  1. That's what you got from watching last night? A guy who got 6 carries was the problem? LMAO I sometimes wonder why I come on this board

  2. its pathetic to me that people see us as having other options other than frost. dude, its over. its frosts' to ruin if thats what hes gonna do. i think we'll be fine. but its ridiculous that some of you guys want to play this coaching carousel forevor. thats just dumb. if frost can't do it, nobody can. and i mean that. lets use logic here, folks. if frost leaves, we'll NEVER get back to where we want again. Ever. Quote me.

  3. It's the players. One way or another, it falls on them. Coaches will take responsibility because it's the PC thing to do, but in an honest world it's that locker room.

  4. I got one issue. That’s the offensive lines years of lack of seeming to care about getting owned down after down. I want to see an OLineman give a crap and refuse to get owned and embarrassed.

  5. I just can't get over the cutback. The constant overpursuit by the defense and not staying disciplined...I mean I get that chinander wants an attacking defense but that doesn't mean a mindless one. Felt like watching 01 Colorado...

  6. Blaming the offensive line can be exactly a good enough of an excuse: it's the worst O-line in the 30 years I've been watching Husker football. The G-C-G combo might be the worst in program history.

  7. I think people are forgetting how bare Austin inherited the OL from Cav. Yes, they suck a$$ currently. It’s the second year after they lost 3 former starters and lost a starting C going into last year. Look at the friggin depth they had coming into this year. It takes years to sometimes develop OL/DL into starter material. Of the older guys besides Bando (who isn’t that old himself) WHO is actually worth playing? Look at the youth behind these guys that Austin will have to roll with next year. Depth is coming. But these kids need some S/C and reps first. Benhart, Banks, Anderson, Fritsche, Lynn, Piper & little Farniok. 2020 class: Corcoran (4* OT), Conn (OT 3*)

  8. He wanted to come here, he left everything he had to come here. He uprooted his brand new family in a nice cushy job to come here. He convinced all the contacts he had made in all his time coaching to come here. He lives and dies for this program, he only wants the best for this program. He has the entire backing of just about every historical figure to ever lay a brick to build this place to where it is in that locker room. Clapping and cheering wanting to help in any way they can to bring this place to where it once was. He isnt someone who was hired for just a paycheck, he isnt someone who is going to throw away his morals and values of doing things because the fans are hitting the panic button. Tell me, have you ever seen that, have you ever seen not only almost an entire fanbase drooling at the idea of a coach with so much promise but the backing of the entire foundation to which it was build upon. Im not saying im not frustrated or pissed, but im saying that if there is someone on this planet who gives enough of a dam to do what it takes to bring this place back its him. Im just going to trust that the people who make the decisions know a hell alot more than just sad feeling about what it takes to make this place great again.

  12. Riley didn't hire Diaco. Our AD and a couple of boosters did. Could it be possible that this program would be in better shape had Riley and his staff been left alone? They did go 9-4 prior to Diaco's hiring.

  14. Please stop blaming Vedral or Bunch...we could have had Aaron Rodgers for a QB and he would not be able to get anything done with this horrible atrocious OL. They were pushed all night like little girls. Honestly, they should be ashamed of themselves. How can a QB scan the field when they are running for their lives all game long. Plus our defense looked completely lost and beat. We lost this game for many reasons but the QBs were not the reason. Frost and his coaches have a lot of work to do if we are to get to the toilet bowl.

  15. Have you ever actually worked out? Because I’m so tired of hearing the S&C comments. It takes years to develop players in that department and isn’t done in 1-2 offseasons.

  17. Let me preface this by saying I don't like Frost. Thought he was too inexperienced with head coaching problems and didn't have a handle on football style in the Midwest. Thought he was more of a Turner Gill Mk II choice. That being said... This defense is too slow. The D line is continually being pancaked on running plays. The LBs over pursue every time. Stunts are slow and bring no pressure. The secondary blows coverage with surprising frequency. Good backs beat Nebraska to the edge constantly. The group, as a whole, is undisciplined and has regressed as the season has gone on. There is a QB controversy at Nebraska...you don't have one. Martinez is the best bet but he's gotten gun shy. The O line is horrendous. When your QB is laying on his back with two D linemen on top of him and there are four O linemen standing up looking at the sky, there is a problem. D lines are blowing the Husker O line off their feet. Actually pancaking THEM. That's not how it's supposed to work. Running game is Jekel Hyde...great one play, sucks the next...but then the RB gets crushed and injured and that's the end of the running threat. Receivers...Stoll needs help since he's the only one who can consistently catch a ball but he needs to stay in to block... Other receivers can't get free, drop balls they should catch...but they are good at throwing their arms up and complaining about no pass interference flags. Finally...lots of comments on talent and recruiting. "Look at all our 5 stars! Look at our recruiting class rankings!" Great...then how come the Huskers are getting thumped by 2 and 3 star filled teams? Development maybe? Coaching? How come there are QBs out of Council Bluffs and DM starting for D1 teams with some success yet Nebraska failed to look at them. How does Iowa State get 1000 yard rushers and starting receivers out of Iowa Western when Nebraska doesn't? Not to mention O linemen. But, keep on recruiting those studs out of Florida and Texas. I'm sure they grew up always wanting to play for the Huskers... This comment is for Frost. During the ISU game yesterday, we started our hot shot speed back. Everybody was real high on his talent. First play, he dropped an easy pass. Next play, he tipped an easy pass that WV intercepted for a TD. Campbell replaced him with a freshmen RB the next series. The freshman gained 120 yards. Didn't see the hot shot back again. Campbell will let you earn your chance but if you screw it up, he won't hesitate to replace you. Scott Frost...you really need to consider that.

