  1. Nebraska just played a team with a legit case for the #1 ranking. This is an awful take.

  2. I’ll start off by saying that you cannot win with the Likes of Liewer, Kade, and Falck out there. Robinson was double teamed every play. Throw Betts, Flemming, Brown, and or Hickman to the wolves. They are the future. Nebraska is a true feast or famine team under Frost. Especially on offense. DL was impressive. Secondary got exposed and is now out for game two. This needs to never happen again. Especially the targeting.

  4. I learned that a lot of posters gave up on this team before the game started. I learned our offense is gonna put up a lot of points this season. I learned our defense is going to be pretty decent, unless they're facing the equivalent of an NFL team. I learned that Big 10 officiating is a ducking joke.

  5. I’m encouraged after the game to be honest. O line blocked well. The D Line didn’t get pushed around. Both sides showed they control the line of scrimmage at times. The Defense tackled well. The kickers looked good. Need to work getting a little more pressure on QB. I’m not convinced the DB play was as bad as it looked. Team still is no where near good enough to overcome turnovers and penalties. Ohio State is without question the better team, but this game was closer than the score.

  7. - Frost said multiple times that Manning transforms our offense. I believe it 100%. Get him back in the fold and I think our offense will be unfair. - OLine looked as good as I expected to be honest. Can see why our offense was tough to stop in camp. Running the ball with Mills more and controlling the clock would have made me happy but still a good showing in my opinion. - Disappointed in the secondary. I can see why our WRs gave them trouble in camp. About as negative of a thing as I’ll say though. - Front 7 looks good. I think we can play more young guys when the talent is there. Ty Robinson looks like a MAN. I think we are going to give Wisconsin a fight and just might win the thing.

  8. We are a lot better team this year.. We aren't elite yet, but we are going to be good. I think people underestimate how different this game look if we have the talent edge at even ONE position on the field.. We don't. We played every down like men for the first time in 15 years. That will go light years against mortal teams this season.

  9. I seriously don't understand anyone looking at today's game negatively: Our biggest question mark entering this year was the defensive line, and a brand-new two-deep looked better and more stout against a top-5 team than they did against anyone with a pulse last year Martinez hung in the pocket and stepped up instead of bailing to the right every time he felt pressure. Also looked like a much more effective runner than last year. Luke looked like a legit weapon with the ball in his hands and we appear to have a creative plan to use him in a variety of roles Offensive line at times *moved* a really talented OSU defensive line The secondary paid for our very clear schematic decision to sell-out against the run which made the numbers look a lot better than maybe the level of play. OSU has a top-five-NFL-pick quarterback and like eight future-NFL-pick receivers so getting upset about our corners getting beat seems very silly. Pass rush was inconsistent, but that's better than non-existent, like it has been the last few years against anyone with a pulse Linebackers appeared to have actual run fits and executed them reasonably well Team played physical as hell and seemed to care a lot more than it has at any point in the last five years There were some negatives. Those receivers are not going to get open against any even decent secondary. Somehow the snaps are still a problem. Fumbles and penalties. I'm not sure either of the QBs can throw the ball consistently. But people seem to be b!^@hing a lot about how the box score looks against an essentially NFL team instead of looking at how the game actually went and appeared before our eyes. I think that's pretty dumb.

  10. I think we had more tackles for loss in this game than we did in the three previous games against Ohio State.

  12. I would love to see a game against a Top 10 team where Nebraska does the following: 1) not turn the ball over 2) 5 or less penalties 3) Stop the opposing team 90% of the time when defending a 3rd and plus 10 yards. Nebraska does those three SIMPLE things and Nebraska will stop losing games by over 30 points every year. until then, well I think we all know what will continue to happen.

  13. We are better. Period. Redshirting and S&C are showing significant progress as Frost establishes the program. Martinez and Warner are captains. Warner has to catch that TD and Martinez can not fumble. We have the opportunity to win every game remaining.

