  1. I will guarantee you that was written by the marketing arm of the NRA. Notice a couple things. A) Why would this happen to him? He’s a good conservative. B) He was in church while the disgusting liberal was home combing through his Facebook page. C) he flies the flag and everyone else hates it. These are key hot button points.

  2. Well .... technically yes. But it's kind of a blunt hammer. And might not work exactly how you'd like.

  3. As I sat right behind the sideline, watching and listening (when the crowd was quiet enough) to the coaching staff making adjustments, the thing that caught my attention was how often the coaches would come over and say the same freaking thing. Watch for this, call out the Mike, watch for this look, watch for this shift. These are young and inexperienced players. They are definitely trying to learn. They just need to do it when they’re winning too. The focus wasn’t the same for a few of them when they were dancing on the sideline up 17-0. That being said, most do really care. Cam Taylor-Britt was so upset he missed the read for the flea flicker that he was ready to throw the bench. He was also so pissed that he gave all he had left to catch Shenault and strip the ball from him the very next time he was on the field. They have the drive to learn and to improve. We’re in a weird place right now, but I expect this year to be a lot like last year. Every game they’ll get a little better. Honestly, the only game I’m worried about setting us back is the Ohio State game. Those kids can’t suffer a big loss (+21 points). There is a decent chance we’re competitive in that game as well, but I’m worried about a blowout at this point. We aren’t ready for competition at that level at this point this season. Every other game I think we will have a shot in the 4th quarter to win. It’s going to be an exciting and stressful year. Buckle your chinstraps gents. A major vote of confidence: Urban Meyer has had some pretty interesting thoughts on this Huskers team. He still seems to think they can make a run at the B1G championship and is 100% confident in our coaching staff. He said this may be a year early still, but they are much improved from his previous years coaching against them. He talked about how much better they are on defense already. As much as I kind of hate that guy, I respect his knowledge of football. He knows more than the rest of us collectively on the HuskerBoard. We’ve got the right people, we just need to let them work their magic.

  4. Too many people have created their own false reality. It gets validated everyday on Facebook, social media, "news" stations with an agenda and by our President. Throw in the NRA and other lobby groups that create and fund the narrative and, well, this is what you get. As an aside, I find it comical that even in an obvious NRA talking point story that innocent people get shot and killed by guns. Two cops, two innocent homeowners....you would think their version of a gun infested Utopia should be extremely safe with only criminals getting shot. Guess it doesn't matter to them as long as lots of people are getting shot.

  5. I haven't said anything about this, because anyone calling out bad calls after losses gets blamed for "making excuses" and there's a litany of "the refs didn't cost us the game," but on that flea-flicker there was some pretty serious holding on the left side of their line. They call that it's a Safety, we're up 19-7 and getting the ball back on a free kick, and the game is completely changed. This is not a "the refs cost us the game" post. But when Big Ten refs call holding on your opponent once in five years... there's kind of a pattern there.

  6. I definitely was screaming "HOLDING" several times during the game when it didn't get called. Does this count for anything? I don't think my wife appreciated it too much...

  7. I think Frost and his staff have made a lot of mistakes since they've been here, and they've battled a lot of adversity that maybe they didn't face at UCF. But at the same time, I see them as being aware of their mistakes and working to correct them. Frost is a young coach still, and as long as he and his assistants continue to be self-aware and acknowledge their mistakes, I think the sky is the limit for this team under Frost's leadership.

  9. Using a "trusty ole" Remington 870 for home defense? I hope he practiced quite a bit with that thing because unless it's the breaching model then that's going to be hard to get around corners and draw up on any intruders. Shotguns have their place in defense but not the "trusty ole" type. Leave those for hunting. I know guns very well and own several. This guy is an idiot and it seems like he dreams of the day he gets to use one on another human. That's the last thing any gun owner should want to do.

  11. This is great analysis. If Scott sees a pattern of those corner blitzes, you punish the other team in the flats or on the quick slants. You'd think that both JD and Noa would be great here on the slants. The thing that's consistently crazy to me is that it seems like we have the roster talent on offense to score 40+ per game. Have to make good in-game adjustments as the opposing defense adjusts.

