  1. Which is why I am not against riding out frost for a few more years. I would however like to see legit staffing upgrades made if this season is another non bowling one.

  2. Let me be frank, I'm pretty much at the point of total disappointment in how Frost's tenure has gone. He's not inspiring anyone or re-energizing a numb fan base at all. It's basically just steering the same old beater Mike Riley turned a nice used car into. That said, if Frost DID initiate the idea of canceling OU he did it to beef recruiting and not to duck OU. He knows OU is going to s#!t stomp his squad. They know it, we know it, the players know it. It's been about this LONG slow rebuild since day one since Frost got here. He hasn't modified his approach in the slightest regardless of embarrassing results, other than required maintenance of staff shifts and transfers. To me he's been coaching the program he wishes he had and wants to have eventually instead of the program he actually has.

  3. If I’m the Democratic Party in AZ, I’m shouting from the rooftops that the GOP wants to decide for you if you should vote or not. Rile em up. Get voters coming out of the woodwork. Use their suppressive tactics against them. Only way to get the GOP to change.

  5. Looking at that reminded me of something. Why isn't EVERYONE upset about police killings of civilians? Instead, we have black people protesting it and one hell of a lot of white people mad the black people are protesting it. That has never made sense to me.

  6. They were literally what took us to our rock bottom. Not only in firing Bo when they did but hiring a has been in Riley and then tampering with his staff prior to everyone being fired. If we knew Riley was going to be the hire I have a feeling most of us would have preferred keeping Bo. Hell I consider myself fairly well versed in college football and I had to google the guy to know anything about him other than he was the HC at one of the worst football schools in the country.

  10. I agree as well. Do any of us believe that Frost has adjusted his playbook to fit the teams strength each season? We all understand the importance of creating an identity but you also have to establish some semblance of a winning culture or tangible progress where you can say "hey look how we have improved". We can say defensively we have improved however Frost wasnt brought in because of his defensive prowess.

  11. How on God's green earth does Bill Moos almost getting out of playing Oklahoma turn into a conversation about Bo freakin Pelini? He was sooo two coaches ago.

  13. Yes Bill Snyder was really that good. I view him as one of the greatest college coaches and I always wondered what Snyder in his prime could have accomplished at a have instead of a have not school. He was given rocks to make lemonade instead of lemons yet somehow still made lemonade.

  14. In addition to the aforementioned contract extension, new recruiting plane, bbigger budget, and constant facility upgrades, in 2013 the athletic department put together a major PR charm offensive showing the lighter side of Bo, including orchestrated pranks and videos of kind gestures Bo made to fans, including iirc, helping a returning vet propose to his girlfriend. They were pretty successful. Both Bo and the AD team deserve credit. After a really bad looking Iowa game and Bo rant after Iowa in 2013, Bo's 2014 season started with plenty of support and optimism until it fell apart at the end in what had become familiar fashion. And if you look back at 2013's leaked tape incident, the administration gave Bo all the support he needed, and probably more than he deserved. At that point, the difference between support and tolerance didn't really matter. Some people forget all this. Bottom line, Perlman and Eichorst were roughly as supportive of Bo as Youngstown State was, and considerably more supportive than LSU. You don't have to like Perlman and Eichorst at all. Everyone involved can be an ego-driven a$$h@!e at the same time. But firing Bo wasn't the wrong call.

  16. I get that his role diminished and was likely to shrink even more, but I still like the guy and wanted to see him succeed at NU. Best for both sides that he finds a better fit, but he was fun when he was being recruited and seemed so amped to be here.

  18. I don't know of anyone that says the climate isn't constantly changing. (Note how it used to be called Global Warming...but that has morphed into Climate Change) The only disagreement, as I see it, is the amount that human activity has influenced that change. And, I have seen compelling arguments for both sides.

  21. Oh it wasn't just me making that phone call. It was thousands of stalwart Husker fans braving the Athletic Department phone tree to help save the program from embarrassing itself. Turns out we were right: the AD read the situation wrong. Please don't give me too much credit. It's just what heroes do. I think I made two posts just this morning stating my feelings about the coming season. If they weren't blatantly optimistic, they were hopeful and open-minded. There's no need to cast me as a hater just because I mock your rather elastic defense of Scott Frost, As far as continuity and Perlman go: Bo Pelini had seven years as head coach, and prior to his last season Eichorst gave him a contract extension, a new plane and a bigger recruiting budget. Back in those innocent times, you'd be hard pressed to find a Nebraska fan who considered Bo's 9-4 continuity to be acceptable. The only question was how many more years you give him to start winning the meaningful games. Perlman did not make the head football coaching gig undesirable Fan expectations did. And the fans were correct, if you thought Nebraska needed to be competing for at least divisional Big 10 titles. After Bo called his AD a c*nt in a long self-pitying final speech to his players, he went to the safety of his home town Youngstown team and a totally nurturing administration, where he wore out his welcome in similar fashion and is no longer a head coach, instead using his reputation as a defensive guru to lead LSU to some of the worst defensive performances in its history. Ipso facto, Perlman and Eichorst made the right call, whether you like them or not. It's also not Perlman's fault that Husker fans assumed the HC position at UNL would lure any top coaching candidate. We developed that expectation on our own. Turns out we weren't competing for Nick Saban or Jim Harbaugh. Brett Bielema and the second tier weren't interested, either. That's how we ended up with Mike Riley. Nebraska wouldn't have stood a chance for UCF's Scott Frost if he wasn't a native son. He was really tempted to go SEC as it was. Did Harvey Perlman, chancellor of the University of Nebraska, personally resent that his shepherding of a huge multi-faceted educational system would be judged by the success of the football coach -- the highest paid public official in the state? Probably. Harvey has been gone for 5 years.

