  2. One son can't throw a football and the other son can't catch a football. Maybe the dads are the ones that failed.

  3. Looks like Red Rogue's prediction thread about a mass exodus which was locked and in which he was flamed endlessly is becoming more factual every day. Thanks' for the heads up Red Rogue.

  4. *RUMOR* Mass Exodus Coming - "We'll unlock if said 'exodus' emerges." ....said exodus has emerged.

  5. Well one thing Frost had been successful at is flipping the roster. Twice.

  6. The only playing Kade would be doing this year is at the bench warming position. There are much better WRs on the roster

  7. Yes if you remove all context things do seem different. That's a good point

  8. I mean ... the defensive guys coming back are pretty much all starters. The offensive guys entering the portal (except Wan'Dale) are probably all guys that are not going to see the field. That seems like a notable distinction.

  9. Catching touchdown passes and not throwing interceptions are two steps to a better culture. Maybe next we can hear what Chad May thinks.

  10. So far the portal seems like a cluster f#&% and net negative for CFB.

  11. Maybe he should have tweeted at his own son to catch the fricken football in the end zone when wide open.

  12. Meh, lots of fans loved the "adjust to us quote" at the time, and if I recall correctly it was more like "I hope they'll have to adjust to us" which is more of a commitment to his offensive style than it is a declaration of greatness. And the kicking line was a joke - they do spend a lot of time at practice not doing anything, if you punt and kick field goals for 2 hours straight every day you're not going to have the leg to be effective on Saturday. I posted it above, but the team has improved. If the W/L doesn't start to match the rankings in the next few years I'll be concerned, but backups transferring has no real impact on my views at the moment.

  13. Also, take away the names and tell me you're worried about this walking out the door: 4* athlete/qb who did average 5.6 YPC, 3 TDs and 2 fumbles lost on 65 carries. Went 48/76 for 466 yards, 1 TD and 6 INTs as a passer. Walk-on receiver, voted a captain. 30 catches for 236 yards over 3 years. No TDs. 3* OL who appeared in 4 games (no starts) over 3 years None of them were going to start, and they all have some talent. Like others have said, take away the names and it's not surprising or a big deal. Warner being a captain does make it bigger than his production/talent would imply, but it was a weird year and he does all the right things. Not intended to be a knock on him, but if the coaches selected captains I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have been one - they tend to balance leadership and expected role on the team, where I think the players voted just based on the former (and lack of established playmakers on offense). Nebraska SP+ rankings 2012 - 23rd 2013 - 54th 2014 - 31st 2015 - 48th 2016 - 46th 2017 - 103rd 2018 - 56th 2019 - 55th 2020 - 32nd Hate on the measures all you want - saying he hasn't improved the team is at best arguable, and in my opinion wrong. With the above and other stats supporting. Yeah, yeah - wins are all that matters, I know. But W/L would tell you 2009 (SP+ ranking: 7th) and 2016 were roughly equivalent teams. They were not.

  14. You don't get to sign three four-star quarterbacks in back-to-back-to-back years and keep them all. Simple as that.

  15. Kade was targeted two time TOTAL after the Penn State game. Iowa was the only game after Penn State where he played more than 10 snaps. He was a veteran but other than that he belongs in the group with your last sentence.

  19. Hate to open this can of worms, but this is an ex-NFL QB so I'll throw it out there.

  21. The accepted narrative 1-2 years ago was that one of Luke or Adrian would transfer and not finish their college career at UNL. I'm getting a chuckle out of the people that now think this is some travesty or knock on Frost. Sure it would've been neat to see what LM could do at another position but apparently he wants to QB. I am past done caring about any specific player. We'll field a team with whoever is here. Next man up and no loyalty owed. That's what the portal is doing to CFB. I won't waste my breath wishing them well. If they are not here playing for us then they are against us. Simple.

  22. Yep...this will lead to the "young" excuse again next year if/when we only win 4 games.

  23. AD is a freak athlete that can turn into a fantastic player at the next level. Kobe Bretz perhaps may have been a better high school player. I’m taking AD at being a better college player. It would be unfortunate to lose him but we will manage. Let’s not try and claim he isn’t very good or is overhyped though. He has offers from everyone.

  24. Meh, he was being over dramatic. The only departure since the end of the season that sucks so far has been Wandale. McCaffrey has himelf brainwashed thinking he is a QB.

