  1. Thanks for clarifying a few things, Mr. Watts. Best of luck to your son at ND!

  2. The GOP would lambast Jesus as a radical liberal terrorist from a $h!thole country who needs to go back where he came from. Trump would host a rally, mocking him for being so skinny and encouraging Pontius Pilate to rough him up a little.

  3. You sound like his dad who got real mad on Twitter this week when someone suggested Betts was a better WR than Watts (which is a fact - like the earth being round).

  4. Did he try and granny shot his free throw attempts cause I wouldn't blame Frost one bit if he pulled the offer for that weak crap.

  5. To expound on the LSU stories, word is former Nebraska coach Bill Busch - also a former player at Nebraska Wesleyan and current LSU safeties coach who recruits California JUCOs for the Tigers - really wanted Mauga but they were full at LB. So he reached out to Barrett Ruud and told him we should look at Mauga. Finding Mauga late and getting in the door with Greene meant we didn't have a spot for Hodge.

  6. Since this thread is primarily about the two guys who were kicked off the team for horrendous sexual misconduct and not really about the transfer portal in general (even thought the thread title does not specify), it doesn't feel right including Isaiah Stalbird's transfer in this thread. Stalbird overcame a lot of personal/family adversity just to get where he is, then worked his tail off to get playing time as a walk-on before finally landing at a school where he will hopefully get an opportunity to shine. His story is quite the opposite of Hunt and Legrone. I just felt that needed to be stressed. Hope he is successful.

  7. I’m not trying to justify what he did but once again, let’s not sit here and pretend this was some creepy old man with a video of a minor. He was ONE year older than her. Pretty much no teenager is going to be thinking that a video of a girl ONE year younger than them is going to be child pornography

  8. Down playing that one quite a bit... pretty sure it wasn't the possession of the video as much as it was the sending part...

  9. He's an amazing kid, a born leader, friends with every type of kid and a over 4.0 GPA kid that scored super high on the ACT. The flat earth thing is a running joke around Burke right now. He committed to Notre Dame for the relationships and networking after college because he is aware the chances of making it pro are low and wanted to set himself up for the rest of his life. Not because of what brand of uniform they wear. He doesn't care about those type of things. You guys don't know the kid. This was a miss, no doubt about it.

  13. I think Jesus would be at the boarder speaking about the immigrant & our responsibility to help the stranger in our land, at the abortion clinic visiting one on one wt the troubled lady debating if she should keep her child, also encouraging the young lady at the crisis pregnancy center who is trying to plan her future with her new baby, he'd turn over the offering buckets at many of the mega churches (looking at you Joel Olsteen, etc), he'd be calling out politicians and religious people who give lip service to justice but line their pockets on the backs of the poor, he would address the 1%ers by asking them to give their riches, serve the poor and follow him (and like the example in the Bible - they would walk away because they had only one master - money). Helping out at the food pantry and visiting the local hospital and showing appreciation to today's healers - doctors & nurses, etc. He would also say again "Those not against us are for us" - so let them continue their good works even if they aren't walking directly with us.

  15. LMAO great comeback, kid. (That's from Scott Pilgrim, which is a Canadian comic, not anime.) By the way, you still haven't explained WTF was going through that little brain of yours when you said that. By almost any measure, Spielman was easily our top receiver this year. He had about twice as many receiving yards as anyone else on the roster. He had as many receiving touchdowns and almost as many receiving yards as the next three guys (Wan'Dale, Stoll, and Noa) combined. And he's probably going to graduate as Nebraska's all-time leading receiver. Now what, pray tell, makes you think that "Frost clearly favors his guys and jd isnt going to be a focal point of the offense as we saw from this year"?!

  16. We landed 4 pretty badass WR's this class. I personally wouldnt take him over any of those 4. But I am not a talent evaluator.

  18. Nebraska had 10 4* commits. The rest of the B10 West had 14 combined... We are getting higher end players but we did fill in a lot of spots with really low rated players (mostly jucos) where they had stronger 3* I feel the gap was wider this year for us but didn't translate in the ratings.

  19. Not sure if this report is based on actual evidence or just speculation but it sound like Williams could have signed in November if he wanted to but decided not to. Possibly to see what else Nebraska was going to do with this class which is understandable. And he was supposedly looking for some assurance that he'd get a chance to have an immediate impact. But when he didn't sign, the coaches ramped up recruiting again as if he wouldn't be part of this class. Which is about the time I posted a note about more rumblings about Teddy Allen. The relationship pretty much headed south at that point and obviously he ended up decommitting after Allen committed. Again, there is a bit of speculation in all that. But a lot of stringing facts together as well. But that sure makes it sound like he had a chance to sign and didn't. Once he passed up his chance, the coaches might not have really seen him as a commit anymore.

  20. Thought he was a miss at the time. Now, I am not so sure. What WR would you replace with Watts? Not a knock on him either, but a compliment to the kids we brought in.

  21. He's a kid. Get off him. He could still believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny if he was catching touchdowns for all I care. Some of you all have political beliefs that I think are very close to flat earther.

  22. I am shocked we had another disappointing season then closed left and right on prized recruits. No way did I see this being a top20 class. Fortunately I was dead wrong. Just imagine what this staff can do if we actually start winning.

  24. Well, if this is considered "facts" like some of you love to hang your hat on...a lot of posters need to post a good old "s#!t, I was wrong, I am a jump-to-conclusions" kinda guy. Just kill her...it is so simple in cases like this.

