  1. So that never happens to teams if they line up in the I formation with three tight ends? Automatic touchdown, right?

  2. Keith Williams was meh. Way over-hyped IMO, and he did nothing on the recruiting side.

  4. Walters does more work in the OC position that most people think. Yes, he's not calling the plays during the games, but Frost depends on him a lot during the week. Walters is Frost's right-hand man in developing the game plan and the key plays they want to focus on for each opponent, and I would think Walters is running the offensive practices when Frost wants to check out the defense/special teams. I do agree that the current staff can probably absorb a position group, primarily on defense, as I also think NU needs a dedicated special teams coach.

  5. Cool. 1 on 1 training in an individual setting, working on drills. How many 1st team All Conference WRs did he produce in his 3 years? What about 2nd Team?

  7. I think the evidence is becoming overwhelming - we have a trader, puppet, a Manchurian President in the WH. He moves out of Syria - Turkey and Russia move in. He bombs Iranian general, Russia moves in. He cuts off aid to Ukraine, Russia benefits, Russian interference in our election benefits Trump, Trump's secret talks wt Putin, Trump exposes the Israel agent to the Russian ambassador in the WH, Trump threatens to leave NATO - benefits Russia Trump is beholding to the Russian mob to keep his businesses afloat.etc. I'm sure we could go on and on. When the history of this admin is told 50 years from now, people will wonder how could this have occurred. They will also see a GOP leadership that was also corrupted by Russian influences and made it possible for Trump to do what he has done. I'm not a conspiracy guy - show me the facts and let them tell the story. I think the circumstantial evidence is becoming overwhelming.

  11. I'm neutral on Dawson. Good that he knows the staff and the lay of the land. But I do like to see outside voices brought in (Diaco notwithstanding) to offer differing viewpoints and tweak the status quo.

  13. Bruce Read left practice early to go hang out at Hank Hughes' dorm room. He probably wanted to get some games of Madden in before Hank got back to the room.

  14. Exactly. Remember when people were so excited that we finally woke up and took special teams seriously? How'd that work out? I'm not in the boat that having a full time special teams coordinator is really that big of a deal. You can only work on (most) special teams during certain times of practice anyway. Bruce Read left after about 45 minutes every day. There isn't any reason that one of the other position coaches can't do special teams as well and do very well at it. Not getting multiple kickers hurt will make our special teams a lot better. Having a bunch of young linebackers and safeties will make our special teams much better. There are several things that will help a lot more than having a dedicated coach.

  15. In a 3-4, the responsibilities and techniques of the MLBs and OLBs differ enough that you should have separate coaches for each.

  18. Sorry to hear it - sadly I feel like the only way some of the US will see the incompetence and danger of this man and the sheep that surround him is when they're impacted directly with someone going.

  19. He literally painted himself into a corner by saying mental illness has nothing to do with it, while everyone else is saying that it is not normal to go kill people. Then he tried using an example of saying listening to Pantera is just as good of a reason as to why people kill...little did he know that he finished the paint job when it was pointed out that their lead singer was literally shot and killed while performing on stage by...wait for it...a mentally ill person. Facts have been provided but not the facts that he would like to see. You probably have a gun, a lot of our posters have guns, yet, they don't go kill anyone, why is that? I mean, you have access to guns, why aren't you killing people. Then he says American's have a fetish for guns...another corner...fetishes are known as a disorder, a mental one...a strong attachment to sexual arousal (even with an inanimate) object. (I have some, don't get me wrong, wink) You think there are people that treat their guns better than they treat their friends or family and hold them, caress them, clean them non stop and dream about the damage that they can do with them? Yep! Nuts! Everyone has already said stricter gun laws are fine, I ever said to get rid of all of them, fine with me!

  23. Even with the walk on inflation rate that’s a ton roster flip, astronomical. It takes walk on’s even longer to grow and produce. then figure that 93% redshirt rate?!? That’s awesome... in the long run. But it sucks now lol the hype came because we thought AM was gonna be lights out, wasn’t. Because Mo would break 35 yarders twice a quarter, not on team. Mills was #1 recruit, took some time to gel. Wan’dale would be sneaky good, he was but was overused. JD could pick up all slack, not so much as a deep threat. Mo Berry was all B1G, not. Transfer Daniels and the twins matched up with big boys, not. TEs would find seams, not with a shaky AM and on and on from hype to reality. Good news is all these really young guys will be upperclassmen (AM is a junior?!? holy cow) next year. I’m excited. Frost has done a good job overall, save for the mistakes on the 4 game redshirt rule for a couple guys. Roster turnover has sucked for the ‘’now” but I think it’ll pay off huge very shortly.