  27. Neither do I. I’m really starting to see this as a player/portal problem. kids either stay or they don’t. It’s like “whatever” at this point. What can you do if a freaking team captain who drops 4 td passes leaves? What can you do if a kid who was a star recruit who, by all eye test measures, will never be a good/great D1 QB but could be a real versatile college star just leaves? im just setting my mind as: ride or die with the kids who are here and want to be here. Not even gonna discuss guys who leave anymore.

  28. What I have heard...Luke wants to be a QB. He was never going to pass Adrian and Smothers was going to pass him. Frost asked him to consider WR. If he is unwilling to change positions, this is actually a good sign for the program. Smothers is developing.

  30. It's all going to boil down to whether or not Biden and the Democrats can govern effectively. They need to guide our country through this pandemic and get people back to work while minimizing the pain and suffering the country is going through in the meantime. If not the pull of Trumpism and fascism will be strong enough that democracy will crater soon after the next election. I really don't think the average Joe realizes how close we were to losing it all. Trump supporters think they would like him as the führer but of course, that never ends well.

  31. I don't think you ignore the portal. But, I personally would much rather just get good HS kids that want to be here, work hard and stay here. It's a little bit like marrying someone whose been divorced. Sure, there are lots of good reasons why someone gets divorced, but it's probably best to figure out why before you dive into a relationship with them. Sometimes they are divorced because of stuff out of their control. Sometimes, they are the problem. Sometimes they are the problem, realize it and have fixed the problem. PS....no offense to anyone who has been divorced.

  34. Do we need to repost games of Warner dropping passes or never getting separation since he was too slow? Or McCaffrey turning the ball over 1 every 17 touches for average? The guys were not good players. McCaffrey can run fast, but that is it.

  35. My concern is that LM and Kade have super bowl winning, pro bowl, Hall of Fame dads who supported the transfer. I'm trusting those two to have more knowledge on the direction/trajectory of the program and use of their kids than fans. Myself included. Not a good look to lose JD last year (most productive) and then Wan'dale this year (most productive) and LM, the guy Frost recently said was the future at NU. LM and Wan'dale, to varying degrees. were the face of this program......I do not have a good feeling moving forward. These were Frost's guys.....

  39. In August, if I were to tell you that we would win 3 games, and that Wandale and Luke would transfer at the end of the season you would be concerned. In fact, you would probably be alarmed. The lengths some are going to pretend like this doesn't matter is ...well....it takes a fan I guess. Also, if I were Will Farniok I would transfer. Spending 2 years backing up the shotgun snap version of wild thing in Major Leagues would piss me off.

  40. Yet, you know by game 2, next year there will be people all riled up demanding that he start.

  41. Normal or not, he hasnt improved the team. I am tired of the excuses for Frost. Every team had to deal with what the Huskers did. The lack of offense or growth or ability to call plays that work instead of the same plays over and over again. I dont think we can afford to fire Frost this year or probably even next year, but he has to approach this thing differently. He reminds me of Bo, only hiring yes men instead of bringing in guys who can actually coach and handing off some responsibilities. I hope he turns it around but we have seen enough out of the last 3 years to have major questions on Frost and his coaching ability.

  42. The mass exodus thread said Frosts ego was out of control and players were leaving because he couldnt communicate. I'll grant that Wandale was a big loss but these three players leaving because they were not going to get pt that will definitely not start at a p5 school hardly fits the implication of that post.

  43. I think some people gave @Red Rogue more crap than deserved. But that thread took on the connotation of Frost losing the team and players leaving because of that. It sucks to lose a player like Wandale. It sucks to lose depth at QB. It sucks to lose good locker room guys. But none of the departures seem to suggest that a significant portion of the roster is ready to abandon ship because they no longer have faith in the staff.

  44. Sad to see him go. Would have been our best returning ball carrier. Nothing but good luck to him. Showed nothing but class while he was here and visibly was an incredible teammate. Best of luck.

  45. To me, Luke leaving doesn't change the QB depth. If Smothers is as good as advertised, we should be fine. We would have 2AM, Smothers and a true freshman. Spring ball is VERY important to get done.

  46. Or.....the system could help them learn some valuable lessons like; evaluate your choices wisely, commitment, tenacity, over coming some adversity, the team concept as opposed to the individual. So many valuable life lessons they could learn and apply but no, if they don't like something, anything, about their situation then just quit and go elsewhere. The transfer portal- screwing up players and CFB since inception.

  47. There is 1600 and growing. A change of scenery? Stick with your commitment. I bet a good share of these guys never finish college. This will be a hard life lesson for most.
