chuckled. I didn't really understand what they meant, in my head I pictured a bunch of SWAT looking guys like you'd see in a Die Hard movie, raiding business office floors. Then I got to my class and naturally it was the only thing we really did the rest the day, watch the news coverage of the scene in New York. Events like these are unfortunately unavoidable, bad things happen. But as a nation, we all came together that day. Nobody was excluded, there wasn't man or woman or black or white. Everyone was "American". 18 years later this country is more divided than ever. Race, gender and even justification to rights of non citizens are hot button issues. Today we remember those fallen. I wish we could also remember the unity we all shared that day. From disaster breeds real feelings. Unfortunately that unity isn't permanent. Beliefs and prejudices take back over. Here's to hoping that people can again remember what it was like to stand shoulder to shoulder instead of from an imaginary podium looking down on those they disagree with or feel superior to. Here's to those lost, to those who responded and to those who served. Thank you. #NeverForget

  31. I don't think any of us expected Scott Frost to post the worst start in 125 years of Nebraska football, and finish with the same record that got Mike Riley fired. Maybe you weren't surprised. Can't vouch for your expectations there. But I do recall you saying there was no excuse for Nebraska to lose to Purdue. Ever. And that Husker fans looking for moral victories in losses to unranked opponents only proved how far we've fallen. Just keeping you consistent, ol' chum.

  33. Agree with this. Offensive penalties also killed us in the second half. 1st half - False Start 2nd half - Offensive holding - Illegal formation - Illegal block - Intentional grounding Also, all 6 of Colorado's sacks came in the second half. A lot of that is just a lack of focus. Three of those penalties came on a drive that ultimately ended in a punt and the illegal formation was on a punt giving CU better field position. When Frost talks about the small margin for error this team has, this is what he's referring to. Clean first half leads to dominating an inferior team, ugly second half leads to blown lead.

  34. So much for honoring the lives of the people who sacrificed everything for our country. At least....isn't that what Republicans preach? Question: Why weren't THEY at the 9/11 memorial service?

  35. I want to point out something that I think points to the S&C program working. I don't remember a play where we needed 1 yard for a 1st down and we didn't get it. The staff expects at that point to put 2AM under center and get that push....the O line is getting it. That hasn't always been the case.

  36. Why can't it be both, gentlemen? We mismanaged what we had/got conservative in the 3rd quarter, and we also just don't have the kids we need (especially on the O-Line) ready or waiting in the wings.

  39. Frost is accumulating playmakers, but they need the foundation of talented linemen to be the complete package. There was a point in the first half against Colorado when I was amazed at how MANY weapons the Cornhuskers had on offense: AM, Washington, Spielman, Wan’dale, Stoll. But without a line that can give the QB time to make his reads for a longer play, or to impose their will in a running play up the middle, we aren’t playing with the entire field. Having a healthy place kicker come in handy too.

  40. I’d argue Nebraska fans are way different. Especially the younger ones. The next time I see fans of the schools you mention spend 20 years in the dark, yet still sell out the home stadium, travel to other stadiums and take them over, and thirst for information so badly the local media has to conjure up stories in March about the team, I’ll let you know. This fanbase may have been spoiled, but you have to admit it’s unique. And deserving of a winner. And is tired of being told “tomorrow”
