  1. Or Isaiah Simmons Simmons was pretty much ours before Clemson came in late. Parsons was never coming here.

  2. 2016 actually isn't terrible. 50% is fairly normal. Not sure if the best programs do better than that but that's fairly standard overall. 2017 was horrendous. And neither was a particularly big class. If 2016 was 25 instead of 21 that could/would be two more solid contributors. Which would be pretty helpful, especially if they were at certain spots. But the part where we really failed heavily at two spots that struggled last year - WR and LB - helps tell the story of why we struggled. Plus our RB depth was poor.

  5. Instead of running for president, why doesn't he just do the country a favor and buy Fox News & turn it into a 1950s-era rerun channel so all the olds get distracted with their favorite era and leave us alone?

  7. At the time he left I also thought he had good intentions. But then within a few months of Riley being at Oregon State three pretty decent players bailed out to join him ( Tristan Gebbia, WR Tyjon Lindsey and LB Avery Roberts). It's pretty clear that he actively recruited them to follow him to OSU. You might ask, "Did he owe us any allegiance--given we fired him?" Well, this came at a time when we were paying him a little over $2 million per year in buy-out money. So, yeah. For that kind of coin you'd think he could have kept our best interests in mind. Or at least not screwed us over. Riley isn't as nice a guy as what he appears to be in press conferences. He'l like an evil Mr. Rogers (of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood).

  8. I watched the full debate last night and found it pretty entertaining to say the least. My take on it: 1. Bloomberg is an arrogant snob who seems to think he can buy the election. He appears to be as much of a slime ball as Trump but with perhaps better business skills and voices more compassionate policies NOW that he is running for Pres. He is however still a slime ball and should not be anywhere near the WH. As Liz Warren said after the debate, he needs to get out of the race, check his ego, and just donate his money to help defeat Trump. 2. Mayor Pete - or should I say Perfect Plastic Pete. I think Amy nailed him by saying we can't all be as perfect as him with all of his memorized platitudes and talking points. Pete is like the little barking dog who is standing behind his bull dog buddy. Pete attacks everyone out of a pious attitude but has no substantial experience to back up his worthiness for the job. Anyone can be a critic, few can be real movers and shakers -getting things done. He was the mayor of a city that is the same size as one of Tulsa's bedroom communities - big whoop. 3. Liz Warren - at first I thought she was trying too hard. Trying to over exert herself. She pointed out the flaws of everyone on stage- repeatedly. But she kind of redeemed her self with her hard attacks on Bloom which were spot on. She also came to Amy's defense when Pete unfairly attacked her and the moderator asked an unfair question. She set herself apart from Bernie. In the end I was back to neutral with her performance. 4. Uncle Joe - Biden was in and out. I'm thinking he is at the mental state where he is just too old for all of this. Not sure how he'd do one on one against trump. When he did talk, he had decent things to say but he just faded in an out. He didn't act like a front runner. 5. Sanders - Bernie was Bernie - I was not convinced about his strategy to pay for his health care plan. I still question his ability to beat Trump. 6. Amy - I think she was the most 'likeable' person on the stage. Of course this isn't a personality test. I did think she did a good job in defending her positions when attacked. She tried to present herself as a doer who got things done and as a uniter - an anti-trump in that regard. i think she had a good debate. If I had a vote in the Nevada primary it would be for Amy or Biden.

  13. Noah Fant had 78 catches in 3 seasons at Iowa, with 39 being the most in a single season. All but 1 NFL receiver averaged less than 8 catches a game this year. 3-5 catches a game would be realistic for any top TE in college, especially in a cold weather state. Agree that Iowa is the better choice with their recent TE success, but TE’s are drafted based on potential more than any other position.

  15. I was going to put this in the Primary thread but I couldn't. Panicking Aides Finally Locate Biden At Wrong Venue Following Cirque Du Soleil Performers Onstage After frantically searching for the former vice president in the hours leading up to Wednesday night’s debate, panicked campaign aides reportedly located Joe Biden at Las Vegas’ Treasure Island Hotel, where the candidate appeared to have followed a Cirque du Soleil troupe onstage. “There he is, up there—those circus clowns are tossing him back and forth,” said visibly relieved senior adviser Anita Dunn, waving her arms at the seven-term former U.S. senator, who was attempting to make an impassioned speech about his legislative record despite being severely entangled in aerial silks and dangling 50 feet in the air. “Even if we got him down from there right now, we still wouldn’t make it to the debate venue on time, and he does seem to be shouting his most important talking points at the guys playing those big Japanese drums and the two musclemen flying around on bungees. To be honest, I haven’t seen him looking this coherent in a long time. Why don’t we just let the vice president have a nice night for once?” At press time, Biden was overheard berating a unicycle rider he “didn’t like the looks of” from the confines of a large, whimsical birdcage.

