  1. There is no way the bolded can be anybody's actual opinion

  2. Oregon State has long had better coaches and played against much tougher rivals than N. If you played in the Pac 8-10-12 with your coaching and recruiting you would have a worse track record and a more realistic view of your place in college football as a has been. Jonathan Smith is OSU's scott frost, and has them looking better every week. N not so much. Proof would have been obvious by now if frost was the real deal, but keep hoping for next year.

  5. So I would assume the "family friend" is somehow tied to OSU in some way...right? Oh wait, his tweet said he has known this person the summer BEFORE his freshman year...oh, so definitely a family friend in the truest sense, no OSU ties here...lol

  6. I really want to believe you, but then Martinez takes the snap, a linebacker is immediately in the back field, he then rolls to the right with his eyes only focusing on Robinson out of the backfield, he then awkwardly scrambles back to the left, then looses 2 yards. 2nd down and 12, I then look at the floor and yell, WHAT THE f#&%, and it proceeds that way for the next few hours.

  7. Nebraska "enjoys" a bye week this week and, meanwhile, Oregon State will be at home against Washington. The Huskies are favored and should roll, but, here is the thing... Oregon State is coming off a record evening win on the road at Arizona, 56-38. Washington might come in hung over after they let one get away against Utah. Washington looked like it had it in the bag. Here's what's sad, Oregon State doesn't have to beat Washington to do what Nebraska can't. They already have done that. And they could add more. The Beavers have four games left, including the game Saturday. Assuming a loss to Washington (and I ask for this humbly as it would be a stinging wound to see otherwise) the Beavers would then play Arizona State and Washington State, two middle of the road teams, before closing with imposing Oregon in the Civil War game, which is dominated by the Ducks. This is the second year of a new coach at Oregon State, and he appears to be doing slightly better than Nebraska. What a crock! This is why we are nervous around here. This should not be happening. Oregon State has been a train wreck. Despite that fact OSU has won its last two on the road.... back-to-back no less. Nebraska has one road win in the Frost tenure. Just one. If Oregon State wins against Arizona and Washington State, they'll go bowling. We likely won't. These are the moments that I just have a hard time seeing what's happening with Nebraska and believing its going to get any better. I am NOT calling for jobs for two reasons. 1. What coach would do well here given that we have had three coaches in a five-year stretch? That's a major recruiting disruptor. And... 2. I am so tired of the fire and hire cycle and the patience bull crap and so forth. I am trying to work my head around the idea that the Husker program I have identified with for my entire lifetime... I was born in the 70s, is GONE and may NEVER come back.

  12. ^This. Just because I am critical on this staff or any other doesn't mean I or anyone else is a bad fan. I am a die hard fan of my team. I do not follow them because of a coach. Frost is just a huge plus. I cheered as loud and passionately for TO losing bowl after bowl, as I did for Solich going 7-7 and then the dark years of Cally, Bo (really thought he'd turn it around), Riley (had to google who the hell he was) and finally Frost. Frost has garnered loyalty/credibility because of who he is and what he accomplished at NU. A direct link to TO.....I was just hoping for more success and less regression.

  13. Iowa is going to kick our butts which really sucks living in Iowa. The local media really loves Nebraska's struggles. One station did a poll this week on which was more of a train wreck, Nebraska football or Nebraska basketball.

  14. Q&A with Nebraska great Tommie Frazier: On Scott Frost, college sports today and his decision to speak out Some of you won't be able to read this ($$) but it's a pretty good interview with Tommie. He thinks Martinez is pressing, but he's also not getting any help from the O-line, receivers, etc. He thinks HCSF needs to be his own HC and not try to be Tom Osborne. He also thinks college athletes are spoiled and it makes them soft. And a last tidbit for @teachercd: Willie Taggart was Frazier's backup in high school and Sherman asked him about Taggart getting fired:

  15. It almost begs the question, if a coach at Oregon State can do more with less, what could he do at Nebraska with having more.

  16. I don't think it's stupid at all. Had the boosters left things alone, Diaco would never have lived in Lincoln. Think of the 2017 season, what was the biggest problem? Riley or Diaco's matador defense? That team would have gone bowling with Banker as the DC IMHO. Last season would have been Gebbia throwing to Spielman, Tyjon Lindsey and probably Isiah Hodgins and Jamire Calvin. The hiring of Diaco set a lot of things in motion. None of them good.

