  1. I love how in the middle of year 2 of a brand new coaching staff people are apparently already 'done' lol.

  2. I think everyone involved in this process of replacing Pelini and Riley took poor angles. I think fan base, current staff, and others involved(media) have pointed at how bad of shape this program is in because of previous regimes. I think in doing so, we have forgotten that we have players who were recruited by those groups and maybe they are fed up with being the poster boys for lacklusterness. This is why we need to get to an era of only Frost recruited players in a Frost scheme. Until that happens, we don't know really anything about how this program can look.

  3. The lack of specifics on exactly what it means to "buy in" is exhausting. Don't know it there has ever been a topic spoken about more where absolutely nothing new is ever said. Yesterday, Frost spoke about knowing in the morning that guys weren't focused. What in the world could they be doing on a Saturday morning of a night game, in the presence of coaches, that is so unfocused? Did they sleep in? Ate too many cookies? Forgot to wash their socks? This is all just so much talk without any real substance

  4. I really wonder when you say stuff like this do you just not understand reality or are you just hoping others won't? Orgeron is in his 4th year and there was a point in his 2nd year where he lost to troy and I'm sure the LSU fans that are like you thought he was not the right coach and should be gone. He also inherited a team that was not 4-8. Miles didn't leave because he had established poor culture. He left because he couldn't quite get over the hump again to an elite team and they needed fresh blood after a long time there. LSU class ranks: 2015- #5 2016- #2 2017- #7 2018- #15 2019- #5 So even their worst is higher than our best class by a long shot. Hmmm I wonder why he would win with other coaches recruits.

  5. The bottom line is that if guys are not buying in after 2 years and are allowed to continue to play, that is on the staff. If guys are seen not warming up properly ie sweats at Minnie and it is not corrected, that's on the staff. TO have Wan'dale call them out after single handedly trying to win the game should embarrass those guys. If we had a team with he and a few other guys mentality (Luke, JoJo, Noah, JD) we'd be in good shape. Frost gets a pass because he is Frost. That's also the bottom line IMHO. At the end of last year, going 4-2 with no blow out losses, Riley's guys and the culture seemed ok. I know Frost said most of the guys had bought in after Purdue or NW (I can't remember the game). Maybe starting Jurgens over Farniok has caused a rift. Keeping Mo for as long as he did. Maybe guys are seeing the same concerns we have ie play calling (re-rea game threads), some poor coaching decisions (TO to start the half against CU), inability to adjust . Maybe I am player "X" and the guy in front of me is good for a penalty or 3 a game and nothing happens......Crap like that wears on a player. And what game plan doesn't include force feeding the ball to JD as a receiver, RB, Duck R whatever...... Maybe after 2 beat downs, guys are starting to doubt the process. Getting pushed around on the LOS. Last night the announcers made the comment after the Noa strip and fumble that the DL who hustled down showed desire and want to and that was what made that play. Not athleticism..... I remember when Frost made a comment about they know how to win and what works pointing back to UCF. Very true, they have a blueprint, but that was for the AAC......Not the B1G. Before posters jump on, I think FROST was and is the right hire. If he can not do this, no one can. Firing him is not the answer. I look at his staff and I see some inexperience. Ruud, is the ILB's coach.....They are constantly out of position, bite on plays and appear to be a glaring weakness of the 3-4 D......ITS ONLY HIS FIRST COACHING GIG, but they are a glaring issue. Most have only coach in either the AAC or PAC12. Neither known for the smash mouth physicality of the B1G. It's a different league. Bo found out. Fans found out. The players found out and I think Frost has as well. Is he too proud to recognize what works in one spot might not work in another. Can he get that Husker Power he has talked about? Frost does need time. But he also needs to take a hard look at everything around him. The players, staff, methodology, philosophies, schemes etc.... I just expected a lot better product in year 2. I expected a better product after a 2 week bye. For full disclosure, until Noah went down the O was playing great IMHO. The Noah fumble stunk, but play calling, tempo etc looked good. That D though..... I said when Frost was hired he gets the time. And he should. I never said he'd be free of criticism....

  7. Concerning?? Throwing a screen pass on 3rd & 2 when you should’ve !!!Run the dam ball!!! Then you blame the players for finding ways to lose games, that’s concerning.

  10. I’m starting to see Verduzco getting criticism as if he somehow became a bad QB Coach this year. I’m not sure why Martinez is having a sophomore slump, but yesterday his backups went 20/23 for 294, 1 TD & 0 INT through the air and had a combined 19 carries for 97 yds & 2 TDs yesterday. Vedral also made that nice catch from Speilman. They are all in Verduzco’s QB room.

