  1. I'm assuming Damian Jackson's team won? I wonder if they just gave him a paintbrush and said "go get em" lol.

  9. I still cant understand how many right wingers dont know how freedom of speech works. I can go into work today and tell my boss he looks like a penis with a little hat on. Guess what? I wont be arrested. That is violating freedom of speech. But guess what else? Im getting fired because FOS has consequences.

  12. Cry us a river. Gundy has free speech. Nobody is curtailing that. Speech has consequences, and that's not something the First Amendment protects you against. The fact that people don't or won't understand that is a rot at the heart of American society that we must cut out.

  13. Freedom of Speech is dead. The fact that this is its own thread is a joke.

  14. Which is a little bit of why I'm having the feelings I have stated about this situation. There is clearly major issues of how these officers are trained. It's not this one rouge cop blasting away. It's a systemic thing in how they are trained and the mindset they are put into service with. So, when an officer like this is put in a split second decision and he feels threatened, his first reaction is to pull out the gun and fire. If it's a training issue, I have a problem with sentencing an officer like this to years in prison.

  17. Well, I think it is all "code messaging'. While the scheduling seems 'clueless' as if the 3 stooges were doing it, I think it is planned with a purpose of sending a message. Steven Miller is behind it and we know what kind of bigot he is. You don't pick Tulsa for a 'come back' rally on the day of the Juneteenth celebration, you don't pick Tulsa during the year of the 100 aniv of the race massacre without trying to send a message. Trump has nothing to gain in Tulsa - other than to send a message. He could have picked OKC - bigger city & state capital - if he just wanted to 'award' this red state with his presence. The same is true about your quote. Trump is a bigot and he will send his messages in any way possible.

  18. There have been plenty of instances where an officer is giving chase on a suspect and that suspect gets a shot off on an officer and ends up getting shot in the back. That doesn't justify or not justify the shooting for me in situations. I can see both sides of the situation in Atlanta. Having been shot with the Taser and having used the Taser on suspects it renders you completely helpless if contact is made appropriately with the probes. That becomes a concern for an officer in reference to your gun possibly being taken from you. If you hold the trigger down on the Taser it'll just keep going and going. It's more than "confetti" being shot out of those things. Of course if people would comply in these situations first of all and not play court on the side of the road or wherever ALOT of situations could be avoided.

  19. The officer didn't pull his gun and shoot till he turned and shot something at him. It's easy to say, well, it's a stun gun and not lethal. In a split second, that's a tough call to make. Not saying the officer was 100% justified. I'm saying that, in this situation, I can see his side.

  20. Mike Gundy, HFC at the Oklahoma State university, was recently photographed wearing an OAN t-shirt. As some of you know, OAN is the right-wing answer to that liberal bastion, Fox News. Trump has frequently called out Fox recently for not supporting him enough. Enter OAN, which makes Fox look liberal. That's a propaganda source that, as you may imagine, doesn't sit well with a lot of people of color. That includes Chuba Hubbard, star RB for Oklahoma State.

  22. A public person like Gundy, who represents my state, must be aware of the messages he is telegraphing to others. Frankly, my tax dollars purchased that shirt as my tax dollars pays his salary. That doesn't mean he doesn't have freedom to wear what he wants to wear or to say dumb things, but he must be aware that Oan is pretty far right - not moderate right, not conservative right, but far right. There are some nutjobs associated with the network and some cooky conspiracy theories that they push - where do you think Trump gets his cooky theories?

  23. It is another argument entirely regarding numbers...but...it is a factor. Until these numbers change, and "bad guys" can outgun cops, this will be an issue. USA 393 million privately owned firearms Germany 13 million Australia 3.5 million Sweden 2.39 million UK 1.4 million NZ 1.2 million

  24. US? You got two people in that body? You’re the one with your panties in a wad over someone wearing a t-shirt. Sure, Gundy could face some player/media backlash, but I’m sure he can handle it (he’s a man) given his previous statements on the issue. If he wore a far-left T-shirt, this wouldn’t be a topic. I didn’t even know what OAN was, (On Another Note was the first acronym I got) but I just don’t know why people care so much what people do in their personal lives.

