  1. MIke Bloomberg is supposedly lobbying Hillary Clinton to be his running mate. Thoughts? I have one. How much more of a train wreck can the Democrats make of this election?

  2. I think there is hope. Cam Mack seems to be the real deal & the scout team beats the starters on a regular basis in practice. The three transfers who are sitting out this year will make a big difference next year.

  5. The message being sent by not even having a Special teams coach is very troubling to say the least. In my opinion not having atleast mediocre (“average”) special teams is the most disappointing part of Frost’s first two years. I blame him primarily and it is borderline inexcusable frankly. Kickers got hurt and we dont know how exactly how but hip flexor or such if that was involved is often caused by overuse (kicking too much in practice or perhaps improper weight lifting? ). I dont feel talent is an excuse for coverage team play - our roster of 150 plus has enough decent athletes to block and tackle etc at an average level) not enough attention paid in practice etc - now it seems its only important enough to hire an “”analyst” ? They need a coach with experience in kicking to start with and if need be divide up the other areas punt returns coverages etc between other staff. Punt returns / kickoffs are defensive plays / teams/ players and punts/placekicks are offense plays / teams / players. Frankly I dont know who coaxhes the scout teams but we need improvement there as well. too often the defense struggles to stop opponents in plays / formations unlike those run by our own offense. thats the job of fourth and fifth stringers to give good practice reps of opponents.

  6. Second page of the thread and no examples of best posting replies. Well, here's one. "Okay, then. Let's just agree to disagree." Posted when it's clear you and the other person won't ever reach agreement.

  7. The ncaa limits us to nine assistant coaches. Using a Special Teams Analyst instead of devoting an assistant coaching slot to ST is a way of making the nine assistant coaches we have more efficient.

  9. Here is a good article. At first glance of Auburn's ST last year opponents KO and PR returns were rough. 2018 was better, but this article speaks to some issues that we have/had....Here is an excerpt showing some "adjustments and analysis". One thing I thought Frost had said at the start was "if you don't want to play on ST's, you won't start"...Alluding to the best athletes would play AND be on ST. Didn't/hasn't appeared to be the case. I am ASSuming being 1 deep in every spot sure hasn't helped.... Like I've said before, surely we can't be worse. Something was clearly off with Auburn’s punt coverage unit, and the team addressed that after the Tulane game. Siposs wasn’t matching the height of his punts with the distance, slightly affecting the hangtime of his punts, while the coverage unit missed some key tackles as well. Siposs has since adjusted, and the coverage group also benefited from the return of speedster Anthony Schwartz, who is used as a gunner on punt coverage and has the ability to close out on punts to help prevent returns. https://www.al.com/auburnfootball/2019/10/assessing-auburns-special-teams-at-midseason.html

  10. Hard to judge. A nearly ¾-hour, 11-run 1st inning changed the script on the mound. You don't have to get cute at that point nor use your top relievers. Free passes would have made the comeback easier for Baylor so you play it safe not getting too fancy trying to paint corners etc. There was some slick defense behind the pitchers, too, though. But it's only one (very good) game. I'll save my complaints for year 3 if necessary Edit: SL beat me to it :p

  12. I know exactly what you are talking about. Most of the time it seems they do that to act like they are better than you and that you're not worth their trouble to respond directly to. It helps them feel superior so they act like they are.....and then they begin to actually believe they are.

  13. If we've gotta lose a strong prospect, I guess this is one of the 'better' reasons to. Certainly, I think we'd all rather see a kid with mental health issues go home than become the next Bryce Gowdy, the kid who killed himself after signing with Georgia Tech... https://www.sun-sentinel.com/local/broward/deerfield-beach/fl-ne-bryce-gowdy-mental-health-20200101-ryf43wlw25e6too3bdce6lt35i-story.html

  15. Being a worse football team, doesn't exactly equate to being a worse program. The most recent 5 years doesn't define a program. Nebraska still recruits better than MSU, despite Nebraska being in its worst stretch of history, and MSU being in their best. I agree Nebraska isn't the best place to be a head coach, possibly not even in the top 25..but MSU has a lower ceiling imo. If you weigh only recent success as your indicator of a program than i could see your point

  18. Ummmm....no. an effective manager welcome people who are around him/her and are honest about their opinions. Express the opinion, let the leader make a decision then accept the decision and go. That’s not being a “yes man”. That’s having a good team around you that you trust.

  21. We pitched young guys because of the lead. You also pitch different when you get 11 run cushion. As far as the bats, Bolt is an offensive coach. Plus, he has alot veterans. I'll pass judgment for at least a month. We practice in a shed.

  22. Overall the team looked pretty sharp. Good Venz showed up and if that Venz shows up I'd make him the favorite to win Big Tens and he wouldn't shock me if he made a finals run (assuming he doesn't catch Valencia.) Otherwise, pretty solid effort. I think Robb is going to be pretty good and all this experience he's getting in tough matches as a freshman is going to be invaluable down the road. He always seems to get an early takedown but that he just kinda shuts his offense down which won't get it down against the top guys who will attack for all 7 minutes. Red, Labs, Schultz, Lovett all looked great. White looked good too, just had a couple moments of sloppiness that cost him the MD. On the UM side, Mason Parris is awesome and I can't wait to see he and Stevenson square off a couple times. Parris destroyed Jensen.

  23. Agreed, just admitting that you have a mental health issue is tough especially at his age when most think they are bullet proof, I hope he gets the help he needs and finds piece

  24. I know he is an analyst, but what actual coach will he be working with?
    1 point
  25. I’m still kinda confused on how this will work. Is the analyst going to have to coach a full time assistant on how to coach special teams? Or is he able to do some type of instruction with the athletes? I think if it’s the first one, that seems borderline inefficient and possibly could cause a lot of miscommunication and problems come saturdays in the fall

  26. Another good one is when you make a point related to the discussion, they'll claim you are moving the goalposts. But when they do the exact same thing, and you point it out, they'll say "we can walk and chew gum at the same time, can't we?"

  28. I totally get that! That makes sense...I am talking about the "on purpose" no quote. Like...think of it this way...you are at home with your family...one family member (probably a brother or sister) says something that annoys you...so you refuse to look at them or acknowledge that they are alive...but you still comment on what they said.

  35. You know exactly what it means dude. Don't really care if you like the term or not. When I show up to caucus for my candidate who's part of the democratic party and Sanders and Warren supporters are in my face telling me how I'm wrong to support that candidate. They're pushy............that's a sad situation, but that's the perfect example of a judge acting like a judge acts sometimes. And I get you think Pete is a corporate robot, but I'd also argue who can connect better with the middle class? A billionaire politician no matter who it is that's been in Washington for 30+ years or a guy who's got $100,000 in student loan debt and pays $850 a month for his mortgage in a tiny house and isn't worth more than $250,000. I know my position and answer on that.

Thank you to all those that chose to come here but it may be possible a smaller school may work better for you. Just opened up another 3-4 scholarships. Maybe we get a few more. i hope SF can sleep at night knowing some of you wanted the dead weight to stay here indefinitely.
