  2. I 100% agree, but I also find comments like Graham's irritating (from the article): It feels like just another half-assed attempt to kick the can down the road and avoid acknowledging reality for as long as possible. Everybody should ask themselves a few simple questions: had Trump handled the post-election process with humility, professionalism, and facts, had Trump not passionately rallied his supporter base to believe in a falsely stolen election, and had he not held a rally where he encouraged angry supporters to march on the Capitol during the electoral confirmation process, does the riot happen? The answer should be an unequivocal 'no.' I realize a commission will be looking at a lot of other things (including safety procedures and the like) but this wouldn't have happened if Trump hadn't behaved the way he behaved. Most Republicans know this. Many appear too afraid or cautious to acknowledge it.

  3. According to 247, he is the #1 JUCO prospect in the country for the 2022 class. Of course, he also appears to be the only JUCO prospect they've rated for that class, but let's not get caught up in the details.

  4. Pretty clear none of you have watched The Saint with Val Kilmer and Elizebeth Shue. The answer to all of this is cold fusion...or maybe it is dressing up in really bad disguises while fooling all of Russia.

  5. Checks thread...yep, I'm in the right thread. Anyone supporting Trump and his actions over the past four years is supporting a demagogue and wannabe tyrant over democracy and free and fair elections. That's not hyperbole, that's fact. Further more the Republican Party has shown zero indication that it wants to reform itself. In fact, it is doubling down on Trumpism and Marjorie Taylor Greenism as shown by the support of one who would destroy our democracy by overturning an undisputed election in a violent fashion. Call it what you will but that is distain for democracy in favor of raw power. Simply because the rank and file can't see this doesn't give them a pass. Ignorance is no defense. Now if you want to discuss the Democrats assault on democracy, it probably should be done in another thread.

  7. Interesting stats. I really wish we could have played them this year. We started off the year against OSU and held them to 215 yards rushing. In that game, both our line's looked better than they did last year. I was really looking forward to see what we could do against Wisky.

  14. FWIW, I agree on your comments about renewable energies. But, IIRC, spent fuel rods drop to one-thousandth of their radioactivity within a few decades of beings spent, so the risks decrease significantly. And there's a strong consensus right now in the international scientific community about the safety and of long term prospects of radioactive waste storage in geological repositories. Ultimately, I think a lot of the nuclear waste storage worries are overblown, but I'm not married to nuclear as the future and would prefer we look toward renewables.

  16. Yes, I noted that there are challenges both technologically and politically. I strongly disagree. We literally have no materials that can guarantee containment for thousands of years. And we cannot say that our current practices will be good for even a single century let alone millennia. Renewables are already much less expensive than nuclear and can be built much, much faster. Energy storage is the difficult part but costs have decreased exponentially for lithium ion batteries and there are other promising technologies such as liquid air energy storage, liquid metal batteries, and gravity energy storage are in the process of being scaled up. And as @Dr. Strangelove already mentioned, building a nuclear plant takes a really long time (6-10 years typically), so it's not even a short-term solution. Note that I'm not advocating that we decommission nuclear plants (unless deemed unsafe), but rather that we not build more nuclear plants and instead put those resources into renewables and storage. At some point in the future when we've got sustainable energy and storage at massive scale and fossil fuel plants are being eliminated, we can start decomming nuclear plants.

  17. Disagree; this puts things in dangerous territory of just glossing over what he did and what he's responsible for. At the very least, use the 14th Amendment and bar him from receiving daily intelligence reports.

  20. Ahem; they rushed the Impeachment trial without time for investigation and reflection. Their mistake was not waiting until tempers had cooled off. That way they could have had a real discussion on Do we really want the American public saying that political diatribes are criminal?

  28. PR, Guam, American Samoa, and any other territories we have should become states if their local government wishes. Territories are the last remnants of colonization and imperialism, there's no reason we still need to cling to those eras. The people there should have equal rights and protections as any US citizen or state. I don't understand the DC as a state debate. It shouldn't be it's own state it should just be absorbed into Maryland or left as is.

  30. Way to keep s#!tting on the players after their first conference win in over a calendar year. Yes, it was awful the last 9 minutes, but it was pretty good the first 31. NU was down 1, they couldn’t afford to take time off the clock. Attack the D before they could get set.

  32. I don't think that takes much stretch of the imagination. Even if the trump impeachments had not happened, Democrats wouldn't convict Biden if he was caught doing something to violate his oath.

  33. The biggest takeaway IMO, is that a precedent has been set, firmly, by Trumps two impeachments and "acquittals". How, possibly, can Congress or anyone for that matter, hold a sitting president accountable going forward? Unless they have a supermajority, they can't. Period. It's no longer about the checks and balances from the Constitution and doing what is right, it's only about numbers. You either have them or you don't. President's with favorable congressional numbers will get away with all kinds of things going forward. What's stopping them. No accountability to Congress, to Americans, none. Just a re-election every 4th year and if you loose, you could follow Trump's playbook and cry foul and claim fraud--it won't work, but think of all the damage it will inflict on the country. That'll show em. Kind of like a parting shot. Precedent. Impeachment conviction, only with a 2/3 majority? Good luck with that. This makes Clinton's impeachment laughable. Lying under oath? Who cares. Heck, a POTUS no longer has to even go under oath if he/she chooses not to as long as they got the numbers. Nixon and Watergate? Peanuts. Just another day at the office for the Donald. I hope you're happy--All you Trump supporters out there. Our nation has and will continue to suffer consequences from his behavior.

  34. The worst part of this is, rather than conduct a real trial with multiple witnesses like the country deserves, these a$$h@!es rushed through the process - AGAIN - this time because they all want to go on vacation. Recess starts Monday and they didn't want to miss it.

  37. I here exactly at this moment he may be reopening up his recruitment! It seems some school closer to home opened up and he might consider committing there. /sarcasm Doubt this kid ends up at Wazzu all four years. Probably transfers close to home a la California or a smaller school in a few years. Best of luck to him because his spot gives us one more opening for a player that wants to be here.