  14. If you watched that first half after the last 3 years and you don't think Nebraska is getting better you need to just stop watching for sure.

  15. I’m not sure what people expected this game. Ohio State is one of the best teams in the country. NU played well at times, and played poorly at times. It wasn’t a complete s#!t show like last year. I think NU matched up well physically against Ohio State at times.

  16. You cannot judge much from this game due to the gigantic discrepancy in talent, other than to say the team played hard, shot itself in the foot a few times, and the Big Ten is a corrupt institution.

  17. Eh ... after you get the holding penalty and not really getting anything down the field, it's better to regroup than try to force something and turning it over right before half.

  18. It's great to see Frost smile. After all he's dealt with this year, that's a hugely positive sign. I think people underestimate how difficult the past two years have been for him personally.

  19. Man, I can't see the blackshirts doing anything in this game. The LBers are going to be abused.

  20. Is it just me or does this bolster the idea that he had a positive COVID test and is about to clear the sit-out period? Need this guy against Wiscahnsin.

  21. I agree...I almost think this game showed that NU isn't all that bad at all.

  24. We need Omar like a Diabetic needs insulin. I really, really, really hope he can play next week. Love Kade and Wandale but they need a big dog to stretch out the defense.

  25. Targeting is ruining the game. Kicking kids out of a game for a borderline call is stupid and it is changing the outcome of some games as well as the following game. Nebraska was a lot more physical this year. They need to be able to throw the ball down the field. If Ohio State can't find a RB that can run the ball, they aren't going to win a NC. The freshman WRs are going to be very good.

  26. Ohio State could have the best offense in the country. I’m gonna give it a few more games before making a judgement on Nu’s D.

  27. I'm not happy, but I'm not disappointed, either. Too many of Ohio State's TDs were gift wrapped, but on some of them, it was the officials doing the wrapping. Honestly, the defense as a whole looked better than I expected against what is probably one of the best offenses in the country. Obviously we still need a lot more from the WRs, hopefully Manning provides that spark we need. OL didn't look too bad. Losing two defenders on questionable targeting calls suuucks, and is gonna suck again next week.

  28. Chris Heady has a great tweet after the game. NU competed with Ohio State for 27 minutes, and then looked like the same team of the last 3 years. The question is “which one is NU’s team this year?”

  29. -The BIG is out for us -I'm shocked we didn't see more downfield passing or a reliance on our RBs -Our front 7 has the chance to be exceptional. Shocked at the improvement at OLB. -Our DBs aren't as bad as the stats show. That was a lot of talent at WR for them -Really happy with how guys responded to adversity

  32. My hot take from this game: I think there is a chance we play OSU again in the plus one week.

  33. So far the refs have helped two drives for the Buckeyes. Each ending in a TD. They’ve also hurt a Huskers drive. We’re talking a potential 21 point swing. This game is far from over, and our boys are looking good.

  35. We needed to play a near perfect game to keep this close. Too many mistakes (bad QB fumbles, bad pass to Warner in endzone, can't get off field on 3rd down) and horrible officiating- we aren't good enough to over come. Things I learned: We are more physical and stronger ...and still too slow. We must not have any WR besides Wan'Dale- that has to be a roster management issue doesn't it? It's year 3. I did like the TE pass game. We can't generate a pass rush in our base D. When we brought extra pressure we got home, but we don't have pass rush difference makers on the DL or at OLB right now. HOW WERE THEIR RECEIVERS THAT OPEN? That had to be scheme right? I try to stay out the the 'fire the coaches' crowd but in year 3 Chins has to show me more than he has. Both QB fumbles were nonsense. I think HCSF opened the door for Luke to take over at QB and he didn't help himself enough. It makes me happy to see Tompkins run the ball after all he's been through. Give the kid more reps. Looked good. We have to have someone younger that should be taking Miller's job by end of season. I get tired of watching him get outran. Honas looked pretty good. Officiating was dildos. Question: Do we have a QB controversy? What was wrong with Reimers?

