  1. Where are all the new commits? I need someone else to commit to play football at Nebraska. The pace of getting a new guy every 10-12 hours got me addicted to recruiting. Now, I'm going through withdrawals.

  2. @Redux: You are one of Huskerboard's most lovable characters in so many ways. I might even dare to say that @Redux is a treasure! However, the P&R forum has never really been your element. Over the years, you have dipped your toes into a P&R thread every once in a while, which is wonderful, but you have a tendency, once you are presented with facts or asked to provide your own facts to support of an opinion, to play the victim, leave the thread, and complain about it in the Woodshed. This is nothing new. For some reason you have committed to this Biden conspiracy moreso than other attempts to engage in political discussion. Which is totally cool if you are willing to back up your views with evidence. Or if you don't have actual evidence and are just giving an opinion, that's fine, but you should support your opinions with logic and reasoning based on the evidence. No one on this board like Joe Biden. If he exited the race, most of us would be happy. But for you to say that he is guilty of something, especially something of equal magnitude of Trump's crimes, begs for some sort of actual evidence, knowing that your opinion flies in the face of intelligence agencies, government experts, and professional journalists who have already looked into it. Your manner of political debate is not conducive to an otherwise informed discussion on the topic. I haven't weighed in on this topic lately because I haven't had anything intelligent to add that already hasn't been posted, and smarter posters than I have already provided a lot of good info. I would only look foolish if I jumped into a thread and started up with conspiracy theories and parroted conservative radio talking points without having any supporting evidence. Same with your Tulsi Gabbard bit. Believe what you want, but try to lay out an argument in which you use facts and evidence to form a reasonable conclusion. That's what we should all do with any argument, and our opinions, whether they be liberal or conservative, should be informed by the facts and evidence.

  4. I think the appeal is he’s not a Democrat. Sadly, the country (especially in the Midwest and rust belt, IMO) is full of minimally educated, blue collar type workers who have an enormous disdain for democrats. They are easily manipulated and adore blowhards like Hannity, Carlson and Limbaugh which, among other factors, make it nearly impossible for them to approach politics with an open mind.

  5. I just read the 35 pages worth of the Miami message board about his signing day drama...all I got out of it was nobody wants to go to Nebraska, bags, Scott Frost sucks, cornfields, bags, Miami coaches are a joke, bags, he’s a drama queen and they didn’t want him, and finally that Miami pulled his offer right before it started and that’s what started the hour delay. Gave his family time to change into Nebraska gear. I have a headache after reading their board. Bags

  7. None of that stuff matters to Trump supporters. They love their guy. His appeal is that he is an unabashed a$$h@!e in everything he does, and a racist. Think of it this way: When JFK first ran for president, we had never had a Catholic prez before, no one thought he would win. But the Catholics loved him. They got "their guy." When Obama came along as the first black nominee, the African American community had "their guy." (that is not to say JFK and Obama didn't win on their own merits, and I am a big Obama fan, but there are certain segments of the population that would stick with JFK and Obama no matter what). So when Trump came along, all the a$$h@!es and racists in America (and there is a hell of a lot of them) said, "that's our guy!" They finally got one of their own in the White House, when previously being a racist a$$h@!e was bad for one's political fortunes. Since racist a$$h@!es have someone like themselves as President, they are fiercely loyal. In addition to ignoring the bad stuff Trump does, they also embrace much of it, because well, they are a bunch of a$$h@!es.

  10. Correct. Incorrect. This is the distinction you've had explained to you many times but are somehow unable to understand. Yes, Biden wouldn't give them aid unless they fired the prosecutor. But no, it was not connected to Burisma. The prosecutor was not prosecuting Burisma at the time, and despite youtube videos and Glenn Beck making up accusations with no evidence, there is no corroborated claim that Burisma was involved at all. Only hearsay. I don't know how you can spend weeks not being able to understand the difference between assertions that have evidence and testimony and those that have none. The hell does Obama have to do with any of this? Why are you extrapolating some nonsense nowhere close to what anyone has ever expressed? For someone who whines incessantly about being mislabeled you're remarkably good at taking someone else's argument and turning it into something much grander and more wide reaching than the person ever communicated. I don't think you're a Trumper. Genuinely. But it's pretty clear you have zero literacy when it comes to processing actual news and reliable information. You aren't thinking for yourself; at all. You're being fed absolute gaslighting nonsense and you're eating it up despite many people's repeated efforts to try and lay out good fact checked and corroborated information.

  12. Really look at this... 1. Worked his a$$ off to get here and did it 2. Smoked/had weed (literally no one cares) 3. Had a pic/video of an old GF that was naked or making love 4. Was mad/upset that he didn't get the ball more Assuming that is everything...well...it is not really a big deal. (All you SJW's relax on the child porn stuff, we all know that is not what it really is) Every guy on the team that is not starting and/or getting TONS of play is mad (that is how it works) They all smoke weed/drink (All you stat geeks, please realize I know that not ALL OF THEM smoke and drink) I think you sit him down and you yell at him, kids like him respond to that, you say "You are a moron, you know that, right?" and he will agree, and then you ask "Do you want to be here, for real, do you want to be part of this or do you think you would be better leaving" he will be honest...if he says "yes" you say "Tell me what boundaries you need..." and he will say "I don't know" Then you say..."Here is what I propose..." and you lay it out.

  13. If there was ANYTHING behind Biden/Burisma, wouldn't it have been investigated when Donald Trump controlled the WH, Senate, and House? If there was ANY CREDIBLE EVIDENCE, wouldn't Donald Trump's corrupt hand-picked Attorney Generals jump at the opportunity to investigate (and leak it against DOJ policy)? Doesn't the fact that none of that happened only further demonstrates there was nothing there (other than bad optics)? That is why he sent his personal attorney on a covert black propaganda operation, against US foreign policy and national security. EDIT: Devin Nunes was running the House Intelligence Committee, for Christ’s sake!