  17. I love to consider myself a student of the game (who doesnt, right?) When I look at football games, I look at things away from the ball. How are the linemen run blocking? Who is constantly getting overpowered in one on one matchups? Who is getting open consistantly? Is your QB making his reads consistantly? How is the RPO game working? (this one irritates me) Who isn't scared to come up and run fit? I try to see the positives and negatives in every game, and then put a mental list together. Are they still making bone-headed penalties? No, that got cleaned up in last years pre Bethune-Cookman game. I've seen a marked improvement there, yes. Still some unfortunate penalties at bad times (See Wandale's called back TD in the first half last week), but they're making a lot less "stupid" penalties. To be honest, I knew this team was having issues after the Colorado game. Washington's run should have lifted them up, but once they got hit with that flea flicker, I was like, "Who pressed the self destruct button, darnit?!?" You want to put games away, and that takes a killer instinct that Nebraska teams have lacked for YEARS now, at this point - on both sides of the ball. When I see that come back, then I'll look at this team differently.

  19. Oregon State in total offense ranked dead last in Pacific 12 prior to Smith arriving. Two seasons later they're 4th in conference in total offense and scoring offense. We've dropped from 7th in Riley's last lame duck season to 9th two years later in scoring offense. Personally I would like to see where our offense would be right now under Riley and with all the players that he recruited. Gary Anderson left Oregon state near the bottom of nearly every statistical category. So how has Smith turned them around so quickly? Why are they scoring so many points and winning on the road? They won at cu last year, we couldn't beat cu at home last year or on the road this year after they entirely changed staffs and systems. I still think had we supported MR we would be in a much stronger place right now. But we didn't, so instead of complaining about coaching in a last minute road WIN at Purdue, we're defending choaching in a loss to Purdue.

  23. I can never tell if posts like these are from people who are actually die hard Bo supporters or if it's just lamenting the fact that we're currently so far from playing even just "good" football right now (referring to the 9 win threshold thing). Bo came to a place where he just couldn't beat Wisconsin. Objectively, demonstrably, he couldn't do it. And that final blowout where Melvin Gordon stomped us into the snow in Madison was it for me. I don't know if Frost will ever even be as good as Bo. It's possible that he won't and it's possible that we'll fire him after year 7 of his contract. But I'm glad we went down a course of trying something different because those Wisconsin blowouts were pitiful.

  25. On another subject, did you listen to her being questioned? She literally said something like "this has been a problem the entire time in our administration...." Really??? OUR administration? I got news for you....YOU did not get elected and YOU don't even have a specific title nor position. But...yet it's YOUR administration? Man that pissed me off.

  28. "This season has been an implosion. I didn't see it coming at all." Those of us who worried about that and expressed that worry were seen as some sort of non-Real Husker fans. I am no NO expert on any football, and not on Husker football. But I have gotten aware of a culture change here at Nebraska. It's a true culture of finding a way to lose most games. It's a flip-flop of what it should be which is of course finding a way to win most games. The criticisms of Frost should start at him not seeing that and saying it and reacting to it successfully.

  33. I think Scott Frost is his own toughest critic, and he knows better than we do what needs to be done to bring this program to new heights. All this talk about who to blame is fairly meaningless, considering there's no way in hell we're firing Frost anytime soon

  36. I think it goes directly what I said in the “what did we learn” thread immediately after the game. Our team cant put it together at the same time. Then Frost himself said as much in his presser a couple hours later. If we get 125yds (of our 500) and 65% completion after turnovers/blocked punts we win easily. If our D holds on 1 of 3 drives we win ugly. Once our O actually compliments our D and vice versa we won’t be up 14-3 or 17-0 we’ll be up 21 or 24-3. Just gotta put it ALL together, even for 2 quarters. BTW, I appreciate all you stat geeks looking this stuff up, it just confirms my personal eye test. So thanks for digging stuff up!!

  37. Yeah, that's how time works (unless you're traveling faster than light). The 70s are indeed gone and are never coming back, as are the 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s, and the few seconds I spent reading what appears to be a desperate cry for help.

  38. I do think the three games back to back to back with Minnesota, Indiana and Purdue make it hard to stay engaged this year. We should have at least won two of those games. And, had we done that, we would be improving upon a bowl qualifying record of 6-3 and eyeing 8-4 or at least 7-5. The losses mean we have to beat either Wisconsin or Iowa just to go bowling and, as we know, the feel of 4-8 is real. How can you be looking forward to that? I am glad it's a bye week. Looking forward to watching college ball without having to worry what's going to happen in Memorial Stadium this Saturday.
