  1. Just skimming this page: but I think the recommended workout is to sprint 10 miles in 11 minutes with a plastic bag over our head

  2. Insert "Who wants to go to a Bengals/Browns game anyways" joke here.

  3. the players demand: - a complete ban on parties and social gatherings from - mandatory curfew all season long, - the above precludes public protests, and political events at which music may be played - no 'personal friends' visiting athletic student housing - surrender their tickets to encourage social distancing for fans - no outside food lacking the same standards as their training table - no smoking anything as airborne particles may spread the virus - masks mandatory when possible, pretty much every time except aerobic exercise - scholarship reduced in proportion to the diminished educational value of online instruction Yes, this would convince anyone they are truly devoted to covid safety.

  4. Sorry. Had I known, I would’ve responded with a humorous gif

  5. If I had to knowingly try that hard to deflect, I'm positive I would be able to recognize that what I was defending was the actual problem. At that point I would reevaluate. So, what's your problem? There aren't but a few options, none of them are good.

  9. @Max a suggestion: Fix this or lose most of your members and they start a new site. You pick brother. Not a threat: that’s just what it’s gonna boil down to.

  11. Yes my criticism of the fake lock downs always comes back to the dearth of logic. In my state I may not enter a library, community college hall, or a gym. However I can (but won't) go to a casino or a crowded unmasked restaurant patio.

  13. Don't hockey players wear a similar face shield? Does it cause them problems?

  14. Possibly. Unfortunately after reading your posts I’ve long since forgotten what the original question was.

  20. Agreed. My apologies for whatever I've said to you that keeps your poison flowing. Please, forgive me. I'm a flawed human.

  21. The face shield may be uncomfortable for some but under the circumstances it makes complete sense. The more we can limit player to player spread, the higher the likelihood we get to play a season.

  22. The average football player runs for 11 minutes a game. Wide receivers and cornerbacks average about 1.25 miles per game, so most players run less. I think you and J.J. Watt are wrong and that would not restrict or feel restricting at all.

  23. I don't agree with you and had this same conversation with someone else. The face mask on a helmet is a good 3 inches away from your mouth. There is not constricted air flow like wearing a mask that sits right over your mouth. I've worked 8 hr shifts in heat while wearing a respirator style face mask. yes its uncomfortable but you can still breathe. Put a plastic bag over your head holding it 3 inches away from your mouth and run around your yard when its hot out then get back to me if you couldn't do it because you couldn't breathe.

  29. Also worth noting, he required staff including interns to be in person at the office. The staff was notified of his positive via the media first. People who did wear masks in his office, were berated.

  30. Thus, you think football players should play for you and endure what you think they should be able to endure. J.J. is entitled to not play if he feels that wearing a shield is too restrictive. Feel free to read the article and debate J.J. on it. I related to it via running. It makes sense to me.

  31. The state of Iowa did just fine IMO for still playing the whole baseball and softball season along with all youth programs.

  32. Sure...the bigger question is, if you're a player, what do you do if the league says....NO to your demands? Do you quit football and become just a normal student paying your own way with none of the perks, glam and glory of being a top D1 athlete?

  35. I’m not disagreeing with that, and I’m really trying not to rehash this again, but technically there were only 491k lab confirmed cases of H1N1 in 2009-10, with over 18k lab confirmed deaths. That puts the official mortality rate at over 3%, with a much higher percentage of young people dying. Now if we want to really analyze its effect in hindsight, we know we need to extrapolate those numbers into more realistic estimates to get a better picture of disease burden. But back to the main point...what I find confusing about this whole thing is that we are apparently trying to establish a large group of non-quarantined players, staff, coaches to get together for games with limited spectator ship (still numbering in the thousands) and we are expecting what to happen exactly? Are we not expecting people to get infected? Are we really hoping for suppression here? The middle of the country is about to get hit with the tail end of the first wave of this thing. It’s about to get worse. Either we’re going to accept that it’s going to happen regularly (local outbreaks among teams/fans) or we need to just shut it down.

  36. ^^^ You have obviously never done it ... nor run with a mask ... and probably don't get claustrophobic. I admire these guys who can do that. It isn't easy. It's like running in high altitude ... just very, very panicky when you get your body trying to work full capacity but your are limited. For all the folks who want these guys to play ... consider what risk they will play under let alone this type of limitation. Again ... I couldn't stomach it. I'm running 8-10 miles 5 days a week and each day it's a fight to get through.

  38. Somebody recently posited lately that it may be becoming a court that has a very broad, inclusive vision of civil rights that includes both protections for minorities (i.e., the Native American reservation and LGBTQ rights cases) AND religious freedoms. But one thoughline from the pro-Trump SCOTUS is that they split in the face of all voting rights cases. First they bungled Citizens United that ensured an era of unlimited dark money in politics. Then they gutted the Civil Rights Act and the voting rights protections therein. Last year they punted on gerrymandering. Now this. Simply put, this SCOTUS will never help further voting rights. They're content to just let states do whatever they want.