  11. Frost took over a team that had losing seasons in 2 out of 3 seasons before he arrived. He didn't ruin the program. He is the PERFECT fit for our team. If we want to help our program we'll get off his back, show support, and be patient.

  14. The more I think about it, I'm not sure how much it really matters what Frost says in press conferences. The statement was kind of disingenuous though because our offense mustered a good performance. It's pathetic that we allowed Indiana to score more points than they scored against Ball State, Rutgers, and Maryland. Doesn't matter if part of that was bad special teams, a turnover, or whatever the excuse is. We play like an extremely poorly coached and poorly disciplined team - almost every week.

  16. Vedral looked good. McCaffrey looked good. Wan'dales's awesome. Speilman can play for any team. Mills had his moments. Noa had a clutch TD. Somehow the offensive line was responsible for over 500 yards of offense, including 294 yards passing and 220 yards rushing. The trick plays were fun and generally successful. The defense is just awful. It's been this way for years. Because they're so awful, the offense can't afford many empty drives. And it's not simply talent: time and time again, these guys line up out of position, give up far too much cushion, or get no help in the defensive play calling. It's stunning how much time QBs have to pick their spots. Two of those defensive linemen are prize Pelini recruits and three year starters. The other is Frost's much heralded senior transfer from Oklahoma State. Although it never sounded right to me, Big10 watchers and scouts also thought Jackson and Bootle were worthy of NFL draft consideration a few weeks ago. Also: we're getting famous for making zero adjustments at halftime, while other teams figure out ways to exploit us. Also: attitude. This team needs one. That's on coaching, too. So no matter what some here might say (hi TheSker!) Frost and staff should be taking some heat for this team's performance. It's not "hot seat" heat, and I can't imagine not giving Scott a solid 5-7 years, but they need to do something different, and blaming the talent is a sh!tty place to start.

  17. We have a QB controversy. We’re wondering which QB is able to play.

  18. I agree on Jurgens being a work in progress and he will hopefully get better. We have 16 scholarship OL with 1 hurt senior, 4 Jrs and the rest So. and Fr. Minnesota has 15 scholarship OL with 0 seniors, 4 Jrs and the rest So. and Fr. Wisconsin has 14 scholarship OL with 1 senior, 2 Jrs and the rest So. and Fr. Penn State has 15 OL guys on scholarship with 1 Sr, 3 Js and the rest So. and Jrs. Those are some of the top teams in the B1G and are no different then we are with OL. I think people like to blame them which is warranted some but to say we are inexperienced is wrong.

  25. instant gratification?? this "massive rebuild" has been going on for 18 years through 5 coaching regimes...hardly "instant gratification" sounds more like insanity...keep doing the same thing expecting a different outcome...

  26. Wow...we are definitely living in times of instant gratification. I am a new member as far as posting...have been reading posts for some time now...but after reading this post..I just had to sign up so I could comment. Yes..this season in disappointing based on the expectations we all had coming into this year..I admit..I drank the koolaid and predicted a nine win season...but so called fans throwing in the towel ..giving up season tickets..in season two of a massive rebuilding project is beyond me. So go ahead..step aside and turn in your tickets...there are dozens of people lined up behind you to pick up the slack.GBR

  27. Our defenses at the time were based out of the old 5-2 and we could handle anything in the Big 8 until it came time for OU and even then the 5-2 was not a disadvantage. Our D line was always very strong and well disciplined, like Wisconsin of today. However when it came time to play the Bowl game against a national opponent our lack of speed got exposed. The low point for me was the (1991?) bowl against GT where we pretty much got drubbed, it actually reminds me of yesterdays game. Yes flags flew at half staff a few years earlier after Miami blanked us but it was MIAMI. But it still hurt. They switched to the 4-3 defense and REALLY stressed pressure coming off the edge. They would line up one or two linebackers at the line so you could not tell if they were coming on a blitz or backing up into coverage. The thing was whenever a high flying team tried that 30 yd pass there was always a dude in red right on him, swatting that ball down. Our man coverage 1993-1995 was just outstanding. They saved multiple scores just by being right on the dude. I can"t even count the times one of our little D backs would sky at just the right moment and knock that ball away just as it was getting to the receiver's hands. It seemed the motto was "You Get Nothin'!" Also though , those boys played physical our safeties hit so hard across the middle they would be ejected today and we would be flagged for some of our QB hits as well. And that is not an idictment of the old team as much as it is to say how the game sucks now. In fact the game is in some weird grey area now between real football and ultimate frisbee. If you never experienced the game back in the 90's you probably don't understand. When the Safeties, linebackers, and D ends are allowed to Hit the game of football gets faster. It has to because as a offensive player if you know that guy is going to clean your clock, you play lower and get down faster. You go over the middle quicker. You run the ball more to take pressure off that QB. There were also less commercial breaks, way less flags usually, and the game was just more enjoyable to watch. With these multi-million dollar pro quarterbacks I think they want to go toward no hitting of the QB at all. But if you do that you might as well just go toward 7 on 7 passing league, QB can't run. These contrived "targetting" penalties have really changed the game for the worse in my view. Like light beer or guar gum ice cream.