  14. We recruit better than Iowa, Wisconsin & Northwestern. We're more valuable than Iowa, Wisconsin & Northwestern. We have more revenue than Iowa, Wisconsin & Northwestern. We just can't beat Iowa, Wisconsin & Northwestern. Past four years vs: Iowa: 0-4 Wisconsin: 0-4 Northwestern: 1-3

  15. Not sure that's really fair. T Martinez (freshman) - 116/196, 1631 yards, 59.2%, 8.3 ypa, 10 TDs, 7 INTs, 138.8 rating A Martinez (freshman) - 224/347, 2617 yards, 64.6%, 7.5 ypa, 17 TDs, 8 INTs, 139.5 rating Adrian had a lot more attempts and a better percentage, Taylor had a better ypa, Adrian had the edge in TD:INT ratio but their ratings were almost identical. Adrian was definitely better but I don't know that it's so drastic to say that Taylor wasn't a threat to throw the ball.

  17. At a lower level, but being a former QB there is nothing worse than a newbie center. I'm not saying Jurgens won't get better, because he does have the talent and potential, but right now, it's growing pains. His snaps got better but still weren't great Saturday. He doesn't have the experience to call out LBs - which is what hurt us in the 2nd half. Noa and Robinson weren't even on campus last year and are starting. Hixson is a walk on. Our o-line are average players.

  18. Those are several adjustments, and Colorado didn't roll them all out at once. And for stunts in particular, while I'm sure we have some plays that would specifically take advantage of the movement, for passes its really on the lineman to handle them. Can't really call a stunt specific pass protection.

  19. What I don’t understand is why our coaches didn’t adjust for that in real time? Surely this was obvious to the staff during the game? It seems like every first year coach can easily scheme against us. Not just SF, but for the past decade.

  25. Never said the game was a gimme. I said Nebraska has the potential to have a better looking offense than Utah has. Wittingham is a defensive coach. Offensively Utah is traditionally very ball control. They want to pound the rock. They usually don't have great passing QB's. I was not surprised at all at how the game was close at halftime and Utah pulled away in the second half. No I think NIU is a quality MAC team. Have thought so for years. NU needs to show up and play decent to win. If they play well though their is no reason they can't win by 17-21 pts. There are very few gimmes left in college football. As far as the PAC 12 goes, it is a conference of teams beating up on each other. Outside of Oregon St lately none of the other teams are gimmes in conference. You got to watch some of the late games the PAC beats up on each other. You watch Utah will drop one to someone in conference that you don't think should happen. Cal just beat Washington last weekend on a late FG. Cal had no business on paper winning that game.

  26. Utah is currently ranked #11 and is considered the best team in the conference Colorado belongs to. NIU played them tough. They could well be a better team than Colorado. We had a week to lick our wounds and look for strategies to exploit. That counts for something. But this game was never a gimme. At this point, is any game a gimme?

  27. This makes a lot of sense to me with the offensive struggles. Sometimes I think coaches get in their own heads and are like oh if we call x play, y play should work because they're expecting z play. I think there's been a lot of "trying too hard" both from the coaches and some of the players at times the last couple weeks and it's hurt us. It's like being so afraid of making a mistake that you actually end up overthinking it and making more mistakes.

  32. Agreed. This is really suspicious. How would he know anyone hates his flag? He could "see the hate in their eyes." Whose eyes? How did he see them? If he saw them, why didn't he talk to them about the flag? This seems like a "that happened" scenario. I have no doubt this was posted on someone's FB. I just have every doubt he had any kind of interaction with his librul neighbors.

  34. A key reason these different defensive looks are successful is our inexperience. Our starting center is an absolute newbie to the position. There's no substitute for game experience followed by film study.

  37. What if cows lived on the moon? I mean we can sit here and postulate all we want but he got a half game suspension and he will be playing until his case in court is settled at which point the issue will be reevaluated. No amount of moaning and groaning one way or the other is going to change that