  16. I'm all for allowing a one time transfer. Imo, there are already a lot of real life deterrents in place. It is not easy on kids to switch teams - learning a new culture, new city, new curriculum, etc. If a kid is dead set on making a change, it will be a challenge for them without the NCAA or B1G adding additional penalty. Those same kids also face a huge risk of it not working out at all. From Bleacher Report- "Currently there are 756 student-athletes in the transfer portal from FBS teams that are still active, as in haven't been able to transfer to another school. Those 756 entered the portal between 10/15/2018 (the first date of the portal) to 07/31/2019. There are 857 active players in the portal from 08/01/2019 through 01/30/2020. That is 1,613 transfers from FBS schools that still have not found a home. 1,008 student-athletes have transferred, not all to other FBS schools. For football, in the first year (10/15/2018 - 07/31/2019) there 1,720 student-athletes, 756 currently active (have not transferred), 821 that have matriculated (transferred), and 143 that withdrew from the portal. Right now (08/01/2019 - 01/30/2020), there are 1,086 in the transfer portal, 856 remain active, 189 that have matriculated, and 41 that have withdrawn." That means that more than 57% of D1 football student-athletes who enter the portal are unable to transfer to another football program, essentially ending their collegiate football and academic career. " If a kid is unhappy enough to take this risk, I see no reason why additional penalties are needed.

  21. They were not shut down by Wal Mart...they were shut down by consumers. People look at this in such an odd way. We have thread after thread after thread about how horrible DirectTV and Cox have become because of their price gouging...then we have reply after reply of tricks to get your bill lowered...then we have reply after reply that offer up cheaper alternatives...and we all "plus 1" it and thank the people. But when it comes to the Mom and Pop piggly wiggly shop that was charging 3 times as much for some cereal...we get mad at Wal Mart for offering the same product for way less and with more convenient hours.

  26. Yeah until he explains that we already have corporate socialism and rugged individualism for the poor and then people say you know hes right. He pulled an MLK quote at the debates last night, he said “MLK said it best, we have socialism for the rich and rugged individualism for the poor” and that got a HUGE applause from the audience who is usually hand picked by the DNC. Trump has his base. He isnt getting anymore. All Sanders needs to do is explain democratic socialism to people and they agree with him. Hes been doing it his whole career and gets 25% of the republican vote in Vermont. Good luck with Sanders as the nominee, youre going to need it.

  27. That reminds me of a "Town Hall" Romney hosted at my middle school auditorium. After the speech, the host took the microphone and handed it to 3 people in the crowd who asked obviously planted questions; 1 was a little girl who asked if he would keep lead out of toys. No effort at all came to take questions from the rest of the audience. Why do I remember such a banal moment in politics? The banner hung above him said "Ask Mitt Anything."

  32. Not sure where we finished in yards produced but we were not very good in scoring and thats the most important thing. Not efficient offensively nor consistent. The entire team has been inconsistent for 6 years. The most disappointing and troublesome concern about theae first two Frost coached teams is not being a steady, confident very hard working and determined bunch that emulates it leader! This is Frost himself and I still feel it is THE reason Frost will get the program rolling eventually (starts Aug 2020) - as he will finally get the culture changed and some jntrasquad leadership guys of the right types to step forward and assert their wills. That fighting spirit will catch fire and then look out.

  33. I haven't been able to shake this all day. $36B (a little over half of Bloomberg's 62.5B) amounts to $15,000 per month or $180,000 per year..........for 200,000 years. Is that crazy?

  34. I thought Joe did better last night than at anytime Ive seen him in past few months. He spoke better and didn't come off quite as much as the stroke victim he's seemed lately. He pretty much stayed out off the really nasty exchanges for the most part and seemed a bit of a non-factor. I think he's probably done.
