  1. That even with a 44-8 win and not allowing an offensive TD, this fan base still finds ways to nitpick and bitch about the team versus enjoying the win. I swear, we're the most self absorbed fan base in CFB.

  2. Don't be that guy.... The fan base is the only thing that kept this program anywhere close to relevance the past 18 years....

  3. Well one of the reasons we hire Scott Frost. Should we have lost to Colorado? Nope. Did we? Yep. But here is the difference: In years past Nebraska loses that game to Colorado, just like they did last Saturday, and we hear the coaches quotes, we hear the players quotes, and we are fed to believe things will change, but they never do. It becomes the same thing year after year. We as fans get frustrated that it doesn't seem like there is any true pride in those loses and changes wont happen. But that is where Frost comes in and is different. Why? Because Frost is a Cornhusker, he's a Nebraskan. I think it is clear that many got swept up in the hype train that was created about this team/program that had back to back 4-8 seasons. Bottom line is, there is more of a rebuild going on here than we realize because we got blind sided by the hype that was pushed out. So comes the loss to the Buffaloes, one that leaves us scratching our head, but it shouldn't because that rebuild is still happening. It was a loss that stung, but the difference was, what our head coach was saying after the loss actually had meaning, it felt real, unlike years past. Then comes Northern Illinois, yes it was "just" Norther Illinois, but as Nebraska fans, coming off back to back 4-8 win seasons, there really shouldn't be "Just's". There is no such thing as guaranteed games anymore, and certainly not at this point in this programs rebuild. But what we saw was adjustments, not just by the players, but the coaching staff. We saw improvement by the team and by the coaching staff. Frost realized things needed to change and he changed them. It was refreshing, it was exciting. This year is still early, and my expectations aren't what they were before kickoff of game 1 vs South Alabama. But here is a nice thing to realize, Nebraska already has 2 wins, half way to last years win total and we aren't even in October yet. A bowl game is very well in reach, and again a program coming off back to back 4-8 seasons, a bowl game should be a realistic expectations and move forward from there. Colorado's loss stung, but seeing and knowing the program is changing and our head coach is meaning it is refreshing and exciting. The culture is changing at Nebraska and the payoff is going to be great.

  4. Something is wrong with Martinez. I dont care what frost or anyone says, hes getting high, hes got gf issues, hes debating coming out of the closed, hes afraid of his roomate, hes got turf toe, his hair tickles his ear every time he throws, hes debating on turning in his publishers clearing house card, he became allergic to the color white, i dont know but its something. If he cant get his head clear he needs to sit. He thinks hes the guy, but he sure as hell hasnt shown that hes the guy.

  7. Our O-Line had fleeting bouts of competence, but I'm afraid that missed blocks, poor communication, and poor run blocking are here for the rest of the season. Kids don't just grow up overnight. Our special teams should have their own special helmets and a separate bus to bring them to the game. We needed a secondary player to kick a field goal. We may as well have seen if the kicker from The Replacements had elegibility left... I haven't been this happy to see scrubs since I went to a TLC concert (RIP Left Eye Lopez, gone too soon).

  8. I had the chance to talk to Tommy Frazier a few months after the Fiesta Bowl win against Florida. I said that my favorite part was when "we were whipping the so bad on defense that their coach just had a lost, dumbfounded look on his face." I immediately corrected myself saying "Well, not we, I meant the Husker Defense". He said "No, you're right. The fans are every bit as much a part of the team as the QB, the offensive line and the coaching staff". I'l go with his thought on this personally.

  9. The score of the Utah game was 35-17, so we blew NIU out even more than they did. Utah is also ranked #11, so if that means we're performing better than the #11 team in the country, I'm OK with that!

  10. We have a defense that can keep an opposing team out of the end zone for an entire game. This team will only be as good as its offensive line.

  14. There’s nothing wrong with having concerns about how we’ll look against tougher competition. Especially when some of the same problems we had against South Alabama and Colorado showed up against Northern Illinois. The offensive line hasn’t looked like they’ll be good against the decent B1G teams. Hopefully this game and the Illinois game will be enough for them to get better.

