  1. I didn't realize it was Ohio State v Penn State next week. In poker, if you can't figure out who the sucker is at the table, you're the sucker. In CFB, if you can't find the tune-up game on the schedule, you're the tune-up game.

  3. And I don't want to sound like a prude, but what is with the "Trump 2020/No More Bulls*!t" signs. I curse, but don't do it in front of my kids. My oldest is 10. She can read that sign, neighbor. You are a retired late 70ish couple with a Mother Mary statue in your front yard too. What are you doing?

  7. Coach Frost giving us a subtle hint in the Presser today @ 15:41 "Adrian's a great human being on top of being a good player..Luke McCaffery is a great human being on top of being a really good player..." Luke is better. Ok. Maybe I'm reading into it a bit too much.

  8. I said I'm not sure, which is the only true answer. As usual you found some allied media telling you what you wanted to hear, and that's your 'truth'' so you call everyone else names.

  10. I think I'm in the minority with this train of thought, but I don't necessarily view kids who transfer as quitters. They're adults who get to make decisions, just in the same way that if you have the chance at moving to a different job where the pay is the same but the opportunities far outweigh your current position's possibilities, nobody ever says you're a quitter in the workplace for moving to the other job. I think we just see it as "being a quitter" as emotional fans of our teams. That said, I don't believe Luke will unseat a healthy Martinez at any point. And that'll be fine for Luke, because he'll then have the opportunity to be a two-year starter of a good program with a lot of experience under his belt (as long as Smothers doesn't beat him out).

  13. Seems like Frost is playing his cards in order to avoid another Gebbia situation. The chances seem high that Luke will be the starter by year's end.

  16. It will be interesting to see how the Buckeyes perform this year. I think they have a really bad taste in their mouth from the end of last season and they have something to prove. However, the way the other conferences have performed, it looks like just about anyone has a shot in some of these games. Good luck to the Huskers this year.

  19. So I guess they are blocking off O street to let people drink on the streets after getting their booze from the bars. I had this idea 10 years ago! So it took Covid to make it happen when they could have been basking in this idea for years! Gameday. Close off R street so the frats can party outside and fans can party. close off O street so the bars can sell and fans can party outside.

  20. I'm gonna guess that "the news" came from the fact that you missed a lot of practice, and even your head coach was saying he hoped you'd be playing this fall.

  21. Wait...am I having a severe brain fart? Martinez is a junior. Luke is a redshirt freshman. Therefore, regardless of the "free year" this year, Luke will get two years of eligibility even after Martinez plays a hypothetical super senior fifth year...right? huskers.com lists Luke as a redshirt freshman.

  24. I honestly think this team starts to turn a slight corner. But this year is sooo goofy, I dont know if that will equal to wins. Ohio State - L Wisconsin - L Northwestern - W Penn St. - L Illinois - W Iowa - L Purdue - W Minnesota - W 4-4 would be a success in my mind. You have to win the 3 games you can win/ NW, IL, PUr. Iowa/MN/WI could all be potential wins if our offense can be explosive. This could also very easily be a 1-7 season.

  25. If it makes you feel better the odds you run into a cougar are next to none. I've lived in Montana and Wyoming my entire life and camp a ton and I think I've seen two off in the distance. Also, this cougar isn't stalking that guy it's likely a mother trying to scare him away from her babies hidden somewhere. If a cougar is stalking you, you'll never even know until it's too late.

  26. Some of those "head scratching decisions" weren't on him if you look at the film. Have a receiver run the wrong route and the QB looks terrible... I do agree with the shorter leash statement but I think AM takes too much of the blame.

  29. Nothing on that hard drive can be considered real. That's been extensively explained HERE. Reporters in the NY Post newsroom expressed serious doubts about the story before it was published. And this was all pushed by Steve Bannon & Rudy Guiliani, with Rupert Murdoch's blessing. This is all Keystone Kops level nonsense. Even a cursory examination of the hard drive shows it can't have been Hunter Biden's. We know they're going to try another "but her emails" October surprise. We know they're targeting Hunter Biden. This couldn't be more ignorantly transparent. Sure, the cult will believe it, but there aren't enough members in the cult to elect Trump. So what's the point? To sow disinformation and make a Biden presidency as difficult as possible? Even for these guys, this is weak. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  30. No argument from me there, I've been saying LBs are my biggest concern on D for a few years now. Hell, I've even said that I wouldn't be surprised if Ruud is on the hotseat this year. But I still think that some have given Barry a liiitle more flack than he deserved.

  32. I'm not saying this to slight Luke or say that he can't have drastically improved to the point he could win the job outright. If he really has improved to that point as a passer, then we should be ecstatic because we are going to have an excellent quarterback. But last year they basically had Luke running a glorified version of the Wildcat. He had a sweep play, a read-option play, a handful of screen passes, a shovel pass, a three-step play and then a heavy play action deep-shot play off the sweep action (that he threw both his touchdowns on). Frost called it a "package" and it really was just that: a handful of plays outside of the normal structure of the offense to be run with Luke specifically in the game. He was not trusted in games to run the full playbook and was not asked to make complex reads of coverage as Martinez and Vedral were. Luke looked incredibly explosive in this limited package and it was nearly enough to beat Indiana, which is great, but this is kind of a classic example of a small sample size: a guy with nine pass attempts in favorable conditions being compared to a guy who has had over 600 attempts to show us his flaws. If Luke had been/is the full-time starter, he would have been asked to make those complex coverage reads and would have had to make some throws to receivers without three yards of separation, and he would have shown some warts, and possibly (probably, even) a lot more than Martinez. It's very easy to get mad at Martinez for the dumb interception against Purdue or the dumb out-of-bounds decision on the final drive against Iowa because we've seen it and can hold it against him; it's likewise very easy to believe Luke wouldn't do the same thing because we truly haven't seen how he would respond in that same environment so everything is theoretical.