  23. I'm not seeing anything in the article that refutes what Knapp said... From the article: "To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder." Edit: It's easy to find a lot of quotes where Kap says he's protesting to bring attention to victims like Sandra Bland. But I also found an article where he says the specific shooting that caused him to kneel was a Bay Area man who was suspected in a stabbing and was shot 20 times because he refused to drop his knife. I think we should all be able to agree that violent criminals are most likely met with violence and it's most often justified. But that doesn't make it okay to respond to non-violent "criminals" with violence even if it's only once in a while.

  25. This whole thing about the Huskers thinking about cancelling their game against the Sooners has me intrigued. A lot has been said about the subject and how can any of us outside of the internal workings be absolutely sure of what the facts are? Having said that there are potentially very interesting developments that can come from this game........ If it is in fact played ...which it looks like is likely....consider the implications. What if the Huskers rise up and find a way to beat the Sooners? I have seen stranger things happen in college football...sometimes the favored team just plain doesn't get it done. Sometimes a hungrier, less talented team finds a way to win. Stronger teams sometimes take games for granted and underestimate their foe and end up losing to teams they should not lose to. Having said that in my estimation this happens only because of the leadership of the underdog team. I believe this game is an opportunity for Frost to show his worthiness. The head coach of any football team is the determining factor....he is the one who must put all the parts together and coach them effectively enough to produce wins....particularly wins against superior teams. The Huskers seem to clearly be the underdog against the Sooners however if they prepare properly and execute a winning approach this game could end up being an extremely important win for the players, the program as well as the head coach and the administration that backs him. This is an opportunity for Frost, and I am hoping for and pulling for him to show all of his detractors that he has the skills to turn this program around, it's all on him. It is still my hope that Frost is that head coach who can find a way to get all he can from the players who he convinces to join his mission to win. I still believe he is someone who wants success for the Huskers perhaps more than most other head coaching options for the Huskers. This of course is no assurance of success but I am pulling for him to succeed. Go big Red!

  26. I looked it up, and believe he was referencing an observed delta between the apparent increased death count and covid deaths. There is nothing to indicate it was being done intentionally to mislead, nor does it mean the difference in numbers are wholly covid-related deaths. This statistical gap is also not confined to Florida. Regardless of what I personally believe, there is some serious confirmation bias at work here. People don’t like the guy, disagree with how he’s handled the pandemic, and now trying to vindicate that opinion with ‘statistics’. We should really be trying to understand the numbers at this point and attempt to learn what worked, what didn’t...so we can do better next time. But smugly misinforming on Twitter is more fun I guess.

  29. The question is - why do they commit more violent crime? As a race, why are they so disproportionately guilty of committing these crimes based on their contribution to the overall population? People who want to point out these issues aren't exclusively trying to say that black people are treated unfairly. The real problem here is that this country spent hundreds of years straight dunking on African-Americans in just about as many conceivable ways as possible. And although we've come a long way in helping to make our society more equitable, we've come nowhere close to undoing the widespread damage that I think many African Americans are still trying to claw their way out of. Many of them are born into poverty ridden, crime ridden situations. They live their lives surrounded by this abhorrent behavior, a lot of which has become culturally engrained. And then they commit crimes and we have a large percentage of Americans who just want to treat the symptoms (crime) rather than the disease itself.

  32. Sure. After the access Hollywood tape came out, tons of Republicans and the RNC were wanting Trump to drop out. As far as the allegations by the women, (going by memory so you look them up if you want) I believe they were almost all 20-30 year old encounters that no one could prove and we all he said/she said with no evidence. We don’t hear about them anymore and I wonder why since he isn’t President now and I would think he could be investigated. Though admittedly I don’t know the statute of limitations in each state. Coumo’s allegations are mostly within the last 2 years and one or two have potential witnesses. For me personally, he should have his investigations go forward on those. So about that John’s Hopkins article/data set. You know where I can find it?

  33. Isn't that Nebraska's MO? The exact same could be said about Solich. Had we fired him the year before we did, we more than likely wouldn't have had to endure the Clownahan years. Michigan and Nebraska are in the same boat. They have both hired their saviors, but it hasn't exactly panned out. Harbaugh is further along at Michigan than Frost is here which makes it very interesting to see what they do the next couple of years.

  34. I agree with this. The RIGHT time to fire Bo if you were going to was the year prior to when we did. I know we like to blame Riley but the real problem was the administration above him. Do we fall apart the way we did in year 3 of Riley if he isnt forced a DC?

  36. Huskers played 14 games against 11 tournament teams. That's over 50% of their schedule. That includes: Illinois 1 - twice Michigan 1 - once Iowa 2 - Once OSU 2 - Once Purdue 4 - Once Creighton 5 - Once Wisconsin 9 - Twice Georgia Tech 9 - Once MSU 11 - Once Maryland 10 - Twice Rutgers 10. - Once Unfortunately, we went 1-13 against them. But, that's a brutal schedule. Average margin in losses was 16.46 points. Not sure how, but it's the 39th at SOS. Interestingly, 9 of the top 10 SOSs are Big Ten teams. If the Big Ten stays this tough, we will have our work cut out to even be middle of the road Big Ten. On the flip side, if we make it to the tournament with this type of schedule, maybe we will be able to actually win a game.

  38. Well I hope nobody on the team reads this board. Everyone has them getting curb stomped before they play. Is Oklahoma that much better than Ohio St? I know they beat Nebraska pretty soundly but the guys on the team had a pretty good half. Also all Frost has to do is tell the team he had no knowledge of what was going on. Moos can back him up to help him save face to the team. Also most of the guys on the team probably don't care