  14. No....just no..... You are absolutely totally missing the context to which both actions were taken. It's been explained over and over again and you totally ignore it.

  15. Yet again, another wasted attempt to try and explain the facts behind why these situations are different and there is not even a remote suspicion of criminal or illegal behavior on the part of Biden. Biden withheld aid to Ukraine unless Shokin was fired. Trump withheld aid to Ukraine and a White House meeting unless they announced an investigation into Biden. However, both situations are very different from each other. The context behind each matters, and to think of them the same is a logical fallacy known as a false equivalency. Biden acted in his role leading U.S. diplomacy towards Ukraine, and at the wishes of his boss and also of at least a dozen other countries, who all agreed that Shokin was a corrupt and/or incompetent prosecutor who they wanted fired because he wasn't prosecuting criminal activity. Biden's demand was the will of the U.S. government, informed by foreign policy analysts, and supported by several other Western countries togethere. There is no evidence that Biden was motivated by or acted because of trying to protect his son. It's not impossible that that is true, but there is no evidence that it is true. There is also no evidence that Shokin was investigating Biden's son. There is evidence that the Burisma investigation actually stopped and went quiet under Shokin. Trump acted in his role as the President, but only for the wishes/desire/support of himself. According to House Democrats, Trump's request actually subverted U.S. foreign policy towards Ukraine and undermined national security. There is lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of evidence that Trump was motivated by his personal desire to seek dirt on or damage the campaign of a political rival. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/29/business/media/fact-check-biden-ukraine-burisma-china-hunter.html https://www.factcheck.org/2019/09/trump-twists-facts-on-biden-and-ukraine/ https://www.politifact.com/facebook-fact-checks/statements/2019/dec/10/facebook-posts/social-posts-falsely-connect-trumps-impeachment-bi/ https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2019/may/07/viral-image/fact-checking-joe-biden-hunter-biden-and-ukraine/ https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2019/nov/11/rand-paul/rand-paul-said-trumps-actions-related-ukraine-were/

But the other guy was not doing it and poof! Six points. The only trick was that Luke McCaffrey isn't riding excuses. He showed up.

  18. A perfectly graceful, human response from a women who - let's say this again - is defending her DEAD HUSBAND from being mocked by THE PRESIDENT. Sad this even needs to be said. It is only so because the president is so fundamentally indecent. Anyone who defends this is vile. This isn't me supporting Democrats or Debbie Dingell in general. This is supporting decency.

  20. This got discussed previously at some point: I don't think Luke played a single snap where he had to stand in the pocket and throw. He was used as a stop gap guy when he did see action and was practically a wildcat back. He had that roll out TD throw to Noa against Indiana. Against Iowa, the entire defense swarmed down towards him leaving Spielman wide open. So he made a couple really great TD throws on a couple plays but I don't feel convinced he could have taken over the starting job and ran the entire playbook successfully. Maybe that's not the point you were making...but many others in this thread have.

  21. Why are you such a bitter person? You think everyone is out to get you. You complain about people on welfare and you complain about people who work for a living because they get better benefits than you. You complain about “socialist” policies that would actually help you. What do you not complain about?

  22. Because the Republican party has voluntarily made itself a hostage and is suffering from some impenetrable Stockholm Syndrome. Trump has rendered useless our checks and balances by successfully coopting the Republican party and convincing those in power on that team that there is no depth of impropriety or immorality or incompetency or corrupt behavior that is too low to follow him to or to be ok with and overlook for the sake of maintaining power.

  28. The list of grievances against Donald Trump and his family of grifters is so long that we can hardly stop to take stock in any single offense. Which is why you can't give the apologists and enablers a piece of red meat like this. We can try to measure our false equivalencies, but the wildly unqualified son of a sitting vice-president sitting on the the board of a corrupt foreign interest under his father's purview sure ain't nothing. It may fall short of illegal, but so do most of Trump's corrupt and unethical choices. I don't just want Donald Trump out of office as soon as possible, I want him to take the brain dead GOP down with him. I could not be more vested in that outcome. But when Americans see Democrats clutching their pearls about Ukraine corruption, claiming they don't hate the President, claiming they even pray for him, they know they're lying. In other words, I'd like the alternative to Donald Trump to be a lot better than they currently are. "Not as bad as Donald Trump" may be true, but it's weak sauce and not particularly inspiring to the new and non-voters who will decided the next election.

  33. It's funny how people repeatedly posting links to articles explaining how your accusation against Biden is wrong is, to you, people "throwing shade." You came into this conversation expecting to have trouble, and you steered it into exactly the kind of conversation you expected, mostly by ignoring facts as presented to you. And now you're playing the victim. Nobody cares anymore. Go cry wolf somewhere else.

  34. Sun Tsu has a thing or two about strategy. Maybe Adrian should read up on it about. Sleight of hand is modus operandi for a QB. It is pretty much a standard practice in competition to deceive and confuse the opponent. Luke and the Noahs all figured it out. Tristan before that had figured it out. But our only go to at QB has not. That and the turnover thing. We won't win championships with a Mr. Turnover running the show.

  36. How many times do we need to go over this? Biden did what he did with the approval of everyone in our government, international community, and the lender of the funds Biden held. Firing Shokin was universally seen as a necessary move to stop corruption in Ukraine. If Trump held the funds with approval of congress to pressure Ukraine to fire a corrupt prosecutor, he wouldn't be going through this. He would have actually accomplished something for our country and people would have congratulated him. What he did was something completely different..
