  1. Man, you gotta tone down the faux outrage. "Disgusting by the administration" Pro and college sports participants are a drop in the bucket of who all needs to get vaccinated. There is absolutely no reason some of these groups, just like frontline and essential workers, can't also be prioritized. This isn't what is keeping grandpa and grandma from getting the shot. And, imo, providing the masses with the panacea of sports, in the midst of a pandemic where many activities are limited, is a good thing. I'd rather watch an NHL game than coverage of more street rioting or open insurrection. People be getting antsy.

  4. He is saying whatever allows him to maintain faux outrage with the Biden administration. It’s a waste of time trying to get all the pieces of his argument to make sense and fit together, he sure isn’t.

  5. College students today are what? 18-23 years old? They didn't agree to this system. They didn't get a say in how our society hires workers. They're caught in the trap of needing a degree to pursue certain fields. We need those fields to have a functioning society. There's nothing mutual about that.

  6. Actually we're not watching them anyway. My Avs team (along with many others from various sports) are regularly being postponed and cancelled. When you can show that vaccinating professional sports will delay more worthy recipients getting the vaccine, come back and show me. Also, I think it's laughable that this "disgusts" yet you have never once stated anything that Trump did disgusted you. I think that explains about all we need to know about exactly what things disgust you.

  9. And that's why I'm not predicting 7 or 8 wins. I'm simply saying that is how many wins there should be with this schedule. I just don't and won't ever look at teams like Purdue, Minnesota, Iowa, Northwestern and think they present some insurmountable challenge. I keep getting proven wrong about that but I'm not about to let my standards slip. I'll just keep on being depressed and disappointed. The last 20 years have prepared me well for yet another one

  10. You gotta admit, that's trump to a tee! Who would support that, right? I mean, I wouldn't knowingly vote for someone like that. Would you?

  12. With the amount of passing done in the NFL, it’s really more of a speed game than a size game. That’s not how it works in the Big Ten. Also, the guys you are pointing out at in the NFL because of their speed. You are totally cherry picking guys to make your point.

  14. I'll retract based on the logical assumption that no person in their right mind could not have not been disgusted by many of Trump's actions at some point. But I will also continue to believe that your posting history has a pronounced bias in significantly one direction. I just think it says a lot to claim to be disgusted about pro players being prioritized for vaccination, when it has not been shown to actually delay other groups. It pales in comparison to the multitude of truly disgusting things Trump and his administration have done.

  15. Agreed. I’m not against providing some level of assistance. I’m actually not even aware of what the Biden administration favors. But the solutions offered by the further left like Sanders are, imo, simplistic bailouts that only provide a very expensive short term fix. I just favor real solutions that fix the underlying problems and benefit everyone rather than completing bailing out those who agreed to the fiscal position they find themselves in. I don’t happen to believe a higher degree is the only way to make it in this world. But yeah, it sure can make the path easier. I didn’t complete my degree. I own a business, make six figures and am happy. My wife is in the same boat. Didn’t finish her degree yet worked as a computer systems administrator. My son has not finished his degree (which we are still trying to encourage otherwise) but he is gainfully employed and happy. My daughter just graduated UNL in December with a major in Business Admin and minors in math and economics. She is currently still working a PT internship but looking for full time employment. She has relatively little student debt because we paid a great portion of her education as incurred. But much of that expense did end up being shifted to our home mortgage, mostly because that interest rate was much more attractive than student or parent loan options. The only thing that would make me regret that decision would be if our government started writing off student loan balances for others. Anyway, this may all be anecdotal and TMI but I think it gives good insight into why I don’t personally feel a college degree is ultimately needed for society to function. We’re all functioning and getting by fine.

  16. I completely agree with the bold. I don't agree that the loan is mutually agreed upon, because of the bolded sentences. College students and recent grads at the center of the loan forgiveness discussion are at the mercy of the society you've correctly laid out. They will not get a job in any kind of advanced field without that degree. There's no negotiation, with either the hiring company or the school. So while we're working on fixing everything in the bold sentences, what do we do with the generation who's had to pay the insane tuition costs that we, as a society, demand they pay so they can enter the workforce to keep our society functional? You seem to bring up a fairness question when you talk about your recent grad. Is it fair to families like yours who have paid what you've paid? I don't think it is. But I don't think that's a compelling argument against fixing this problem, either. $1.7 trillion dollars in debt is a national crisis. I don't know that I advocate Biden's or the Dems' plan to fix it. But we do need to do something.

  17. This is a provably false statement. Looking forward to the retraction after you peruse my posting history.

  18. I don't think all these situations are apples to apples comparisons. But generally I think people should be held responsible for the choices they make. Subsidizing farmers can involve more gray areas. But subsidizing and completely wiping away debt aren't necessarily the same thing either. I'm for making education more affordable. I'm not for changing the terms after they have been mutually agreed upon.

