  1. Damn, I hope he made a full recovery. A stroke sounds more serious than Covid.

  2. They can't answer honestly, that is why. The coaches office, those are the honest answers. But reporters don't get to hear those comments (Unless you are secretly recording Bo).

  3. Yup and it's only used in low risk people who would be tested regardless. Based on the sources that @Nebfanatic and I found it is not like you describe it you left out a lot and made a lot of jumps. You honestly peddle a lot of bull crap regarding covid on this board.

  7. A banner is one thing, Fleck is going to get his team 'Undefeated National Champion' rings, with specific details like their number of negative tests and commemorating being on BTN to talk about the schedules. For anyone who missed it, Minny got Big Ten West co-champion rings (despite not going to the championship), and the rings include the Big Ten West trophy (which again, they did not win) and an ESPN Gameday plaque.

  12. I was mistaken, it was the regular starters. Rewatching the game quick it was probably 60/40 the O line and Mills. He had some great lanes to run through, then got a lot of YAC when he got to the second level. Martinez even had some nice holes, and decent pass pro most of the game. Seems like Wiscy spied Martinez and had a lot of 3 man rushes (one got a sack in the 1st quarter), but even when they had 4 down upfront we were still getting positive yards. 3 plays are all that killed us. A kick return for TD, tip pick, and not scoring on our very last possession.

  13. I say this based on the many global studies on quality of life that show the United States plummeting out of our First World status in several disturbing categories. The problem is amplified when we insist on our exceptionalism while doing little to earn it. The U.S. has lost a tremendous amount of the respect it earned post WWII, and has literally embarrassed itself over the last 3.5 years. I'm not sure Americans really understand how far we've fallen. Because I live here and experience all the crap right now, I want to fight for my country. And it gets a bit daunting to find out how many Americans truly believe the coronavirus sent by China is also plot by Bill Gates to implant us with tracking chips. It'd be kinda funny if it wasn't so horrifying.

  15. Congress has actually adjourned for a 3 day weekend. If the House Ds insist that stimulus is tied to bailing out the broke blue cities then there shouldn't be a deal.

  16. Ok I'll break this down simple. EVERYONE has to be tested before coming to a hospital for procedures like surgeries that have to be done. This is happening regardless of the type of testing. These are people who have no symptoms and are at a very low risk of having the disease, but they have to be tested anyway. They have shown that they can take batches of samples from these low risk people run them at the same time and save resources. The hospital reports that 1% of test have come back positive causing them to be retested. So, it's very rare they have to be retested. They report in the article they've saved 2,300 tests and tons of PPE by doing it this way. When you are coming in for surgery you are tested and then told to self quarantine until the procedure regardless of your results. So, if they do get a positive and people have to be retested they did not quarantine any longer than they would have anyway. This is all so that they can make sure patients coming in for NON-COVID procedures are negative and don't expose health workers or others at a hospital. This actually pretty smart and kudos to the "scientists" who came up with effective and efficient ways to keep people safe.

  18. I've come to believe that upwards of 90% or more of sports interviews are generally worthless, any way you slice it. Verduzco probably wants to do those interviews about as bad as he wants to sit down and listen to a two hour nails-on-chalkboard symphony. I'm guessing he just does his best to give some kind of answer one way or the other. First thing I'll be looking at this season is whether Martinez has time to throw the ball. Second thing is whether he takes off and runs when a hole is there and the play is broken.

  21. No. At the moment we are not the best country in the world by far. Or at all. Not the worst, either. But given our history of loudly braying about American exceptionalism, we probably should earn it instead of being this lazy, hypocritical, selfish and stupid. And when I say "stupid" I don't just mean a lack of book smarts. We are actually silencing intelligence in favor of primitive myth-making that plays to our basest fears and con-artists. Forget our European peers. We're getting more like Uganda every day.

  23. There's no doubt that a lot of "Christians" do horrible sh#t that is not Christian like at all. But it's weird that some have such an adverse reaction when someone points out that many Christians are not hypocrites and do act in a Christian manner. I guess I learned long ago that the common denominator for good or bad actions is not religion or faith or the lack thereof but rather it is people themselves.

  25. Good to hear about Martinez. OLine should be improved this year. Hopefully Manning is who we think he is (Dennis Green for you youngsters). Glad to hear we have someone on our team to "Moss" Bootle as I observed other teams do it to him too much last season.

  26. It's partially true. They're not doing it to save money, they're doing it because testing capacity is still lacking. I watched a doctor explain it this way. You take 12 people who need testing and give them all just one test. If it comes back negative, then you've just saved 11 test kits. If it comes back positive, then you'd give everybody a test which would have happened anyway currently. It does save on testing, especially in places that haven't been hit hard by Covid.