  33. I think that - graded on a curve of starting his backup QB and then his third string redshirt freshman playing half the game - this might have been Frost's best offensive game. He took a team that only managed 7 points in our previous game, prepared them for everything we'd need to be successful, and put up 31 points on the board. That's impressive. Our defense f****** sucks hard. That's really all there is to it. So tired of all of the blaming of the Riley recruits who are clearly giving an effort out there. Their coaching blows, and the scheme they're asked to execute is nothing more than a Bob Diaco defense.

  35. I'm not a big fan of watching football in a stadium, much prefer watching with fans in a bar while eating a steak dinner and drinking a sarsparilli, but God bless you yellers who like that stadium atmosphere. My favorite live sporting event would be at the basketball arena. You may be quitting on football too soon though. What I'm seeing is fixable and the younger players look much more inspiring. Frost might have some tough choices to make though if his staff doesn't catch on. Enough of blaming the players for lousy coaching and unworkable schemes that change like the weather.

  37. Not enough plus ones for this. FOR THOSE WHO THINK ITS THE KIDS.......TWO WEEKS AGO the man in charge didn't like the team warming up in sweats. Today, Daniels had to get onto the team. WTF have you and the staff been doing the past two weeks! Seriously man, that's on you a s a HC. You control the culture. You control the narrative. Sit guys. Start the true freshman. Hold them accountable. Tell them to strip off the sweats and get ready to get after it. That's also part of coaching.....You think Damian Jackson gives 2 sh!ts about the cild? Pretty sure he'd have the staff's back...... It's like as a parent telling your kids not to do it... again....and again....and again...and again. The kid eventually realizes there's no consequences and starts running the house. The comments from Wan'dale, a true fresh, calling guys out. Dudes who are down with the program, lose respect for the staff when they see other guys starting who half a$$ everything with no fear of crap. Frost needs a McBride. Some one to yell, curse and threaten to get the guys in line. Hard to have an effective Unity Council when the staff doesn't hold them accountable....

  39. What I learned... Big 10 West is a joke Big 12 is a mess PAC12 is irrelevant Don't have a clue why we have to put up with the stupid "Who's In" commercials. Everybody knew who was in from Day 1. The same four that are in every year. The NCAA needs to get rid of the stupid BCS Playoffs cuz if you aren't a descendant of Stonewall Jackson or from Ohio...no one cares. oh...and the Big 10 has some of the worst looking mascot outfits in the world. The Wisconsin Badger looks more like a weasel, if you step on the foot of the Hawkeyes mascot, his helmet opens and you can throw your trash in, the Nittney Lion looks like it was locked in a closet and attacked by moths. The Buckeye is worst though...it looks nothing like a buckeye and, furthermore, why would you have a mascot who is just an inedible nut that falls out of trees and rots on the ground? Other than that...bring on basketball.

  42. I learned that this board has some terrible takes. It cracks me up.
    3 points
  43. So much this. NU is not a team completely devoid of talent. A lot of teams have coaching changes and still manage with another guys recruits. I understand and will continue to use the square peg/round hole argument for some issues. BUT the fundamentals are the same regardless of scheme/concepts. Tackling, holding onto the ball, vision of the RB, lesson penalties, lining up correctly etc....We fail in a lot of the basics that kids learn from the jump. Frost's own success came from not only someone else's players, but from developing those guys into several NFL draft picks to include Shaqueem Griffin who he turned into a superstar. I can't believe that there is not someone on this roster that can't fill that role....Maybe not to that success, but damn.... IMHO, I really think Frost and Co were naive to a degree and had a false sense of the success at UCF and under estimated the B1G. The B1G has a lot of experienced coaches and multiple Blue Blood programs, not to mention rosters full of blue chip kids ie OSU, Michigan, PSU etc... TO sought out Bobby Bowden. No doubt he will seek out some advice. Frost isn't stupid and ha been around some of the greatest coaches. I'm confident he will get answers. Might not be what he wants to hear though....Staff changes/scheme changes/player changes etc...
