My sources tell me that one of the players tried to claim 80085 as their area code- Coach Frost did not find this humorous and decided to send a clear message.

Yeah it sucks having the most watched early morning college program come to your school to give you amazing publicity so all of the country ( including recruits who have yet to experience Lincoln) can see......

Hopefully this is a let down game for the Buckeyes like the Purdue game last year or the Iowa game the year before.

I get the criticism of Martinez. There are times when he doesn't appear to be the same quarterback as he was last year. Everyone in the stands around us were saying this Saturday night. But then you have a drive like this, the last drive of the first half, and he's decisive, goes through his progressions (especially on the pass to Robinson) and throws strike after strike. I think his issues are all in his head. He needs to stop thinking so much and just let it flow.

Gameday is going to be at Georgia this weekend when they host Notre Dame. Wouldn't they most likely not want to go to ND the week after already being at one of their games?

I'm sorry but while Vedral looked fine, he did not come in on his one drive and look soooooo much better. Some peoples obsession with the back up QB is blinding.

I do find it funny that most of us pretend we hate ESPN and College Game Day...but now we would love it to be in Lincoln. Still the best college football show, hands down.

Well one of the reasons we hire Scott Frost. Should we have lost to Colorado? Nope. Did we? Yep. But here is the difference: In years past Nebraska loses that game to Colorado, just like they did last Saturday, and we hear the coaches quotes, we hear the players quotes, and we are fed to believe things will change, but they never do. It becomes the same thing year after year. We as fans get frustrated that it doesn't seem like there is any true pride in those loses and changes wont happen. But that is where Frost comes in and is different. Why? Because Frost is a Cornhusker, he's a Nebraskan. I think it is clear that many got swept up in the hype train that was created about this team/program that had back to back 4-8 seasons. Bottom line is, there is more of a rebuild going on here than we realize because we got blind sided by the hype that was pushed out. So comes the loss to the Buffaloes, one that leaves us scratching our head, but it shouldn't because that rebuild is still happening. It was a loss that stung, but the difference was, what our head coach was saying after the loss actually had meaning, it felt real, unlike years past. Then comes Northern Illinois, yes it was "just" Norther Illinois, but as Nebraska fans, coming off back to back 4-8 win seasons, there really shouldn't be "Just's". There is no such thing as guaranteed games anymore, and certainly not at this point in this programs rebuild. But what we saw was adjustments, not just by the players, but the coaching staff. We saw improvement by the team and by the coaching staff. Frost realized things needed to change and he changed them. It was refreshing, it was exciting. This year is still early, and my expectations aren't what they were before kickoff of game 1 vs South Alabama. But here is a nice thing to realize, Nebraska already has 2 wins, half way to last years win total and we aren't even in October yet. A bowl game is very well in reach, and again a program coming off back to back 4-8 seasons, a bowl game should be a realistic expectations and move forward from there. Colorado's loss stung, but seeing and knowing the program is changing and our head coach is meaning it is refreshing and exciting. The culture is changing at Nebraska and the payoff is going to be great.

They just announced the kickoff for Ohio State will be at 6:30, with the game on ABC. The Buckeyes will be undefeated and ranked in the Top Ten after they take care of Miami (OH) next weekend. Nebraska will not be ranked, but would be 3-1 if we beat Illinois in Champaign. Two marquee teams. College blue-bloods. It would make for a compelling backdrop for the game. But that begs the question - who else is playing that Saturday? Here's our competition to host Gameday: #1 Clemson plays North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ole Miss travels to Tuscaloosa to play #2 Alabama Texas Tech travels to Norman to play #5 Oklahoma Mississippi State travels to Auburn to play #8 Auburn #9 Florida plays Towson There are a couple of ranked matchups, too: #19 Washington State travels to Salt Lake City to take on #10 Utah #21 Virginia travels to #7 Notre Dame So there's some competition to host. If we beat the hell out of Illinois and look good doing it, I think we have a pretty fair chance to host.

Remember, their goal isn't to cover the game that represents the two highest ranking teams, their goal is to get the most people tuned in. It's hard to find two more involved fans bases that Ohio State and Nebraska. As long as we don't look bad Saturday, I think it will be here.

I personally don't have a major issue with his passing right now. He's around 60% completion percentage, 4 TDs and 2 INTs. There is always room for improvement. Sure, I wish he was more up around 70%....but....oh well. I actually think everyone would be talking a different toon if he was running better. This is where sometimes it baffles me and, I would have thought it would have been even better after he bulked up. There are times when he takes off and it looks like the old 2AM. Then, he'll have a run where it should look like it's easy to get by a guy and he acts indecisive as to where he wants to run and runs right into the tackle. BUT....the talks bout sitting him and playing Vedral is just plain idiotic. It baffles my mind sometimes how the "back up QB" can get in some people's heads. Now, I am encouraged by Vedral's ability in the case of 2AM getting hurt. I don't think we are as thin at QB as what some people think. But....Martinez is our starting QB and there's a reason for that.

Don't be that guy.... The fan base is the only thing that kept this program anywhere close to relevance the past 18 years....

1. WTF kind of gimmicky defense does Eckrich run where they call their DL positions "Ed" and "Di" with only 2 linebackers? 2. Do they even know what position Jojo Domann plays? 3. Why is MSU gray and Illinois dark blue?

On paper, Ohio State has more talent than any team in the country, but the game isn't played on paper. If Frost and company come up with a good game plan and if the players play smart and make plays, Nebraska can absolutely win the game. If Nebraska pulls off the upset, it will be the win that catapults Nebraska into a new era.