  29. It is so true though. Even at the HS level, the s#!t coaches say to reporters/parents is so phony compared to what they say in the coaches office. Let me give you one from 2 seasons ago...QB takes off and instead of diving for a TD, slows down and basically turns into a human pillbug (or potato bug) if you will. HC to parents and reporter: "He made a really smart play on that drive, protecting the ball and getting what he could" HC in locker room 15 minutes later: "That kid is f#&%ing soft...and his parents drive me nuts. Who stops at the 1 yard line"

  30. And we aren't going to look like Venezuela either. So now that we've admitted to a touch of hyperbole, do you think Donald Trump's America more resembles a nationalist leaning European nation, or a bats#!t third world kleptocracy selling tribalism and outsider conspiracies? I gotta lean to the latter, hyperbole and all. The good news is that I think there are still enough sane people to over-ride it, but it could get ugly.

  32. If you want me to say we're as bad as Uganda, no. Of course not. But if the measure is people falling for a sociopathic strongman who pretends he's a populist, leading to the rejection of the very things that make us smarter, empathetic and enviable, yeah, that's the road we're going down.

  33. One in 3 American's said they would not get the vaccine when ready per this Gallop poll. Big disparity between GOP and Dems. Perhaps this provides the anti-science, anti-govt brainwashing by the GOP over the last decade and esp during the Trump years. 47% of Republicans say they would get the vaccine, compared to 53% who would not. 81% of Democrats would get vaccinated, while 19% would not. 59% of independents say they would get the vaccine, compared to 41% who would not. 56% of those in rural or farm areas would get vaccinated, while 44% would not. 69% of those living in the suburbs would get the vaccine, compared to 31% who would not. 65% of those living in a large city would get vaccinated, while 35% would not. The poll, conduced July 20-Aug. 2, surveyed 7,632 people. The margin of error is plus or minus 2 percentage points. 34. Ok since you didn't find a source I did and guess what this was actually proven to work by UNL: https://www.news10.com/news/local-news/saratoga-hospital-proves-pooled-covid-19-testing-works/ It also doesn't work the way you're presenting it. They are only doing this for patients before they are admitted to the hospital for procedures. If you're not aware, everyone who has a procedure has to be tested anyway. So, they can pool patients together to test them and save resources. This is NOT being used in general population testing, it's one hospital using it on patients who would be tested regardless and aren't being forced to quarantine anymore than they would anyway for procedures.

  39. I think you're making a good case. I'm still in the camp of the OL being the biggest thing that hurt us last year offensively, though. It was systemic, and pass blocking was severely lacking. I'd pinpoint the Minnesota & Iowa games as two good examples of overall bad O-line play. Surprisingly, our run blocking was actually unbelievably good against Wisconsin - do you guys remember those holes Mills had to run through??

  41. I think you need to sit down and rewatch last season and you are putting words in my mouth. By the end of last season the WRs were losing us games because of their inability to make plays and stay on the field. That hurts the play calling, the quarterbacks confidence, the tempo, and the defensive time on field. Spielman and Wandale were great, but they were injured frequently. No one else stepped up. For a team with a high tempo offense that leads to losses and it shows on the scoreboard and on the stat sheet. There’s a reason Walters got replaced.

  42. Just having a decent kicking game would have added 3-5 wins imo. We haven't been quite as bad as our record would indicate so I believe the optimism is warranted. 10 wins next year may be a stretch but not a huge stretch. I really think we go 5-5 or 6-4 this year against the 13th toughest schedule in the country. Add in 2 non-conference wins and a 9 or 10 win season next year would look attainable.

  43. Hence why I said WR group. By the end of the season the OL wasn’t losing us games. There was no confidence in any WR not named JD or Wandale. When they were banged up there was almost 0 WR production.

  45. One thing I've noticed is those on the left (or those who would at least like to see them displace Trump) seem to have PTSD since 2016. A lot of us are shook to the point of being afraid of our own shadows and assume every new development that could halfway be construed as bad is evidence of us blowing it and is surely an unnecessary weapon to hand to Trump, a master muck-raker. Except, let's take a look at the most recent example of Trump on the attack: We need to stop being so afraid. He's completely out of gas trying to attack Biden. He's backed into making ridiculous, deeply dishonest, crazy-pants nonsense attacks like this against Biden. They're so lazy and patently untrue that I expect him to make them in the debates and Biden to laugh in his face and ask him if he realizes how stupid and disconnected from reality he sounds. I'm not saying the NRA thing can't blow up in our faces, but Trump is absolutely running on fumes trying to find lines of attack against Biden. A lot of people just don't give a s#!t what he says anymore and have written him off as a liar and a clown.