  18. Riley ran this program into the ground. When weight training is an optional, that is a problem. Culture takes more than 2 years to fix. Plain & simple, we have players who do not care about losing.

  19. The Offensive line should be good next year, I mean the whole interior of the line is in there first year of starting. It takes games not practices to get the unit to mesh and be there best together, plus they are replacing veteran players. When Jurgens gets control of his snaping and stepping to the side, this unit will allow Martinez to be the QB everyone thinks he should be this year just because it is his 2nd year.

  20. Taylor Britt shouldn't have played last night. Dude was out there with one shoulder and he tried to use his left hand to tackle people. Lamar Jackson is the worst shy away tackler I have seen at Nebraska. You and CBS can suck him off but for that love of piss watch the film. Mo Barry overruns more plays than anyone in the past decade. Alex Davis is out there for what reason?? Darrion played his worst game by far and got pushed around. Miller and Honas look like Dedrick Young. What has Bootle done this year? Mix that in with Chinander thinking we were playing Tom Brady last night with 3 DBs way off the ball and you have a disaster waiting.

  21. -Our strength and conditioning was suspect again this week. While this aspect is something that needs time to develop...I don’t see much improvement by the team (Compared to Pre-Season hype). Both lines getting pushed back 3-5 yards every play by Minny, not to mention how our O-line has been manhandled almost every game, doesn’t suggest S&C is taking hold or is effective. Is our S&C legitimately an improvement? If I had to judge based on year 2, I’d say mostly no. -Frost needs to start placing more value on OL and DL commits until both lines are up to snuff, possibly at the expense of recruiting skill for now. In the B1G, you build from the inside out, by sticking the lines with talent and then getting playmakers. I feel we’re doing the same thing we did with Riley (and Bo, to be honest)—going outside in, valuing skill over the trenches. Yes, I know we’ve picked up linemen in our classes. But honestly we should be looking to have a fully stocked two deep on both lines by year 3 or 4. I don’t think we’ll be close to that by even year 5 at this point. -I’ve said this before, but our Sports Psychology department should be looked at. Sports Psychology was an unsung hero of the 90s teams, and we even have some of the same staff from that era willing to come back and help. As it stands now, the department has the same people brought in during the Riley era servicing these kids. While making mistakes and not concentrating is 75% muscle memory and repetition via practice to forget, 25% is straight up mental preparedness to focus and handle adversity (like last night). When we have kids that appear to phone things in after a 14-0 start and can’t get out of their own damn head to get back on track...that’s where Sports Psychology comes into play. Frost has coached these kids on what to do and how to physically execute—but if you’re not mentally focused and prepared...you get what you had last night. -How much confidence do we have in our position coaches and DC? When you have kids making the same mistakes repeatedly ad nauseam, that’s on the DC. When you have a team that uses play action because they have three backs they can bludgeon you with, that’s coaching to make them aware of their tendencies and to watch for play action passing. We have kids playing hard (until we get down—see Sports Psychology) but not smart, and that’s on the DC. -Why do we insist on running offensive Rushing plays with the wrong backs? Mills isn’t an edge guy, he’s a third down, pound it down the middle bruiser, yet he’s asked to run finesse/stretch plays to the boundary and doesn’t get but a couple of yards. Washington is a perimeter threat, yet he’s asked to get 3 or 4 hard yards on third down up the middle, which isn’t his forte. So, you say “we can’t have our RB personnel tipping off the type of running play coming”, which is right. But you *CAN* come up with looks/formations that use both RBs on the field at the same time to keep the defense guessing. It’s what made that I-Formation look so successful when we ran it before. -Frost does care, and he’s going to get this fixed. But it’s going to take time, and he’s a newer coach that’s still learning and will make mistakes. Moos was on point earlier this season by putting our team’s focus on getting to six wins and a bowl game in year 2–he now appears to be a wise sage in what was as a sea of overhyped pre-season derp. Remember—even Devaney went 6-4 a couple of years before he could right the ship, and people were grumbling then. Of course, Devaney had post-game Elk’s Club hijinks to help smooth things over with the boosters...but we need to remember patience. Frost will get it done.