  15. We needed a blowout win. But we don't look sound enough to get the wins over the tough teams on our schedule. We miss our kicker and Kade Warner. Warner is the possession WR we don't have on the field but AMart needs. AMart looked better but he was under duress again from a weak OL. OL is the glaring weakness. Inside blocking is the problem. That is why you are seeing AMart rushed at through the interior of the line and why we can't run between the tackles. The OL is going to cost us a game we should not lose. The defense may be dangerous enough to sneak us a win we shouldn't get. Our best players are all outside perimeter guys good in space...MoWash, JD, and Wandale. To beat an elite team we are going to have to play fast and try to get some defense and special teams points. I wish the offense was coming together as a unit as it seems the defense is. Surprises me to say that the defense looks ahead of the offense in terms of what I was expecting this season. The defense is performing around what I expected but I expected the offense to be much better than what they have shown and be the unit that drove this team to victories.

  18. I learned a significant portion of you guys are on crack or something. There is room for improvement for Martinez, but that was an excellent game. Was tentative running like twice and missed a few throws, that's it. Are we just ignoring those errors from last year? Or in other quarterbacks? Nobody goes 25-25 passing, and a few of his incompletions he at least gave the receivers a chance. Go rewatch the games last year and tell me this is significantly worse. It is possible to have a great game with a few bad plays. I'm not that concerned with the line as long as Jaimes is healthy. Being disruptive is NIU's thing, if you get yards on them it's the way we did - big plays offsetting some TFLs. Blame the coaches too if you want, apparently they were in a defense we didn't prepare for we were in 11 personnel, which is usually a lot of the time. This is as disruptive a defense we will play this year. We will play better ones, but we're improving and I think disruptive Ds are the ones with the most potential to shut down a Frost O.

  19. I think the loss was humbling for Frost. That's a good thing. In the presser after NIU, Frost said that he had to listen to his staff and others about the "No fear of failure" mantra. He realized he needs to not fear it either. Husker fans are a bi-polar bunch, but he is one of our own and Husker nation has his back. I've come to the realization that we did not decline in one season and we will not be re-built in a season or two either. A lot of positives going forward, but room for improvement for sure.

  20. That's pretty ignorant. I'm guessing that other than folks here that are 100% native american or potentially have immigrated from elsewhere in the last 60-70 years everybody has relatives who owned, hired or traded slaves. Even my very poor relatives that immigrated from Europe and eventually made their way to Nebraska for the Homestead Act had slave interests while they were farming in NC, VA, KY etc. sometimes listed as "housekeeper" or "horseman" "caregiver". Some slaves were even tradespeople. Many seem to have the idea that slavery was mostly large numbers of people working on a farm to bring in crops but that's actually a very small part of the overall population. Give me your info and some time on ancestry.com and it's pretty easy to trace. And there's a difference between being a slave owner, and a slave holder which is interesting, but regardless the slave society is a broader idea with far more impact than if you just looked at who owned another person on paper. And all our people were a part of that. Just think about the folks used to build the railroads that populated Nebraska - it was not the hands of citizens who built the tracks.

  21. If the Wide Receiver would have held his block that play would have gone 30-40 yards. That was just a lack of execution on that play.

  22. Fully agree. We are all so invested in this, spend hours of our lives, and in some cases way too much money (CU tickets!). It is petty and silly to call out people for using we and our. Yes we know we're not playing, get over yourself and have a good time.

  23. Pretty unusual chain of events late in the first half: -they quick kick on 4th down -we get stopped in our end zone for a safety -decent punt by us on the safety kick -stop them for a 3 & out -they quick kick again -two minute drill with less than a minute and deep end zone strike for Noa's first touchdown

  24. Any team that calls a swing pass 3 yards deep in there own endzone deserves just a small amount of nitpicking I believe.

  25. 1. I have restored hope in Dedrick Mills 2. It won't matter who the kicker is if we continue to allow the defense to run straight through the middle of the line and block kicks. I'm sure coach Dewitt will get that cleaned up immediately. 3. We're going to have to throw the ball around the yard this year. Our run game is either 0 yards or 60 4. When's the last time we blocked a punt?! Freaking awesome! 5. Lamar Jackson deserves a TON of praise. I thought after the Purdue game last year when he got benched that he was going to transfer. He stuck it out and is playing at an elite level so far this year. 6. Run defense this year has been stout AF, and that's going to be huge in conference play. 7. I really hope Cam Taylor-Britt isn't hurt badly. He's a great player and a guy you can build a defense around

  26. This was a damn good win. Defense was very good. Offense was great in moments and still had the yips. I think we worked out some kinks in this game, hopefully we work them out completely next week. This is a top 20 team, very young and still learning. Next year should be awesome .

