  1. Remember that period from like 15 months ago until 2 months ago when some people thought he'd already boosted his reputation as a QB enough to be named starter? Good times.

  3. Here is an example: Trump Administration’s Proposed Rule Would Perpetuate Racist and Discriminatory Housing Practices | Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (cbpp.org) An Incomplete—and Very Long—List of the Most Racist Policies the Trump Administration Has Tried to Enact (couriernewsroom.com) On Twitter, Trump wrote: “I am happy to inform all of the people living their Suburban Lifestyle Dream that you will no longer be bothered or financially hurt by having low income housing built in your neighborhood.” In case there was any confusion about who the Trump administration was talking about, Trump War Room, a Twitter account managed by his campaign, tweeted a series of mugshots on August 11 of Black Americans who had been accused of crimes. On August 12, Trump doubled down on his appeal to suburban housewives, assuring them that his policies would keep their property safe from low-income housing. He also suggested that Cory Booker (D-NJ), a Black senator, would be in charge of low-income housing policy under a Joe Biden administration.

  4. That Atlantic article also jogged a memory about the post-Charlottesville reaction. At first, Trump failed to repudiate the racist march. Under pressure, he then read a prepared release strongly condemning white supremacism. The next day he was supposed to make a major announcement about infrastructure, perhaps the one issue in America everyone could agree on. That's where Trump went off-page, hijacked his own infrastructure announcement, and made the "good people on both sides" statement. Apparently he hated making the second statement strongly condemning white supremacism because he thought it made him look weak. That's your man, Archy.

  5. Here's the deal with Donald Trump. It's narcissism first. Everything else second. If you're Black and willing to say something nice about him, he'll invite you and Kim Kardashian to the Oval Office, or maybe make you an ineffective HUD secretary. If you're a Latino and you say something nice about him, his daughter will hawk your brand of canned beans to the media. If you're a North Korean dictator and you say something nice about him, he'll let you have whatever you want. But if your most loyal base is white and fearful, you'll tell them everything they want to hear. You will literally build walls instead of bridges to prove it. And you are loathe to condemn anyone who supports you. The Ku Klux Klan and the Proud Boys were never fazed by the tepid statements someone drafted for Trump. Rightwing extremists believed that for the first time in their lives, they had one of their own in the White House. So at the end of the day, Trump's most fervent loyalists were out in force, willing to overthrow the government in order to keep him in office. In that moment, his legacy on the line, Donald Trump could not have been more clear how he felt about the Confederates, Nazi's, QAnon whack jobs, and Camp Auschwitz jokesters that carried his banner: "You're special. We love you." Narcissist first. Racist second. But still a racist.

  6. Man- RESEARCH before you post. This guy is one of your own. Will Wilkinson (born 1973) is an American writer who currently serves as Vice President of Policy at the Niskanen Center.[1] Until August 2010, he was a research fellow at the Cato Institute where he worked on a variety of issues including Social Security privatization and, most notably, the policy implications of happiness research.[2] Wilkinson was also the managing editor of the Cato Institute's monthly web magazine, Cato Unbound. Previously, he was Academic Coordinator of the Social Change Project and the Global Prosperity Initiative at The Mercatus Center at George Mason University, and, before that, he ran the Social Change Workshop for Graduate Students for The Institute for Humane Studies. His political philosophy is described by The American Conservative magazine as "Rawlsekian"; that is, a mixture of John Rawls's principles and Friedrich von Hayek's methods.[3] Wilkinson formerly described his political views as libertarian, but he now rejects that label.[4] Biography[edit] Wilkinson was born in Independence, Missouri, and grew up in Marshalltown, Iowa. He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 1995, received an M.A. in philosophy from Northern Illinois University in 1998, and did work toward a Ph.D. at the University of Maryland.[citation needed] In 2009 Wilkinson gained Canadian citizenship via his father, a Canadian expatriate in America, whose Canadian citizenship was reinstated following a change in Canadian emigration law.[5] In 2015, Wilkinson completed his MFA studies at the University of Houston. 7. If he told Luke, "Hey, we gave you an honest-to-god shot at quarterback, but it's not working out and we could really use you contributing to this team at another position where we think you could really excel" and Luke bails, then that's not really on Frost and I'm not that mad. It will still deeply suck, but you have to be able to have honest convos with players about where they stand for better or worse.