  19. Do people feel the same way about student loan debt as they feel about other government bailouts, like for farmers?

  20. Lets let it play out first. MLB was going to play anyway. Why not get them vaccinated first? Longer, less interrupted season perhaps. As pointed out earlier, people need things in life like baseball. Can help us all come together again. I can't imagine Biden would allow pro athletes to get priority over at-risk individuals in any case. The administration probably feels confident the supply will be good. IF these last two sentences turn out to be false, then we can get p!ssed.

  21. Ain’t that the truth. I thought they were supposed to be parody?

  22. Probably not. Productive members of society aren’t their thing. You don’t fit the description of voters to pander to. Whiny a$$h@!es with useless college degrees and lots of private college debt are in their wheelhouse.

  27. So apparently Biden's Senior administration requested MLB Baseball to delay the season a month. Major League Baseball Players Association opted out of a call with senior Biden administration officials "Administration officials reportedly told MLB they were confident in their ability to vaccinate players in time for the delayed season due to the expected introduction of the new Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which is expected to be filed for FDA approval within a week." (MLB, NFL, NCAA, NBA, NHL) have been playing in 2020 and into 2021. We all know the priority for the shots are people in the medical/health field and the elderly. So why would MLB millionaires get access and priority over American's already pre-qualified by CDC? Why shut it down, Joe? Call it a "delay" I guess.

  29. Pretty much how I feel. If we can somehow turn ST from poor to good I think that equals 2 wins. Cut the penalties and TO's to avg for the West at worst, and I think that nets 1-2 more wins. Granted, these are two big IFs for next year, but they can happen. Get those things figured out and we're right back in the hunt for the West and we're all happy again.

  30. f#&%ing awful. I’m not kidding when I say big 10 has pretty much ruined Husker athletics for me. Our style doesn’t fit in in football, we’re not good enough to be a factor in basketball, and they don’t give a s#!t about baseball. Changing conferences was dumb as s#!t minus the money - which the average fan could care less about.

  31. As I said with the hindsight of The Me Too movement; he was a man in power abusing his office to seduce a young staffer. It was morally wrong and an abuse of the office of President. In the 90s it wasn't that big of a deal. Today we know because of the power dynamic it is a big deal. Times change. He lied under oath about the affair. There should be consequences for any government official lying under oath.

  32. Its hard for us who lived the glory years to comprehend how the team has fallen so far. Who'd have thought Bo's 9 win average would be a goal we hoped for? That said, I do think a "no bowl" season would be hard, very hard to swallow. I, like many, am tired of excuses and below mediocrity. Sadly, the entire men's athletics department is at below mediocrity with the exception of wrestling and baseball. There's simply "no" excuse for not being a top 25 football team. NONE

  33. I'm right in between kool aid drinker and stumpy at the moment. I see 3-9 until proven otherwise, I have been guessing over by 3-5 wins every year of Frost so fool me no more. That Illinois game is huge. Win that and Buffalo, momentum might kick in. Lose to Illinois and uh oh part 4.

  34. If this were to happen. Regardless of whether it’s right or wrong, would you agree that Trump brought a lot of it on himself with his gaslighting? I don’t recall the Clintons engaging in name calling and actively creating political division on pretty much a daily basis. Politics aside, how you treat people matters. And it should.

  37. I have one graduating in May. Where did yours go? Mine is at KState. All in for a year of school, including living is roughly $17,000. Times 4 is $68,000 and that’s paying full freight. No scholly, no CC, no living at home if it’s possible. Who can’t work While going to school during the year and make $12,000? I know mine did. Times 4 is $48,000 pre tax and tax bill at that income is next to nothing. Now we get to the hard part. 68,000-48,000= $20,000 in debt. And that’s paying full freight. Go to CC your first two years and you are under $10,000 in debt MAX. There is your Reality Check.

  42. I think it’s situational. Since he is a narcissist he thinks it isn’t possible he could have lost to Biden, or it’s more that it just can’t register for him because it would shatter his brain. So he’ll latch onto all these conspiracy theories and if someone else tells him something that puts him in a positive light he will believe it. So when he spreads the lie I believe that he believes it. For a time I thought it was a ploy, and it worked the same way as one, but I think he believes the election was stolen from him.

  43. Mind you, it’s been a couple months since I’ve had my eyes opened by this team but that schedule looks to me like a 7 win floor, 8 legitimately expected and a ceiling of 10 wins. You guys can talk about 1 or 3 or 5 wins all you want. If I don’t see 7 or more this year, things aren’t on the right track. And don’t get me wrong, I’m not drinking the red Kool-Aid. After the last handful of years, I would be much more surprised if they actually attained my 7 win floor than if they turned in a 2 win stinker. No more excuses. No more sunshine. Start winning of stfu.
