  1. Wait a minute, is this the way it works in recruiting? You have to talk to a kid 4-5 days a week in order to show interest? If anyone tried to talk to me that often I would block them. I would hate that job.

  2. I was catching up on the thread and your post is where I decided to stop and comment, based on your previous posts and others that shared the sentiment. We both been around awhile, and I'm aware that you tend to discredit national sports writers & broadcasters who criticize Husker football, and counsel posters not to reward the "clickbait." I'm inclined to disagree. btw....t's not weird to let a few hours go by in the monitoring of HuskerBoard threads.

  5. Conversely, it's not Pat Forde's job to make a fanbase feel good about itself. They get paid to come up with sports stories that are better written and researched than the average fanboard post, and that's what he did. Nebraska fans have a persecution complex, and at some point it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Forde really had the knives out for this one and went for the deep snark, but he's not exactly wrong. And remember....these guys get emails. s#!tloads of emails. And they typically aren't from the thoughtful and pleasant folk posting here.

  6. That's fine and all, but offseason conversations are pretty limited and boring if we're only going to talk about players who have shown something. Especially because we're hoping even the ones that have shown something show more this year. Totally fair to suggest we pump the brakes on hype for guys who haven't played much or at all. But considering the entire starting defensive line is gone, the coaches thought highly enough of Robinson to play him some last year, and he's our best d line recruit in years - it's not crazy to be talking about him having a large role on the team. Martinez, Wan'Dale, CTB, were all hyped before they really showed anything on the field and did alright (freshman year for Martinez). I'm not a big believer in fan hype affecting most players, they generally have higher expectations for themselves than we do.

  7. You're getting words confused, "your" should be replaced with "you're." Also, excuses can be facts. "I lost the debate to Biden because he has more experience speaking and a bigger vocabulary than I have. Also he's not nearly as stupid as I am." - Trump. All facts, all excuses.

  8. Some folks on here made it a point to revise history when it came to Bo. He was far from perfect and his tenure came to an end because of his own doings. But he was as consistent as it gets. I have nothing but fond feelings towards him.

  9. Save for Maliek Collins & Vince Valentine, IMO. A Top 5 game from the Bo era for me was 2015 2014against Miami at home, which had both of those guys, Randy Gregory, Josh Mitchell, & Nate Gerry. That game could probably be argued as being the nastiest home game atmosphere in the post-Solich era. Has to be at least top 3 anyway.

  10. The craziest thing about Bo was that he was never able to recruit based off Ndamukong Suh's success. He had a perfect pitch - look at what this guy was when I got here, and look what I helped turn him into. And yet that position was a black hole for him after Suh.

  14. Joe has shown he can separate his personal religion from his duty to serve ALL citizens regardless of beliefs, Can Amy? If you have LBTGQ or female friends/family, this is something that has to be taken very seriously. In 2012, she signed a letter entitled “Unacceptable” that protested the Obama administration’s good faith effort to create a compromise in carrying out the contraception mandate under the Affordable Care Act. Professor Barrett’s letter stated: “This is a grave violation of religious freedom and cannot stand. It is an insult to the intelligence of Catholics, Protestants, Eastern Orthodox Christians, Jews, Muslims, and other people of faith and conscience to imagine that they will accept an assault on their religious liberty if only it is covered up by a cheap accounting trick.”[10] This strident letter is a skewed and misleading representation of a careful compromise that would have ensured women’s access to contraception as well as accommodated religious liberty interests by requiring insurance companies, rather than religious employers, to provide the contraceptive coverage. As a signatory to this letter, Professor Barrett demonstrated a strong bias against women making their own healthcare decisions. Professor Barrett has also expressed deeply held opposition to marriage equality, signing on to an October 2015 letter that stated: “We give witness that the Church’s teachings – on the dignity of the human person and the value of human life from conception to natural death; on the meaning of human sexuality, the significance of sexual difference and the complementarity of men and women; on openness to life and the gift of motherhood; and on marriage and family founded on the indissoluble commitment of a man and a woman – provide a sure guide to the Christian life.”[11] This language, embraced by Professor Barrett, is in direct conflict with the Supreme Court’s June 2015 decision, Obergefell v. Hodges, 135 S. Ct. 2584 (2015), which established a constitutional right to marriage equality in America. Professor Barrett’s bias on LGBT issues would require her to recuse in all cases involving LGBT equality and must be explored at her hearing.

  16. I don't necessarily disagree with what you typed. But if she plans to use a government position to promote a religion, that is very much a problem. If she plans to use a seat on the Supreme Court to "create a kingdom of God" rather than "uphold the Constitution" she isn't qualified.

Now....he's a finely tuned speaker and debater that is so good the mostest amazingly smart person the world has ever seen....one who knows all the bigly words.....is commenting on how good Biden is before the debates?

  22. The Republicans have declared all-out war against liberalism. From the day Obama was elected when they held their "obstruct everything" meeting, to the dozens of attacks on the ACA to the blocking of Gorsuch to the perpetuation of the Electoral College to everything they've bowed & scraped to with Trump, to packing the lower courts and now this Supreme Court nomination, they've swamped their way to win after win. In just the manner that most Conservatives claim they hate, through political manipulation, back-door deals and the like. They're forcing the liberals to go to even greater lengths simply to succeed as the majority party. So when there are 11 or 13 justices on the Supreme Court, and when DC and Puerto Rico are states, they can blame themselves.

  30. 2012 is when I began feeling the hump was more like a 100ft wall. By the end I was ready for a change, but I'd went so All In on Bo my fandom took a major hit because the following hire was so uninspiring.

  31. I'm still disappointed Bo didn't work out. I wanted him to succeed here really, really bad. For all the bad behavior and blowout losses though, I think his ultimate failing was development. I never really felt the same about the program he ran following that 2010 season. It started to feel like a team just sort of going through the paces, never really reaching their potential but also never falling far from it. Basically like getting a B average over and over again.

  34. Trump trying to run the same game plan against Biden as he did with Hillary is dumb. Weird that the greatest deal-maker of all time doesn't have another plan ready to roll, but here we are. Also, yet more proof that Hillary was just such an unlikeable person that she scuttled her own campaign as much as the Comey letter ever did.

  40. I feel every team that beat Wisconsin last season either had fewer mistakes on special teams or didn't give anything away at all. I don't feel Illinois game Wisconsin any cheap KORs nor great starting field position. Ohio State generslly did the same the 1st time and had some game altering ST plays in Indy. Oregon gave up a TD but also capitalized on a mistake by WI's punter, but that was after the game had wore on and it was evident Wisconsin was in a fight and wasn't going to bully them. Its imperative Nebraska is at least solid on ST where they aren't giving away chippies to teams such as Iowa and Wisconsin that like to play risk management style football.