  25. Recruiting rankings by rivals for coaches in their classes. Please note that the first class for each coach was one of their worst because it's a transition class. Callahan - 27th. 5th 20th 13th Classes were a bit uneven. 2005 had some notable players. He had a staff that could recruit but results on the field were not trending up. Pelini - 30th 28th 22nd 15th 25th 17th 32nd Pelini's numbers weren't great to start out but he was improving slowly for awhile. 2012 was a bit of a speed bump and 2014 was meltdown. Riley 31st 24th 20th Riley was improving slowly but surely. His record didn't though. Frost - 21st 15th So Frost did pretty well in the transition class and also posted the 3rd best class in the past 15 years or so. I think it is important to see some wins on the field next year. That should help 2021. I think it's looking good as a positive trend. Hope they get a top 10 in 2021.

  28. I'm finally caught up with episodes 6 and 7, so some updated thoughts. Episode 6 felt like episodes 4 and 5 but with different characters. Overall, there didn't feel like a ton of valuable storytelling here. Episode 7 was good and seemed like a natural progression of where this season was going to end up, but it makes episodes 4-6 feel even more confusing. Why was THAT the path we chose to get here? To not really address the overall plot through three episodes, all while sort of rehashing the same story elements time and again, is a bit maddening. Some of the performances are disappointing. Gina Carano (Cara Dune) over-exaggerates her acting, Natalia Tena (Xi'an, the Twilek) was awkwardly weird and Carl Weathers is... well... I'll just say his role as a bad acting coach in Arrested Development feels a tad ironic now. To @knapplc's, I'm having sort of a hard time trying to figure out how seriously this show wants to take itself.

  30. This is another good article on the 4 and 5 star debate. A few tidbits. https://www.bannersociety.com/pages/blue-chip-ratio-2019 Good data to go off of and essentially, if we can get to that 50% mark things are much more likely to happen championship wise for the team.

  31. Crazy that someone currently extremely close to the program did something similar...

  32. Correct. And people (recruiting services) give ratings bumps on offers. Ratings are subjective and people have unconscious biases. If a kid commits early, I'm not surprised if they don't climb much in the rankings (if they're not reporting new offers).

  33. I would hope so. But then I saw some Twitter replies from a dearly departed HB member and hardcore Trumpkin: I can't imagine anyone claiming to be hardcore Christian supporting Donald Trump, but here we are. The cult is real.

  34. A little off topic but this part of your post struck me. How would Jesus be recieved today? My guess is he would be outcast and targeted the same today as he was 2000+ years ago. I think some(maybe many) Christian organizations would be against Jesus in the same way the ancient pharisees were. An interesting thought experiment for sure.

  35. More from the CT article above. This I think is the defining quote of the article. He defines the 'rock and the hard place' that some evangelicals & conservatives in general find themselves in. Trump has done some things that we support however as the article states it is not in balance with the immoral character he exhibits. As Christians, our first obligation is not towards a certain political position on the subjects important to us (abortion being just one) but rather to the Lord of our faith. When our anxiety about an issue causes us to transfer our trust from God to a man, and esp a man of Trump's character, we have denied our faith in that case, and fail to acknowledge our God's sovereignty in all things - if one man fails, God can raise up another man or woman to do His work of being 'Justice Bearers" (whether they proclaim to be Christian or not). Our obligation as believers is to be discerning. In this case, I believe that Trump is not worthy of this high calling. I am not obligate to support him just because he has supported the side of an issue that I stand for. Fidelity to moral uprightness must come before loyalty to any man. So really there is no rock and hard place if one is clear thinking about their loyalties. Matt 6 states we cannot serve two masters. If we are clear minded, we will be faithful to God's word and leave political dogma loyalty in its dust. This is so vitally important - I guess I said something similar above. Joshua 24:15 seems appropriate with this quote below: 15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood(TG: Maybe we have generations of GOP support in our family), or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell (TG: the trump version of conservatism perhaps) : but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

  37. Solich, Callahan and Pelini recruited multiple F classes then. I think this is a little steep in my opinion. Also it is misleading to use class rank as Callhan would have scored an A one of his years but that is only because he signed 30+ kids. This class is better than that class. I don't think a hard and fast scale like this works in recruiting. Each year is unique, especially for us.

  38. Didn't he have extra work to do because he was kicked out of multiple schools? Even if not child porn he still used a sexually explicit video of a minor to shame her after being told like a year before to delete the video. Lets not pretend this is a good person because he plays for Nebraska.

  41. Really look at this... 1. Worked his a$$ off to get here and did it 2. Smoked/had weed (literally no one cares) 3. Had a pic/video of an old GF that was naked or making love 4. Was mad/upset that he didn't get the ball more Assuming that is everything...well...it is not really a big deal. (All you SJW's relax on the child porn stuff, we all know that is not what it really is) Every guy on the team that is not starting and/or getting TONS of play is mad (that is how it works) They all smoke weed/drink (All you stat geeks, please realize I know that not ALL OF THEM smoke and drink) I think you sit him down and you yell at him, kids like him respond to that, you say "You are a moron, you know that, right?" and he will agree, and then you ask "Do you want to be here, for real, do you want to be part of this or do you think you would be better leaving" he will be honest...if he says "yes" you say "Tell me what boundaries you need..." and he will say "I don't know" Then you say..."Here is what I propose..." and you lay it out.

  42. I feel similarly about Husker_x. I haven't yet become agnostic or atheist, but I have become a heretic to nearly all Christians (and even those who aren't but still know christian theology). Yep. I've flipped sides or changed my mind or just stopped holding a belief on such things as abortion, lgbtq rights, systemic racism, economic policy ideas, god, the aftrelife, life outside the midwest and a lot of other things in the time I've been on this board and to some extent because of conversations on this board.