What is wrong with JD fielding punts? He already has a TD return this year and is ranked 11th for average return yards. We aren't talking about putting Santino Panico back there. JD is one of the best returners in the country. Why mess with that?

Yeah, I mean I hate Desmond and wish they would replace him but I really like the Gameday show. Some complain about Corso being past his prime but I like Lee and look forward to whatever crazy things he might say or do. He’s kinda like that crazy uncle you find a bit embarrassing but he’s entertaining.

What don't you understand? The offense "looked" smoother, more faster, and more efficient to YOU, however you're not taking into effect that the game was already over with anyway. Did you not see the 80+ yard TD drive in 5 plays and 39 seconds before half time by the first team offense? Was that not "fast" enough for you?

The question right now in my mind is, how much progress can our offensive line make by the time we play Wisconsin? That's the game we really need to win this season. I see things as a question of how high our ceiling is. And I think our offensive ceiling is still very high this year despite seeing some negative things on offense in the first two games. One of the primary things we bring is big play ability. I think our offensive line made some improvements against Northern Illinois. Our receivers are blocking really well, for sure. You generally don't have a guy rush for 100 yards against a team that's gone a year and a half with no 100 yard rushers against them unless you're doing something right in the run blocking department. As lifelong fans, I feel like we tend to approach things (even if it's just subconsciously) as "Frost is back, and we're Nebraska; you either steamroll Northern Illinois for 350 yards rushing or it's a failure." All in all, I'm seeing improvement over week 1.

I’d prefer gameday return to Nebraska when they’re a marquee top ten opponent, and not when they look like a plucky gladiator who may last a little longer against the lions than some. Let’s wait a year or two. They’ll be back on our terms.

It seems like a long time, but we did it five games ago when we held Michigan State to two field goals. We almost did it twice last year, but Bethune-Cookman scored on the last play from scrimmage.

Amen! Honestly, this has a lot to do with the old "Home town boy makes good" theory. There are many Husker fans that want all 22 starters to be from small towns in Nebraska. Low ranked, diamond in the rough types. Shoot, fans still look back at the teams in the 90's and romanticize that most of the players were from Nebraska or that most were walk-ons.

I learned a significant portion of you guys are on crack or something. There is room for improvement for Martinez, but that was an excellent game. Was tentative running like twice and missed a few throws, that's it. Are we just ignoring those errors from last year? Or in other quarterbacks? Nobody goes 25-25 passing, and a few of his incompletions he at least gave the receivers a chance. Go rewatch the games last year and tell me this is significantly worse. It is possible to have a great game with a few bad plays. I'm not that concerned with the line as long as Jaimes is healthy. Being disruptive is NIU's thing, if you get yards on them it's the way we did - big plays offsetting some TFLs. Blame the coaches too if you want, apparently they were in a defense we didn't prepare for we were in 11 personnel, which is usually a lot of the time. This is as disruptive a defense we will play this year. We will play better ones, but we're improving and I think disruptive Ds are the ones with the most potential to shut down a Frost O.

Domann shouldn't be in a rotation; he should be in full-time.

I had the chance to talk to Tommy Frazier a few months after the Fiesta Bowl win against Florida. I said that my favorite part was when "we were whipping the so bad on defense that their coach just had a lost, dumbfounded look on his face." I immediately corrected myself saying "Well, not we, I meant the Husker Defense". He said "No, you're right. The fans are every bit as much a part of the team as the QB, the offensive line and the coaching staff". I'l go with his thought on this personally.

Think Husker fans are frustrated these days? Think about the poor old Fighting Illini. For most teams, a ten win season is considered pretty good. How about if you have ten conference wins... in the last full SEVEN SEASONS like Illinois? In two of those seasons, the Illini did not win a single conference game. One year, they won one game. In the past seven seasons, the Illini are 10 wins and 49 loses for a stunning conference winning percentage of 17 percent. No, the not-so-fighting-Illini should not expect mercy from the Huskers. Games are won and lost on the field. But you know who should get some mercy? Any remaining fans of the Illinois football team... showing loyalty in the face of utter hopelessness. The Huskers still lack real good conference rivalry games since joining the Big 14. “Iowa” is no Oklahoma. Ohio State and Michigan as big opponents just haven’t clicked yet. Teams like Illinois need to get better so the Huskers can develop some great old Big 8-style rivals like they had in the glory days.

He's injured right now but that allowed him to get into town on Friday and spend some more time around the team. He said that he and Slusher loved the visit and had a great time. He has two more OVs to use but doesn't have anything else set up right now.

I loved seeing Rahmir Johnson get a couple carries Saturday night. Can't remember the last time a Husker team had so many decent-to-good players that could rotate in on defense. Pretty good testament to the position coaches on that side of the ball IMO.

They'll get Clemson at some point this year. If it was at Clemson I'd see that as more of a possibility but not sure at UNC They'll get a bigger match-up for their Alabama visit. Possibly Oklahoma but I'd think they'd be waiting for Texas (probably) or TCU (maybe) for them Possibly Auburn but I'd think they'd be licking their chops for Alabama/Auburn so I'm guessing they're waiting on those two Florida/Towson? Probably not. I think the biggest contender is Utah/Washington State. Utah is Top 10 and has a great chance to win the Pac-12. They probably won't play a really high-ranked opponent all year so this might be their best chance to catch them. Unless they wait until Week 10 and catch them at Washington but that week looks like Georgia/Florida right now. They are at Notre Dame/Georgia this week so they won't do Notre Dame two weeks in a row.

So let's play our entire 2nd string for 3 1/2 quarters and see how they fare and then insert the first team offense!