  13. An example of Trump supporter thought process: Something bad about Trump said anonymously: It's not true, person won't stand by their statement Something bad about Trump said on the record: It's not true, said person has an axe to grind Something bad about Trump said by someone formerly loyal to Trump: It's not true, that person is a traitor Something bad about Trump said by Trump recorded and verified: It's not true, that's not what he meant, it's being taken out of context, oh he also said the opposite once. Something bad about Trump seen with their own eyes: It's not true, even if it was the ends justify the means.

  19. None of the oil from the Keystone XL Pipeline is destined for America. It's too dirty to use in the US under Bush-era guidelines. The oil would have to be refined here, then shipped overseas. America is a pass-through for this stuff, and Canadian oil companies are getting the American government to declare eminent domain and take our farmers' land. My wife's uncle helped build a couple of the pipelines that exist in Nebraska now. The whole promise of "thousands" of jobs is laughable. A couple hundred dudes work on a pipeline, and they don't hire new people for every mile. Maybe a few new ones state to state, but at most we're talking a thousand jobs, and likely far fewer. I have no idea why American politicians ever agreed to this pipeline. But I can guess, and it's not a charitable guess. And I haven't even touched on the environmental impact of the spills. Those typically get hushed up, but they destroy land every year. You edited to add the "LOL" at the top, and I'm not sure why...

  20. Support all of it. Being involved with the Paris accord is a good thing. We can have input. The only people who would agree with this are people who don't believe in climate change or science. Total BS on the Keystone pipeline. Those are temporary jobs. Moscow Mitch must love seeing a foreign country and company taking land away from American land owners with very little long term benefit to this country, Maybe his name needs to be changed to Ottawa Mitch. Immigration? How about Mitch start working on a comprehensive immigration package instead of complaining about this. His attitude towards this needs it's own thread. The fear mongering over amnesty is pathetic and simple minded towards our problems.

  24. Carson was a useful idiot for trump, but he fit the pattern of putting people in mismatched positions. Most of trump's appointees either worked in a field they had little experience in, or they headed a department they were openly hostile to. The goal was chaos across government, so right-wingers could perpetuate their belief in the dysfunction of all government.

  37. I said yes on all but 3 which I was torn on: Instead of canceling the expansion of immigration enforcement and canceling the boarder wall construction at this time, I prefer they move quickly on a comprehensive immigration reform package - giving a pathway to citizenship for all and also addressing the DACA issue with citizenship. The plan would include the wall and enforcement efforts as well. Perhaps I don't understand what the expansion of immigration enforcement was under Trump, put I think our laws need to be enforced as written or amended by a comprehensive plan if out of date or burdensome. I think this is the time to move quickly on a compressive plan while there is a spirit of cooperation (or so I hope) and where the parties have to work together in the Senate has to get things done. Throwing EOs at the problem either by Trump or by Biden just makes this a continual pendulum swing that needs to end once and for all. I think it is a mistake to stop the Keystone Pipeline. However the 2nd part of that EO was to review the 100s of other Trump environmental actions - which I agree with. So I voted no on that one just for the sake of the pipeline. That oil will now most likely head west to Asian countries instead of coming to the world's largest oil storage facility just west of Tulsa in Cushing, Ok. The pipeline also has been a pendulum swinging object over 3 administrations if not 4. While we press for more environmentally friendly options, we still need to maintain our energy freedom from Middle East oil (and their wars) and the pipeline is one cog in that wheel.

  41. One of Biden's primary responsibilities as he settles in as President is to undo the damage done by Trump. That includes getting rid of corrupt cronies that Trump appointed. Drain the swamp, as it were. Just hearing the name of the agency: US Agency for Global Media, and knowing Trump's disdain for journalism and only being appreciative of pro-Trump propaganda, in addition to his well-known record of propping up unqualified and/or corrupt stooges into important positions, should create enough doubt on its own about this guy staying in his position. But here is some more information about Michael Pack; he sounds like a typical Trump appointee for sure. https://www.npr.org/sections/inauguration-day-live-updates/2021/01/20/958875488/voice-of-america-ceo-pack-defined-by-scandal-resigns-at-bidens-request