  24. Im right there with you brother. I didnt realize the extent of this until this past month when i was looking at our roster. I was pissed off at our coaching after the Iowa game and the season as a whole. I thought we had more talent than everyone in our division except maybe Wisconsin, and yet we looked like a s#!tty team. Then i examined our roster. And realized we had no more talent than anyone, (maybe equal to the rest of our division). Riley's last class was rated 23(?), but most of the top guys from that class aren't here (including the top 3, and most of the top 10). Frost's first class had one month, he lost most of Riley's top recruits, and lost some more to attrition. 90% of our talent will be freshman or Sophomores next year. I respect your posts as you speak from the heart, we just gotta be patient for 1 more year. I blame most of this on the hype so many people put on this past year. Anyone who looked at the roster should have known we wouldn't be that good this past year, but as fans our hearts fell for it. We still should have been 7-5 or so, but Frost had very little to work with.

  27. He got interest from some good recuits, the problem was those kids saw the writing on the wall for Riley and didn't come here. Show them something to believe in and I'd bet KW would be a good recruiter and coach. Zach Smith at Ohio state was a great recruiter but no one worked out for him on their own time and dime like they do Keith

  28. He was - Offensive MVP in the team awards, and the only lineman to get any kind of all-conference recognition. Honorable mention from the coaches I believe. I think he was pretty solid, but on the offensive line mistakes are way easier to notice than good plays. Particularly on the edge. M problem with PFF is from what I've gathered their "proprietary grading system" is two dudes watching plays and deciding how well a player did his job. It's what they do so I trust it more than a random person's eye test (or my own for that matter), but I don't get too caught up in the specific grades once they're close. I don't see how you can completely objectively break down what a player is supposed to do from an outside perspective and score it alongside other players in different situations. Are we 93rd if we play Louisiana's schedule? They ranked 9th, but I seriously doubt they have the 9th best line in the country.

  29. I had said that, yes. In the Osborne era it was so typical to have some redshirt Junior come in and you had never heard of the kid in week 1 of the new season. And he'd be this monster of muscle mass and start dominating from week 1. I don't think Frost's first class was that great with offensive line recruits but he really hit his stride starting with the 2019 class. To me it's a waste of Corcoran's raw talent and physical giftings to not redshirt him. That's just my personal opinion. There's a kid that could easily play in the NFL with the right amount of hard work and development - best thing for him and everybody is to redshirt him IMO.

  31. I remember the last time Oregon was in town... I was sure glad they kept going for 2. 4 of 5 attempts failed and they lost by 3. 2 point conversions are attempted in desperation imo. If your offense is dominant enough to almost guarantee them, you won't need them.

  33. If we can identify the kid who shone a laser from the ground up at a plane near Boston we should not have an issue identifying who is flying multiple drones, over the course of many nights. Also, in that somewhat less populated area, imagine how many/many nights they have flown without being seen.

  35. Not sure why everyone is making this so complicated. Chins coached OLBs at Oregon for a couple seasons and he currently doesn’t have a direct position to coach. He takes over OLBs along with DC. We then hire a special teams coach that is also a stud recruiter and can help out with another position. Or we bring back Dawson and then Frost maybe takes over more of a special teams role, similar to what Bo did in 2014.

  37. No reason we can't. You can have as many analysts as you want (Alabama had 12 this past season, including 2 for special teams as well as big names like Butch Jones, Major Applewhite, and Mike Stoops). But our current offensive analyst job posting (Helfrich???) pays $36k/year, so you can't really expect NFL guys to leave AC jobs to take something like that. Bama uses it for fired coaches on buyouts or former players looking to get into coaching.

  41. Let me mix some metaphors: We dont have the horses to run with the big dogs. We get some horses , and all of a sudden, the coaches seem a lot smarter. We get some horses on the OL, and all of a sudden the coaches are geniuses. Your a genius, your a genius, your a genius, everyone's a genius.

  44. I just don't get the attitude of claiming we just need to hire someone who is an "ace recruiter" and not worry if they are an actual good coach. We just saw in OLB and ST what happens when they aren't getting the coaching they need. We need someone who is good at both.

  45. I'm not trying to take anything away from Joe Burrow. But when you can just throw it up and let your receivers go get it, it makes things a ton easier. Same thing watching Notre Dame just lob it up to Claypool over and over again earlier today. Hopefully Manning and Betts can fill that role for us for the next few years and make our offense look a lot different.