  36. Here are my takes on this game: (1) despite the final score, I do feel that this team has improved tremendously since last year (2) we continue to commit way too many fouls that are really costly. In three occasions, the penalties killed promising drives and in many other occasions they resulted in free yards for Ohio st. We have been one of the most heavily penalized teams in the Big Ten (3) the zebras were unfair pieces of s#$t. When the main referee gets caught on camera saying “wow” repeatedly on a perfectly legal hit, you know he has already made up his mind that he is an Ohio st fan. However, this is not new, the referees in the BIG have not been fair to us since joining so by now we need to learn to play smart and not give them reasons to hurt us. (4) our defense had moments of brilliance sacking the QB and causing second and very long but only to let Ohio st get a first down after that. They need to take advantage of their success. (5) Martinez is looking much better and does seem that the competition has helped him get better. I do like the idea of playing both QBs and keeping them involved. This will give us the edge in many games (6) the team attitude seems right and they look like they are closer as a team than last year (7) based on what I saw, I strongly believe that we have a very good chance to finish 5-3 and a decent shot at 6-2, which will be a great improvement from last year given our tough schedule. (8) for the first time in a very long time, I feel we are on the right track (9) the targeting fouls against us were complete and utter BS.

  37. I said in the presser thread we could lose by 28 and still have all our goals ahead of us, still feel the same way. I love reacting to Husker games, but this is like losing to Nebraska in the 90s, take our loss and move on, just like 125 other teams would do against OSU. Next week is our measuring stick. Can’t let Wisconsin have their way with us with a mediocre rushing O and freshman QB. I have high expectations for next week and won’t lower them just because we got licked by an elite team.

  38. There were moments where the defense was flying around like I have not really seen in a while. The offense is suspect...very inconsistent and need to work on ball security with the QB (unacceptable by AM!) The BIG is a joke and two players are going to have miss playing because of it....just watched a worse hit in the Alabama/Tennessee game and the player is still in the game. UNREAL!

  39. I don't understand people complaining about the pass rush. We were getting to fields and had what 4 sacks and one more that was called incorrectly. Fields also broke tackles for what would have been a few more. It wasnt great but looked like big improvement vs a good oline.

  40. What happened in 3 minutes of going down 17-14 was the mental game changer for us. We never recovered.

  41. NU is good enough in the trenches on both sides to go 6-2 or 5-3. Little surprised with our secondary and wide receivers- but hopefully OSU is just that good. Afraid that the big10 will continue to give us the shaft (not talking about opponents players)

  42. I hate when QBs miss WR right through their hands. It wasn't perfect but should have been caught.

  44. Frost needs to call out the Big Joke and their refs

  45. I think the most infuriating thing about this game is that OSU doesn’t need the help from the refs to beat us, they’re clearly the better team. And yet there is clear bias in how penalties are being called. How every call on the field goes OSU’s way. We probably lose in a fairly called game, but at least it would look competitive.

  46. This game isn't going how we hoped, but lets look at the bigger picture. We're more physical up front, on both sides of the ball. We can run the ball consistently and stop the run. We'll be in every game on the schedule the rest of the year. We'll need to develop the younger more athletic talent at WR, and get them on the field. That is extremely clear. Playing in empty stadiums, and the boost that provides in the ability to communicate on the field should make this more feasible this year than in "normal" years. Don't know what we're gonna do in regards to pass defense. Every team won't have Fields and OSUs receivers, so I would hope we see more physical play in the secondary and not just free releases and 10 yard cushions 90% of the time. Adrian is just Adrian. I'm not ready to can him just yet, but damn. I'd like to see what kind of arm Luke has though, just to see where we are. Side note, I really hated the off-season narrative that the QB battle reinvigorated Adrian's fire. I don't like guys who only fight when they're backed into a corner. I'd rather have a guy whose got the dog in him regardless of circumstances. We've made significant strides from the end of last year to today. That growth doesn't stop, we'll continue to improve week to week.