  29. Fred clearly not scheduling for the NCAA’s, or really even the NIT’s at this rate. We’ve got a lot of new guys so I get it but.. yeesh. Creighton will likely be a Q1 game. Other than that... a lot of garbage. Kansas State game in KC will be cool but KSU finished dead last in the Big 12 last year and finished 3-15 in the league. Home game in the ACC B1G challenge will likely be against the worst or second worst team in the ACC. Probably either Miami or GT (again) since Wake was on the road last year. UMKC, IPFW, and Cleveland State are putrid. Myrtle Beach Invitational has some decent names but we’ll have to get lucky. Utah State and Dayton are likely going to be the best two teams there. Mizzou, Pitt, and Loyola (Chicago) all sound great until you look at their NET ratings. And then there’s Penn (decent) and Charlotte (less good but decent).

  30. She's living in a world where people actually read past headlines and refrain from knee-jerk emotional reactions. Responsible thinking isn't something that's common in the real world. "Defund the police" is a stupid "slogan". I'm sure I'll get asked for better, here's a few: "Fix the police" "Make police our partners" "Peaceful police for peaceful community" "Police relief" I'm not a police officer, but I would imagine they would love it if they were able to approach a traffic stop without having their mind think about where it might lead to. What if "traffic police" were only allowed to ticket for the reason for the stop? They could obviously make sure the driver is in a condition to drive, but that's it. A failure to use a blinker couldn't lead to a total search that finds a few ounces of weed and leads to an arrest. There would have to be some wording to detain immanent threats. But just think how many situations could be avoided if everyone involved in the stop knew, the worst I'm going to get is a ticket and I'll be on my way.

  33. Tulsa World editorial - Trump should cancel the campaign event in Tulsa. A lot of good points and one obvious observation - Trump gains nothing electorally by holding it in Tulsa. He'll win the state and the majority of voters - yet he will place the city at a great disadvantage - 1. increase Covid -19 spread - we are on the rise since re-opening 2. cost to an already very strained city budget 3. racial tension - the timing is terrible as mentioned before All of this and the timing really makes me suspect of his motives in picking Tulsa at this time. Wrong Time, Wrong Place

  36. To me, this is very different than the George Floyd situation. I've heard several law enforcement experts interviewed over the weekend on this situation. All have seen the videos that we have all seen. Most stated that the officers acted appropriately right up till the gun was fired that killed him. They were justified in taking him into custody for being intoxicated. When he starts fighting back, got possession of the stun gun, and then turned and fired it at officers...is when it gets really murky. This is when an officer has to think in split seconds. Is it the stun gun? Is it a real gun? Are other people in danger? I know I would hate to be in that situation and have to make that decision instantaneously. Some suggested that it was wrong to chase and shoot because they had the guy's car and driver's license. They knew who he was and could have arrested him later. I can agree with that. What I DON'T agree with is that I've heard some say, well, why didn't they just give him a ride home or call him an Uber instead of trying to arrest him. OK...that's how it used to be around here 30-40 years ago. But, not anymore. That's just now how these things work. If you fail the sobriety test....you get arrested and taken into custody. This situation shouldn't be any different. The first wrong, was him fighting back. The second wrong was probably the officer firing his gun. But....that's a tough situation for the officer.

  37. Got to block besides catch&run. I was real disappointed in our blocking on screens and downfield. I think they missed Warner as a guy who would block. I think that's part of the reason that Hickman is moving out to a z spot. I expect to see a big difference with last year because of the newly recruited size and the fact that they will be able to fit players in their nature roles better than last year. Last year there was too much of a log jam at slot and our Z guys just working blocking well enough.

  38. If you still have a job and it hasn't been affected by the virus, it's assigning to think you shouldn't have to pay rent like normal. I'm on board with figuring out how to help people who lost their jobs or are making a lot less. But, still...that shouldn't fall just on the landlord to suck it up and take it. I don't care if you're a company that owns 1,000s of units across the country. It all works the same. If that company all of a sudden isn't getting rent income, the people that work for them will lose their jobs and it just keeps snowballing.

  39. Frost’s first two years would look so much better with good special teams vs poor. Field position alone probably improves 50-75 yards a game = 3 to 5 pts per game better pts scored and same defensively.

  43. Coaches getting paid 5 mil a year in an industry with insanely high turnover, usually don’t purposely put out their worst players just because they are holding a grudge. I hope it was communicated to McQuitty, because there is 100% a reason he wasn’t playing, and it wasn’t because Frost didn’t like him.