We can pay for education but your assertion of an individual paying for another individuals college is a troll job at best. Try looking at the bigger picture and stop taking this issue so personally.

  32. The offense, starting with Martinez, needs to be more consistent. They've shown flashes of what they're capable of and the ceiling is high. You had all offseason to work out the kinks. It's time to grow up. The defense can hold their own when they play hard and they showed last night they can play hard for a full game. I'm resigned to the fact there's not much we can do about the kicking game until we get our kicker back. It was nice to see the 2nd team offense not only play, but actually drive and put it in the endzone. It was nice to see the 2nd team defense not only play, but keep the other team out of the endzone. Overall the game was a step in the right direction. I suspect we'll clobber Illinois. This team needs all the confidence it can get when Ohio State comes to town.

  33. I thought the defense lucked out on a couple dropped passes and a couple wide open wr that had our guys beat against better teams those were touchdowns. That needs to be cleaned up. Offense we have no o line. I'm not holding my breath either when is the last time we have seen good line play from this team. This needs to get better. We have no kicker. A lot of kicks getting blocked cause we have no o line. This needs to change. Washington is a stud

  35. Thank god BTN next game. Plus Fox is WAY too many commercials .... long commercials, one kickoff play, long commercials, one series, long commercials, minor injury, long commercials, score, long commercials, ref's challenge, long commercials, timeout, long commercials, etc etc. Equal to David Max ads.

  37. I really liked this touchdown in the third quarter: It's double tight end. Allen is on the edge, Stoll is in the pistol/offset. Stoll sweeps across. Adrian makes the right read and then just follows his block inside of Stoll while Allen kind of traps a guy. Great play by both tight ends. I'd like to see more of this kind of play in midfield as well.

  38. The "you were never a slave, and I was never a slave owner" argument gets mocked, but it's also....true. As disgusting as slavery was, it certainly wasn't unique to the United States, and certainly isn't the only genocidal-like event in human history. The idea of handing out large sums of money to descendents is laughable in my opinion.

  39. The quality of kicking tonight wasn't an issue. The issue was that somehow we forgot or didn't try or were unable to block the rush. That's got nothing to do with the kicker unless Armstrong is somehow taking a notable amount of time longer to go through the kicking motion, which didn't seem like the case to my amateur eyes at least. I don't want AM to sit, but I don't give a s#!t about the stats - I agree he is still off. He doesn't look right, or the same. Almost every throw he does a double clutch, he's got happy feet, when he runs he doesn't seem particularly decisive, etc. He's second guessing himself quite a lot, but he's still got an immense amount of talent to put up good numbers against a poor team. I'm enjoying the win plenty. Had a great time tonight and felt so much better to have a typical game against a creampuff. Loved it. Even then, we didn't look particularly good. Truthfully that might be one of the least impressive 32 point scoring differential performance I've ever seen, if that makes sense. Defense played great, honestly no real complaints there of any kind, and man they have been an optimistic bright spot. That late 4th and goal was awesome. But the offense gave up a needless safety, we had THREE kicks blocked which is just unfathomable, so on and so forth. But, we made some good progress, we played clean with only one penalty which is wildly optimistic, and I very much enjoyed the win. Oh, also, this is the first September game in 3 years and 4 days where we've had the second string in.

  41. I learned a safety is a better kicker than our punter.

  42. I learned that: (1) we are capable of playing four quarters of football (2) our defense is much improved if our offense don’t keep them out there for long stretches of time (3) we really need a good kicker as soon as possible (4) we are not committing many fouls which is impressive (5) our special teams (other than the kicking game) played very well and had two blocked punts. (6) Either Frost makes some very suspect play calls at some stretches of the game or Martinez is unable to execute what Frost is asking...either way, our play calling needs to improve heading to the Ohio state game (7) Frost needs to consider injecting Vedral into the game when Martinez struggles. (8) Honas and Domann are special players (9) First game in a long time that made me hopeful for the future.