  22. Low point of the Frost era for sure. Even with the 0-6 start, it was year one and things improved from there. This year feels like stagnation with Riley's upper classmen stinking up the joint

  23. 0. Like I mentioned in an other thread...I'd sign him for a life contract. No one out there cares more and knows more about NU, able to coach, than SF.

  24. I'll continue to stand by that Chinander sucks. This MF came out in a 3-3-5 defense tonight and we got ran TF over the whole game. We start 3 SR DL, Mo B is a SR, Davis is a SR, Jackson a SR....where are the excuses for the front 7 getting destroyed tonight? They literally ran 3 plays all game. We also got burnt twice but were lucky they had a drop and an over throw. The alignment and no gap sound defense just drives me insane. Iowa was close to not scoring one single TD in B2B games but was in it till the end vs Penn St and Michigan. A good defense can go a LONG ways. The O-line is the worst I've ever seen at Nebraska, and we are still young on offense. We start 0 SRs once Warner starts for Noa soon. Still no excuses for some of Frost's decisions in play calling. Very disappointed tonight, but I do agree that our O-line makes things very difficult. Austin, what about those rotations? I saw our guards get OWNED all night and we didn't sub one time. I know for a fact that teams would love to have Martinez, Washington, Spielman, Stoll and Robinson on their football team. Time to score some damn points.

  25. I think the announcers felt sorry for Nebraska. Like, honestly deep down sorry. They also didn't understand why the defense was out of position so often, and visibly giving up on plays still in progress. We can talk about the OL all we want, but this team is unfocused in all phases of the game. My friends who root for other teams have teased me over the years when Nebraska loses. They've stopped teasing. They feel sorry for Nebraska, too, because we've veered into the pathetic. I would say this is the bottom, but it's easy to see some more really bad games coming down the road.

  26. - Out matched and lacked physicality - No signs of emotion or energy. Minnesota had players that showed that they wanted to be there. Nebraska not so much - Matt Farniok shouldn’t be a captain. Calls out the center earlier in the week but can’t even touch/block any defender on the fake punt - No jet sweeps with Washington or JD? Why? Never once tried to burn Minnesota on the edges - No wrinkles on Offense and Frost wanted to keep the offense basic. Why? Vedral has been apart of your offense for 3 years. No fear of failure Frost - Oline needs re-evaluated during the bye week - Chinander and Austin need to be re-evaluated once the season is over. No progress in season 3 kick them loose after season 3 is over - Why did it take 3 quarters for the coaching staff to put Kade Warner in? He had the best production for the WR’s today - We’ll be lucky to win 6 games

  34. I keep seeing people give tackle totals, how many of them were near or behind the LOS? Seems like a dubious stat to me. Did they make these tackles after a ten yard run? Seemed like it.

  35. For what it’s worth, last year in year 2 for PJ Fleck (coming from a great season at a G5 school) they went 6-6, (3-6 in the B1G), with a bowl win, and we stomped them last year. Now in year 3 it’s looking likely that they will start the year 8-0. Not saying that will happen for us, and i hate to see Minnesota as the standard we want to follow, but maybe SF will get it going like them, and then eventually push it much further.

  37. Jaimes (average recruit), Hixson (a walk-on), Jurgens (a tight end), Wilson (not 700 player), Farniok (good recruit but he's a guard). Is Raridon that bad? Is Benhart or Piper good enough to play as freshmen? Bando?

  38. Offensive line - garbage Defensive front seven - garbage If anyone was wondering why Martinez was a head case this year, it is because he had ZERO faith in the line protecting him. If I had to worry about getting injured on every play, I'd probably be a nut also. What I can't figure out is how we end last season looking so good to looking so bad this year. Did losing the seniors really drag this team down that much? Right now I don't know if we can beat teams like Indiana, Purdue and Maryland, if we do, it will be very close in all of them. Wisconsin and Iowa are going to destroy us so get it out of your heads that we stand a chance against them.

  43. I don't think Frost has to get rid of anyone. But good lord tonight should be a "Come to Jesus" moment for everyone associated with our program. A cartoon character of a coach, who uses more gimmicks then your local used car salesman, whose had worse recruiting classes then you since you've been at your school - just fisted you on live television. I'd start with: -No more we had a great practice BS, tell the guys to practice hard, but it's not worth s#!t if they have a train run on them on Saturday. -Pull guys who consistently get beat, LOAF, or commit dumb penalties. -Make Davis run til he pukes on Monday, takes a real POS to cheap shot everytime you get down 20, make an example of him. Nebraska fans will fill a stadium every freaking week, pay for 150+ Million dollar facilities, allow for you and your staff to ALL be millionaires - We will be critical, we will have high expectations, but we will support you week in and week out. Time to earn it boys, show us why we're paying you at the top of the B1G.
